All of a sudden, we see this bald headed black dude running through the projects with a rifle while the Phoenix cops were all scared with their gun's out yelling at us, get inside, get inside. It was a trip because it looked like something in the movies.

Van Buren was the first track in Phoenix… right there on the East Side 24th Street. My cousins lived in the Mathew Henson Projects and Coffelt Projects which were several miles away and I was already knowing about the history over there. I was out there hustling at a young age learning the game out there on VB in the 90’s from the vets… pimps like Tommy James, East Side Stevie, 2 Tone, Super Kool, Boothill Slim, Gutah Mayne, Big Jay Reynolds, O.G Billy Noble, Kango IV, Lil’ Baller, Ronald Diamond, Telly Mans, Maurice Masters, Artie Keanu and Porter “Sweet P” Land.

100% that park used to be 13thst/ sur13. Until it got gentrified. Than it was overrun with homeless people. I know that park well cuz that's where we catch the freight trains down to Tucson. I've seen that park change and that area since I was a kid but boots on the ground since 18 on. That train yard used to have a homeless camp/ open market 24/7 from 7thst to 16thst. They cleared all that out about 20 yrs ago.
Problem with gentrification… it just forces the poor people out and they will move to another area and fuck it up the same over time. Phoenix is already starting to look like L.A. did in the late 80’s with Skidrow. With the housing prices drastically rising with all the transplants coming here from Cali and other states and the opioid drug epidemic it is only going to get much worse. While a lot of these older neighborhoods are becoming gentrified the other neighborhoods that were once considered upper middle class are becoming slums. Phoenix is becoming ridiculous with the housing prices and dramatic rent increases.

100% that park used to be 13thst/ sur13. Until it got gentrified. Than it was overrun with homeless people. I know that park well cuz that's where we catch the freight trains down to Tucson. I've seen that park change and that area since I was a kid but boots on the ground since 18 on. That train yard used to have a homeless camp/ open market 24/7 from 7thst to 16thst. They cleared all that out about 20 yrs ago.

Problem with gentrification… it just forces the poor people out and they will move to another area and fuck it up the same over time.
Phoenix is already starting to look like L.A. did in the late 80’s with Skidrow. With the housing prices drastically rising with all the transplants coming here from Cali and other states and the opioid drug epidemic it is only going to get much worse. While a lot of these older neighborhoods are becoming gentrified the other neighborhoods that were once considered upper middle class are becoming slums. Phoenix is becoming ridiculous with the housing prices and dramatic rent increases.
