Today I had the chance to go back in time to Walnut Grove in 1880. It was the 50th anniversary cast reunion of Little House on the Prairie in Simi Valley. It was a big festival meet and greet with the cast members. My favorite was the bus ride to the original location where they film a Little House on the Prairie, Walnut Grove, and the Ingles house, it was an incredible experience to see the places where they filmed the TV show 50 years ago. I had an incredible time.
I still watch all the episodes till this day
That's so awesome.. I love that show it's one of my favorites ..we need to go back to that time. Wholesomeness
Great childhood memories watching the show!❤
In the 90's id wake up early around 6ish to watch one or two episodes of the show with my Aunt. She wouldve been in her late 50''s and wouldve known a lot about the lifestyle of the Ingles, having been raised on a farm herself in the 50's. It warmed my heart, we all laughed and cried many times. The charm and sincerity of the show still lives with me. Decided today to rewatch the entire series on Amazon Prime with my wife who never saw it as a kid. Didnt realize its the show's 50th anniversary!
Thank you for sharing this for all of us who couldn’t be there, but wanted to ❤
Such a fun tour. I’m still watching reruns of Little House! Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you for such great coverage. Takes me right back to my childhood.
Thanks for taking us along, Mike! Great video, appreciate it
I watched all episodes of the little house ❤❤❤❤❤
What a fantastic adventure!!!!🤗
I had the great honor of working on all the facades that you saw in the video. I helped to draw them on blank buildings and also helped to paint them, and finally did all the satin finish that went onto them to preserve them. In addition I was a tour guide for the tour that went to Big Sky Ranch during the special 50th anniversary event. Also, the host asked about touring the facades again. Big Sky Ranch is planning to offer more tours of the facades we are just waitng for this to be set up.
I used to live about 1 mile from Big Sky Ranch and rode my mountain bike thru those movie sets up until 2021, and moved back east. Awesome video Mike!
As a kid in the 1970s I watched "Unsere kleine Farm" too on German TV. 🤩
wir schauen noch immer!- auf sat1 ;-))
@@izom ich auch! Das ist meine kleine heile Welt in dieser grausamen Welt
Thank you very much, very exciting.
Danke Mike. Was für eine Zeitreise. Ich habe alle Folgen geschaut .❣
WOUNDERFUL MIKE ENJOYED THE SHOW THANKS FOR TAKING US👍💯💪
German in Venice it was so nice meeting you in the prop building while you were filming. I was so happy to see ( I was the one with the cold hand when I shook your hand, it was really cold outside)you that I forgot to take a picture with you. Maybe next time I happen to bump into you. It was a great event and everyone there was so nice and it was awesome to hear the places people came from for this event.
Thank you for this video and blessings to you.
❤❤❤
With all the rain California is getting, Simi Valley looks like just the 1970s when "Little House on the Prarie" was filmed.
Great show. I'm glad they built those scenic flats to at least know where the old buildings were.
My favorite show ever.. then Brady Bunch, then Roseanne
I get it. I would be emotionally grateful to have been there. I have the best memories of this show. From my childhood and to now.
Vielen Danke!!!! This video was wonderful. Thank you for sharing!
Little House On The Prairie was my very favorite TV show and it was sad that Michael destroyed all the buildings! He was my very favorite TV Dad. Really enjoyed your video. I bet that was really awesome and cool getting to see where Little House was filmed.
G.I.V. Outstanding video… Brings back a lot of memories when I was a little boy watching this. I am almost the same age as MELISSA Gilbert.❤
You are so lucky to have been able to go on the bus tour. Word is that they might open up this area for more tours in the future. That would be great! My name is John and I got to meet you at the end of the day on Saturday along with that other guy who does music videos. You sir are the coolest!
p.s. I'm going to share this to Facebook
Your photos made this tour of Little House on The Prairie well worth it. Excellence on your part. The best part of this tour was the mannequins, not that great, but much better than those "billboard" fake props. Again excellence on your part. Thank you.
This is what I’ve always imagined what heaven is like. With all my family and animals are waiting for me. Can’t wait to see them all one day. 😊
Jesus is the only way to heaven.
What a cool video and experience, Mike🤍I used to love watching Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid🌸Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Norway
I just love this show. I watched it as kid, and now I watch it with my kids.
Thanks for this video! I loved the show. I would watch it with my dad every week. It is one of the greatest shows ever on tv, and we sure need something like it today!
Schöne Erinnerungen. Unsere kleine Farm 👍😎
I’m turning 60 in 2 weeks, This was really cool too see, Thanks for sharing.
Gives good memories of the mid 70s watching it on TV as a kid...
Great show Mike! You made me cry you big jerk! Loved it. Thanks Gman!
Excellent thank you I'm a teenager again 😄😘🤗 stormy .
Dang! I was a young kid watching this show, Time sure flies by Fast.
They said the wildlife & snakes made it a liability to have people off the buses. If you noticed at the ingall’s house there was a snake wrangler there the whole time. I hope that helps.
I really enjoyed this video. I also loved watching Little House On The Prairie. I wish I could come to Cali to see it for myself.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Argentina.
GIV well done this was brilliant just as the show was thanks for showcasing 😊
This was so nice GIV, vielen herzlichen Dank
This is so cool! I was unable to attend which made me sad but your videos of this awesome Anniversary have made me happy! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤😊
I never really knew that many people liked this show. I loved it as a kid 😊
One of my favorites!
It was so wholesome, even the characters seemed like you know similar people in real life. Like the sneaky mean girl Nellie. I had a school mate just as mean.
I've seen most of the episodes but to be honest I preferred series like Starsky & Hutch, Columbo and Cannon.
Even the reruns are better than the perfect law police shows today
Great video GIV! Your picture match-up really made the tour pop. I can't believe it has been 50 years. Wow!
I live a very short drive from Walnut Grove, MN and I'm embarrassed to say I've never done a video there, Thanks GIV!!
Cool man! German In Walnut Grove!! hehe I grew up watching it too I know just what you mean! I hope someone does see this and can get you on the lot. You are the one person that should be able to do it just to line the pictures up as that is a very cool thing you do!
I lived north and west of Walnut Grove MN. for a few years in the 70's. We always got a laugh at the locations they used.
Epic video Mike!!!!
Thanks so much for taking us along and sharing!!!
My inner child is so triggered!!! Thanks Mike! Appreciate this. ❤
Wow i think i saw every episode back in the 90s so many memories of bieng a carefree young boy. Watching tv with mom
Allison Arngrim used to give tours there. I am not sure about now. I believe it was part of the same tour group called "Dearly Departed".
I'm a new subscriber and love all your Little☺️House Coverage ALL PRICELESS💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Ever since I adopted my rescue dog I can no longer go on long excursions. Thanks for filming this. LHOP was my dads favorite show. He would have loved this.
How ironic that not far from the Ingall's family ranch location is the real-life Manson family Spawn ranch location (the other side of the mountains). Simi Valley is a really cool location, many films and T.V. shows were filmed there, how amazing is it that it hasn't been developed into track housing by now, let's hope it remains off limit to developers. Great job, Thanks for GiVing !!!!👍👍
That’s amazing! Thanks for that info.
A wonderful experience. Thanks for sharing
I loved the show just like i loved , the waltons
Such simple stories that we belove!😅
Wow GIV your the Bomb love Little House want to go there
GIV, you are good, very good. Thank you.
It was my reason to live Ihave spent my childhood watching
Emotional Video Mike ....
Taken me straight back to my childhood days and memories of this incredible show ❤️
Hard to believe its been 50 years since it started....
Good Stuff
Cheers 🎙🎶🥂
Oh wow, I got chills when you showed your feet standing on the grounds of the original house. I can only imagine how thrilled you must have felt! Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us! You are so appreciated!! ❤😊
Thank you for this video GIV!!! I love the side by side pictures!!!
Really enjoyed this video Mike. It brought back wonderful memories. I remember the town being blown up in the last episode like it was yesterday. So emotional. Nicely done.
Hey German in Venice. Well..my husband found this tonight and I was so happy to watch. What a great job you did filming so informative. I have to say I’ve been watching a little house on the Prairie since it started. I was probably 15. And I probably read all the books when I was younger. I was absolutely in love with this production. It is brilliant and as you say an emotional, and just you always came out with a lesson. so well written so well produced Michael and it was a genius with this show. Love everybody on the show and I have to say during Covid it got me through. I probably watched it every day.lol I was obsessed with it and still am to this day. Thank you so much for filming this and bringing it to us to watch. It’s greatly appreciated.😉
Incredible work by GiV as usual.
That was great GIV! I recognized some of the trees on the bus ride from the show. Your picture matchups were great, glad you got someone to get a photo of you at the house. Both of the reasons you mentioned are why the buildings are no longer there. The yellow flowers in the field when the girls are running down the hill were actually fake stems of flowers to make the hill look prettier. Carrie tripped on on of the flower stems during the take to film the beginning, Michael Landon thought it was cute and left it in.
Thanks for sharing 😢 always in my heart Little house ..
In 1962 i met Michael Landon here in Sweden. He was singing in the Folkpark. He was very popular. I remember that because I got a foto and autograf. 😊
Wow! Var i Sverige såg du honom? Vet du vilka städer han besökte? Lucky you!
Great, great video, Mike! Thanks!
One of my favorite stories and TV shows to watch. Hope, there's a complete series of this online.
A beautiful landscape with old trees and tall grass. I really hope it is protected for the future from being destroyed with buildings, asphalt and concrete!
I love than show to am sew happy for you mike you got to see it and take you for the videos ❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😊😊
Amazing Mike. Thanks so much for taking us along ❤
Once in a life time youll ever c this!!! ❤❤❤❤❤Youre so lucky!!! I should b in California TY like always!!! Youre the BEST!!!
How cool! I watched this with my mom and absolutely loved the show! My cousin was named Laura after the main character.
What pretty blue eyes you have. My grandparents immigrated to USA back in the 1920's from germany.
I love this video. Thank you for sharing your emotional experience On Little House On The Prairie rememberence. ❤️
Thank you for this, Mike! Amazing to see after 50 years of its beginning in 1974. I am a fan of the show and saw it in its entirety when it originally was on the air growing up
in the '70s and into 1983 when it finally ended with season 9. 7:51, that looks more like the mansion that Laura and Almonzo were living in near the end of the show.
Laura worked for this wealthy, elderly lady that lived alone and when she passed away, she gave it to Laura. Laura and Almonzo had to blow it up to keep
it out of the hands of the real estate men that bought the land on which Walnut Grove's buildings were standing. He and his men demanded that all citizens vacate the buildings
and town. The citizens banded together in the final episode and told him, you may own the land on which Walnut Grove stands, but you don't own the buildings. Then, proceeded
to blow them up, one by one, with the exception of the church/schoolhouse with the liberty bell.
Que hermosos recuerdo me acuerdo cuando era niño y no me perdia ningun capitulo. Saludos desde Chile
Anything is possible!!!!!! Don’t dream it …be it!!!! I believe you will accomplish everything you want Mike! I wasn’t a big fan of the show but watching you enjoy it so much was all the entertainment I needed for the day! Good job photo matching! Thank you! P.S. I still have your Oscar Rock!
Thanks, Mike.
Great job lining up the photos with the video!
Loved when Mr Olson cut off Harriet head episode and when Charles gets an inheritance and cant forget Miss Sullivan Restaurant
Well done Mike...... super interesting. Thank you. You're a good man.
02:31 That's great that they did that because that is what everyone remembers!
This was a fantastic video! I really appreciated the "still shots". Matching up the original pictures to the exact land spots was so fun to see. You nailed it! You have a talent. Thanks so much.
Possibly the best TV show ever. Please play for your young children Today!
I grew up with this show, and I remember watching the premier movie at age seven, and looking forward to a new episode every week. My home town is less than an hour from Walnut Grove, MN and I went to college in Mankato which was often mentioned in the show. To me it was a strange thought that it was filmed in California :)
Best tv show ever.
I hope they invite you on a private tour GIV.
Hi Mike I was born and raised in Hawthorne California....I would do what you do always....have fun and be you
Thanks!
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Thanks for supporting. Have a great weekend.
Thank you again for sharing this event with us. Hope you found someone that took you around for a better viewing. 😊
So grateful for these videos, GIV, I grew up reading the books then watching the shows and rewatching the shows. It really is a link to the past when Americans were homesteading and trying to build a life. Pa Ingalls tried hard to care for his family and have a farm and homestead. I love the history behind the show and the biographical live’s of the true characters. It’s like a true home.
Makes Me happy that you had such a good time. Thank you for this wonderful video. I know all of us on the LH50 festival team appreciates you. I remember you filming when you were in the Set Backstage Experience. Cheers Sir.
Have enjoyed this video! I hope someone reaches out to you so you can go back to Walnut Grove.
Thank you for sharing I loved show I wish I could of seen it 🙂
It was supposed to take place in Walnut Grove, Minnesota in the television series but was filmed at a ranch in Culver City, California, I think.
Most of the events actually took place in Iowa and South Dakota. In the series they stuck to one town in one state. The producers took a lot of artistic license in the lives of the Ingalls even adding adopted kids.
It was one of my favorite shows and still is.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THESE WONDERFUL VIDEOS. I would have loved to go to this event but could not get to CA from Ohio. Makes me feel better to know my friend GIV was there and I got to experience it through you!
THANK YOU GIV!!! this is my favorite show of all time and i was soo sad i couldn't be there i knew you'd come through and post some great videos!! so glad i met the cast in Texas last year❤❤❤
