  • STAY TUNED FOR A BONUS SURPRISE AT THE END!
Accessed from Christina Road in the north end of the City of Prince George in North Central British Columbia, the upper (north) end of Garvin Canyon provides a delightful snowshoe or hike in the winter months once the snow is deep enough to provide easier passage through the extensive brush and deadfalls. The canyon contains many magnificent old trees, representative of the general Prince George area in the 19th Century before widespread logging. The steep sides of much of the canyon likely protected it from too much cutting. The canyon is also an astonishingly rich wildlife refuge, hosting bears, cougars, wolves, coyotes, moose, mule deer, and a host of small critters, providing them a sanctuary from the surrounding roads and residential areas. The lower canyon towards the Nechako River intersects the Stuart Eskers complex that starts around Fort St. James, peaks in Eskers Provincial Park, and ends in Moores Meadow and Rainbow Parks in the city.

I like this video. I was glad someone was loving the forest that looks similar to mine. Then I read the caption. You're in BC I live on the west side of Stewart Mountain in Bellingham - in the woods.

Thanks for the comment. Garvin Canyon, thanks to its geography, hosts a small remnant of old growth spruce and pine forests that used to predominate around the city. East of us, in the Rocky Mountain Trench, we have globally rare inland temperate rain forests. Check out the playlist "Ancient Forests" in: www.youtube.com/@pgoutdoors/playlists.
