    I have Bernina 930 Record, is there a #71 foot available for my older machine? please say yes!
    if not is it possible to retrofit it?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  5 років тому

      Hi Dylan, thanks for asking. The answer is ... yes! :-) For full compatibility information on all our accessories please refer to the accessory catalog: www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Product-Catalogs. The 930 is listed in category A1 (see page 2 of the PDF file). Hence, all presser feet that have an A or A1 in the compatibily chart are compatible with your machine. The lap seam foot can be found on page 21. Foot no. 71 (not 70), article no. 002 973 73 00, is the one compatible with category A. Happy stitching!

    What seam allowances do you use with this foot? :)

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Sabrina, thanks for asking. Please see 01:05 of the video. We recommend using a seam allowance of approx. 10 mm (3/8 inch).

      @@BerninaInternational On both pieces?

      @BerninaInternational  2 роки тому

      @@amylenertz1953 Hi Amy, thanks for asking. As shown at 01:04 of the video, the bottom piece protrudes approx. 1 cm. This “seam allowance” wraps the top fabric. That means you need this extra on both fabrics. We hope this helps.

    i wonder if you can use this pressure foot to sew a curve seam?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  5 років тому +1

      Dear Ednja, thanks for asking. This foot was developed with denim fabric for clothing.
      It works with larger curves but straight seams work the best.

      @@BerninaInternational thank you for your reply, I am looking for something that will help me working with means shirts side seams and curve hems, mostly for cotton, silk and organza light weight fabric. Do you have any recommendations? Can you do videos with them? I hesitate because there are so many pressure feet on the market, it is hard to choose, especially Bernina is an expensive one. I have one Bernina, a Janome and a Brother, I am doing some research to invest some feet for long terms. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

      @@tubetubepleasure Hi Edna, the best feet for hems on shirts at the hemmer feet 62 - 69
      . Check out our video on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/HV3Sy8HhQ_Y/v-deo.html
      We recommend that you visit your local BERNINA dealer with your fabric for a demo to select the one that best suits your needs.

      @@tubetubepleasure The hemmer foot works well but for sewing around the rounded tails of a man's shirt, press/iron first, else they tend to twist. Note this lady is only pressing the outer curve, not both turns of the fabric.
      ua-cam.com/video/svD7oFQNxOk/v-deo.html
      And this is the foot for the side seams on a man's shirt, called a lapped seam. You don't need special feet to do either of these, but if you're making a lot, they sure do help.

      Lastly, look in your manual (that came with your machine, if you bought it new). Mine (years back) came with two coupons for free feet.

    How much seam allowance does each of the two feet use? Trying to decide on the size to start with.

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  Рік тому +1

      Hi Karen, 4 mm Lap Seam Foot #70 makes a narrow flat-felled seam, approximately ⅛" wide. When cutting seam allowances, allow approximately ⅜" total for a lapped seam with Foot #70 - ¼" for the lapped piece and ⅛″ for the underlap (approximately the width of the channel in the sole). The 8 mm Lap Seam Foot #71 makes an approximately ¼"-wide flat-felled seam. Allow approximately ¾" total for seam allowances - ½" for the lapped piece and ¼" for the underlap (approximately the width of the channel in the sole).

    My 71 foot is showing wear on the right skinny part of the foot :(. Is this going to be a problem? And will it cause wear to the feed dogs?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  3 роки тому

      Hi Nyssa, this is difficult to judge from a distance and without a picture. We suspect that the galvanic coating has worn off due to frequent use and because this part of the foot touched the feed dogs. Normally this is not a problem. If you like, you can send us a photo to youtube@bernina.com - we will then take a closer look at it.
