Yes. Good advice. I've been doing nails forever. But to compete you must keep up with your competition. They do them in one hour, perfect one ball nails. Fyi you need a size 14 brush.
Yes! When I first started doing my own nails it took me FOREVER to do them! I’m definitely much quicker now but still not super fast. I’m not doing clients though so I can take all the time in the world lol

Yes that’s why I felt I had to address it because it is so misleading. I can do it one bead, but I don’t do it because it’s too frustrating for people to try to copy. I’m not in the business to show you how good I am with creating one beads as an educator my job is to show you how you can do it easily you can work up to the one bed and even still it’s not a necessary goal
@@pamelaernstine9751 that's like saying that antibiotics shouldn't be used, because they were created in 1928. There is a reason why the best methods are still used for things- it's because they're tested by time, and still work very well.
This video is not only a great example of using multiple beads, but also the different colors really helps us see the anatomy of a nail and the different zones to worry about! I taught myself how to do nails from videos like this, but its always so hard to see, so this was great! I personally use the one bead method (except for when I get low spots lol), but I'm teaching my older sister, who prefers multiple beads. I think this will be super helpful for her!
Ooh yes I found that the three bead works best for me. I tried one bead but my acrylic dries too quick for that so I decided to take as many as it needs!
I think fewer beads just comes as you get more experience and get better at knowing exactly how much product you need and where to put it and so on. So you start seeing “oh, I can do this and this together.” Then “I can do this and this and this together.” The goal should be properly structured properly shaped nails, if you for some reason wanted to do that with 10 tiny beads and you or your client were happy with that? Go for it. 🤷♀️
I've been doing nails since 1989 and I still could sit and watch your videos of hours, and do sometimes. I just love your simple creative way of teaching. Teaching the one ball method was harder for me than actually doing it on clients for the same reasons you mentioned. I don't think its a good beginner technique but I had to due to company guidelines. Most of it went right over their heads by the end of a 4 hour class.
That doesn’t surprise me. In the USA unless the tech comes to you most salons want a high chair turn over. Quicker service means more clients can come through the door and more money. It’s why the dip powders became so ‘popular’ most salons now days only have one or two techs that can work with acrylic. And no one sculpts it’s all tips and very flat , thin nails that beak in two weeks so you come back sooner. Got a friend who was going through a course and said half the class declared they were probably going to focus on dip powders because acrylic and hard gel is ‘temperamental’ and ‘hard’ to get correct. Also no salon does gel nails. They just have gel polish and that’s what they consider gel nails🙄

See now this is why I love her videos. A particular YT that shall not be named literally do not create ANY apex one so ever and it agitates me they spread misinformation and false advertisements to younger upcoming nailtechs since it makes them believe they can get away with that in their own practices
It's so many who use tips w/o adding in a curve. My students (high school, not nail school, but I do my own and am known for it) always get breaks and after I explain why they are so upset because they cannot afford the quality salons. I try to tell them to just wait until they can get it done correctly, but pressure is pressure 😔 Their poor little nail beds!

It takes me at least 4 beads depending how long the nail is. A long stiletto is usually 6 beads. Just got the slow curing monomer and love it! I have the fast cure and I'm not quite there yet. Thanks for all your great videos!
One bead method is a waste of time I agree!! I use as many beads as I need to not be stressed out and to move fast. I usually use 2 or 3 beads. Works much faster for me, instead of making mistakes with the one bead method and having to file extra.
I’ve started doing my own nails with builder gel in a bottle and even though you mostly use acrylic you’ve still taught me so much about using nail forms, nail prep, building an apex, filing etc. Thank you for being such a great teacher Susie! 😘

I just so appreciate Susie's approach to this whole topic! She doesn't make it a debate about one bead vs multiple bead method... it's not a debate! It's about what works for different people, individually. I've seen that people can feel as strongly about their nail techniques as they do about politics/ religion, making discussions about differing ones just degrade into personal jabs or demonizing a company or tech. Susie did this in such a focused and classy way, it really is just about education. I love it!! ❤ 💖💅💖❤

One year since the heart surgery and he's mostly retired from work now so I get him all to myself (except Thursdays when he still goes in to annoy his colleagues, haha!) I've been a bit wobbly though. My mental health has taken quite a hit, like an SUV driving over a Twinkie. But, we get up in the morning and we shine on and remember the things that make us happy and take time out to do the things that relax us - like watching you do beautiful nails! (But not today, that colour scheme was educational but looked like a dumpster fire.) Hee heee! So I've been away but now I'm back. Big hugs to you both. x

when i got out of school and got my first job at a nail salon my boss was trying to tell me '2 seconds per nail' for acrylics(its a regular in/out the door salon) and i would practice and she'd be like 'too slow'. and the stuff they used was the monomer that dries QUICK so i always thought i was just really bad at acrylics until i left and used better products where i can take my time and they actually look decent. i still hate doing acrylics but the point is faster isnt always better and if youre a newbie just take your time
I just bought your slow curing monomer and, i am so so happy i did! I do my own nails at home and found your videos when I discovered i couldn't use gel. I can't use the lamp it literally "nukes" my fingers! (I've been told it's an allergic reaction 😭... ) So trying to learn acrylic basically from scratch at 40yrs old. I about gave up. Decided to try your product and I actually CAN do it! Between that and your amazingly helpful videos, I'm doing pretty good. So Thank You Suzie. I'm working on doing acrylics at home and I have watched this video 5 times before I do my second set. I did my first set with the one bead method and let me say, they were CHONKY lol! I'm no nail expert and I doubt it will turn out as good as yours but at least I can now relax knowing that I don't have to do or even perfect the one bead method. I really would love to try this method out but I recently took off a set of Polygel and it ripped off half of my thumbnail so I have to wait for it to grow out.
This is how they should be teaching us in school. The three bead method we learned was ok and it was done differently, but this is even better. Your video definitely gave me a better understanding of how to build a nail especially since we learned everything via zoom. Thanks, Suzie!🥰🥰🥰

I’ve been enjoying Suzie’s videos for years because of Jenna Marbles. But I just started cosmetology school and everyone there is shocked over how nicely shaped and structured I get my nail, especially for someone who has no experience. So I tell them all about Suzie and how she’s taught me so much 🥰 Right now my nails don’t look very pretty while I’m building the acrylic, but Suzie taught me that if I have a good foundation there’s a beautiful nail in there somewhere, it just has to be filed into shape.

Not only that, the strength and appearance of one bead nails is sub-par to say the least. Even when done expertly one bead of acrylic never has the strength of a well built nail with product carefully placed and layered. It doesn't even cure equally when done in one large bead. Also I've seen the cuticle get flooded with monomer way too muhc, not only because of the technique some people use but also just because the brushes for it tend to be so large
I think, for some people who work in a nail shop, it's because they feel pressure to go as quickly as possible. Since there's always more people waiting. So the one bead method seems like it will be the fastest.

Great question- Yes certain shapes can take longer. How long should it take to do a set of nails really depends on the length - shape and experience- it really varies but you’re looking at anywhere between one hour to 3 or four
It should never take more than an hour and a half, depending on polish and art, and actually that's a little long. In this world you must learn the one ball method and be good and quick. In the time it took to do this video I have seen perfect one ball nails applied. These people don't mess around they do them in 1 hour. I'm the slow one lol. Peace and love.
This video was really helpful. I have a practice hand delivering today. Im going to practice with the different colors like this. It really helps to be able to see the sections broken down for pracicing bead placement and forming the apex. This is genius.
Omg this method looks so much less intimidating to learn than the one head method. I always stayed away from acrylic because it looked difficult to master but this is much simpler. Thank you!
I'll tell ya what "Learn to do it right before you learn to do it fast" had a huge impact on me I love that the core is in *education* Also are we sure that green wasn't like, a Suzie-blue prototype?! I would love to see a few other NCE signature shades 🤞🏻💙🤞🏻💖🤞🏻 Also, earlier, I was trying to file my nails almondy, and I just couldn't get it exactly how I wanted. then I remembered Suzie's tip for shaping: plan. Find your center, find your side points (make sure they're even), then draw your line however sharp or round you want it to be. Then file till you get there. Boom, perfection 👌🏻
I think the one bead approach depends on how you’re taught. Here in America, i haven’t experienced the one bead impacting us in the way you explain. I learned it as a way to simply help create a platform so we can go back to the sculpture and fill in the gaps easier. For some, building with multiple beads leads to frustration. Basically the one bead creates a platform similar to a tip.
I find at times chancing that 1 big bead that's a tad too wet, then wipe, then mold, then pat...😳 2 or 3 beads work just fine. I can control them fast to dry. If 1 bead is a DO, then fabulous. BUT the temp in salon is NOT regulated. Too warm. Too chilly. More liquid. Less liquid. Find your own rhythm nail newbies☺. It takes time but once you have your own rhythm your own style your favorite brush, it will all fall together. Been a pro in the salon since 1983. Proud to be who I am. A nail tech.
The nail Suzie sculpted looks like a toucan's beak..could have been a thing though. Maybe the next idea could be to take inspiration from exotic birds?

i wish i could learn from someone like you when i was 18 and begged my parents to pay for my nailtech course. they taught me pretty much nothing and then i got discouraged because my nails looked awful and now, at 31, i want to give it another go and not be so hard on myself!

The main reason I think everyone sees this method as achievable within a short time is bc a 20 year old artist is who popularized it (Anacrylics) she’s quite young so it makes them assume it took her a short time to get it down. The thing is that she doesn’t usually show her nails from the side and when she does, there isn’t much apex. She mainly uses practice swatches so it’s fine but misleading.
I agree with the statement that one bead is the devil ! It is so rare that a technician be able to get in the proper structure and apex in the nail all in one bead. Especially a long nail.
Once you’ve been a nail tech for a certain amount of time & are comfortable you will notice you naturally start to do the one bead method, especially on shorter nails. It has its time & place however teaching the 3 bead method is best. But your never limited to the amount of beads it takes you as long as you get to where you need to be!
Hi Mrs. Suzie. As a former welder one beads never provide structure when length is concerned. Nail structure is not much different. It is pretty but very dangerous.
This is so interesting! I've always had my nails done at Asian nail bars as that's all we really had in my area. They did one bead and its super fast, occasionally they'd put a little bit extra around the sides. But every single set I had would always lift and snap around the sides. They were always lovely and thin and I thought that was what it should be like to get a smooth blend down to the edges.. I have really awkward nails though as I basically have no side walls and the free edge curves down so they're basically a circle, so I always get lifting unless I have square nails that can come up to make their own side wall, but also every time I get extensions they point upwards like ducks. Not many places near me that use forms either x

It is the best way. 3 ball nails are so 25 years ago. Get with the program ladies. And new techs learn the one ball to perfection it's so easy.

I do it in as many beads I need. It takes less time too because I be messing up a lot of beads with the one bead

One year since the heart surgery and he's mostly retired from work now so I get him all to myself (except Thursdays when he still goes in to annoy his colleagues, haha!) I've been a bit wobbly though. My mental health has taken quite a hit, like an SUV driving over a Twinkie. But, we get up in the morning and we shine on and remember the things that make us happy and take time out to do the things that relax us - like watching you do beautiful nails! (But not today, that colour scheme was educational but looked like a dumpster fire.) Hee heee! So I've been away but now I'm back. Big hugs to you both. x

when i got out of school and got my first job at a nail salon my boss was trying to tell me '2 seconds per nail' for acrylics(its a regular in/out the door salon) and i would practice and she'd be like 'too slow'. and the stuff they used was the monomer that dries QUICK so i always thought i was just really bad at acrylics until i left and used better products where i can take my time and they actually look decent. i still hate doing acrylics but the point is faster isnt always better and if youre a newbie just take your time

I just bought your slow curing monomer and, i am so so happy i did! I do my own nails at home and found your videos when I discovered i couldn't use gel. I can't use the lamp it literally "nukes" my fingers! (I've been told it's an allergic reaction 😭... ) So trying to learn acrylic basically from scratch at 40yrs old. I about gave up. Decided to try your product and I actually CAN do it! Between that and your amazingly helpful videos, I'm doing pretty good. So Thank You Suzie. I'm working on doing acrylics at home and I have watched this video 5 times before I do my second set.
I did my first set with the one bead method and let me say, they were CHONKY lol! I'm no nail expert and I doubt it will turn out as good as yours but at least I can now relax knowing that I don't have to do or even perfect the one bead method. I really would love to try this method out but I recently took off a set of Polygel and it ripped off half of my thumbnail so I have to wait for it to grow out.
This is how they should be teaching us in school. The three bead method we learned was ok and it was done differently, but this is even better. Your video definitely gave me a better understanding of how to build a nail especially since we learned everything via zoom. Thanks, Suzie!🥰🥰🥰

I’ve been enjoying Suzie’s videos for years because of Jenna Marbles. But I just started cosmetology school and everyone there is shocked over how nicely shaped and structured I get my nail, especially for someone who has no experience. So I tell them all about Suzie and how she’s taught me so much 🥰 Right now my nails don’t look very pretty while I’m building the acrylic, but Suzie taught me that if I have a good foundation there’s a beautiful nail in there somewhere, it just has to be filed into shape.

I always found it odd that people feel the need to create a nail in one bead. Like why feel obligated to do it? Create a nail however you need 🤷♀️
Not only that, the strength and appearance of one bead nails is sub-par to say the least. Even when done expertly one bead of acrylic never has the strength of a well built nail with product carefully placed and layered. It doesn't even cure equally when done in one large bead. Also I've seen the cuticle get flooded with monomer way too muhc, not only because of the technique some people use but also just because the brushes for it tend to be so large

I think, for some people who work in a nail shop, it's because they feel pressure to go as quickly as possible. Since there's always more people waiting. So the one bead method seems like it will be the fastest.

Great question- Yes certain shapes can take longer. How long should it take to do a set of nails really depends on the length - shape and experience- it really varies but you’re looking at anywhere between one hour to 3 or four
It should never take more than an hour and a half, depending on polish and art, and actually that's a little long. In this world you must learn the one ball method and be good and quick. In the time it took to do this video I have seen perfect one ball nails applied. These people don't mess around they do them in 1 hour. I'm the slow one lol. Peace and love.

This video was really helpful. I have a practice hand delivering today. Im going to practice with the different colors like this. It really helps to be able to see the sections broken down for pracicing bead placement and forming the apex. This is genius.

Omg this method looks so much less intimidating to learn than the one head method. I always stayed away from acrylic because it looked difficult to master but this is much simpler. Thank you!

Also, earlier, I was trying to file my nails almondy, and I just couldn't get it exactly how I wanted. then I remembered Suzie's tip for shaping: plan.
Find your center, find your side points (make sure they're even), then draw your line however sharp or round you want it to be. Then file till you get there. Boom, perfection 👌🏻
I think the one bead approach depends on how you’re taught. Here in America, i haven’t experienced the one bead impacting us in the way you explain. I learned it as a way to simply help create a platform so we can go back to the sculpture and fill in the gaps easier. For some, building with multiple beads leads to frustration. Basically the one bead creates a platform similar to a tip.
I find at times chancing that 1 big bead that's a tad too wet, then wipe, then mold, then pat...😳 2 or 3 beads work just fine. I can control them fast to dry. If 1 bead is a DO, then fabulous. BUT the temp in salon is NOT regulated. Too warm. Too chilly. More liquid. Less liquid. Find your own rhythm nail newbies☺. It takes time but once you have your own rhythm your own style your favorite brush, it will all fall together. Been a pro in the salon since 1983. Proud to be who I am. A nail tech.
The nail Suzie sculpted looks like a toucan's beak..could have been a thing though. Maybe the next idea could be to take inspiration from exotic birds?

i wish i could learn from someone like you when i was 18 and begged my parents to pay for my nailtech course. they taught me pretty much nothing and then i got discouraged because my nails looked awful and now, at 31, i want to give it another go and not be so hard on myself!

The main reason I think everyone sees this method as achievable within a short time is bc a 20 year old artist is who popularized it (Anacrylics) she’s quite young so it makes them assume it took her a short time to get it down. The thing is that she doesn’t usually show her nails from the side and when she does, there isn’t much apex. She mainly uses practice swatches so it’s fine but misleading.

I agree with the statement that one bead is the devil ! It is so rare that a technician be able to get in the proper structure and apex in the nail all in one bead. Especially a long nail.

Once you’ve been a nail tech for a certain amount of time & are comfortable you will notice you naturally start to do the one bead method, especially on shorter nails. It has its time & place however teaching the 3 bead method is best. But your never limited to the amount of beads it takes you as long as you get to where you need to be!

Hi Mrs. Suzie. As a former welder one beads never provide structure when length is concerned. Nail structure is not much different. It is pretty but very dangerous.

I've always had my nails done at Asian nail bars as that's all we really had in my area. They did one bead and its super fast, occasionally they'd put a little bit extra around the sides. But every single set I had would always lift and snap around the sides. They were always lovely and thin and I thought that was what it should be like to get a smooth blend down to the edges..
I have really awkward nails though as I basically have no side walls and the free edge curves down so they're basically a circle, so I always get lifting unless I have square nails that can come up to make their own side wall, but also every time I get extensions they point upwards like ducks. Not many places near me that use forms either x
