I’m so excited to play mine! I have one coming in tomorrow morning and as always, you’ve been a huge help on me deciding what drum to get. The price has dropped down to 50-59$ so I had to buy it off Amazon. I plan on using my Kalimba tabs on the drum, similar to what I’ve done with my lyre harp in the past. I’ve also gotten magnets to change tuning. I’m really excited to play this and figure it out, so thank you for putting out this video and creating good content, it helps me a lot as a not so musically inclined person 🥰😊😊😊

Looks awesome. The tuning is impeccable which is hard to say about the other drums on Amazon. I got about 7 different ones over the past 6 months and all of them made my ears bleed. 100% buying this one right now!

So funny I don't know how I missed this video It's funny how you me and Kale have touched on some do the things that we love about it and yet each of our videos has something different too Like yours had the magnets which i am so glad work because some of the others I have aren't And the fact that the tuning is spot on ! Haven’t recorded with it yet but plan to along with various tonal chimes, even if they don’t necessarily jive because sometimes dissonance can actually be a friend when we allow it. Thanks for what you do.

Hello once again a great fun video! Each time is see you with a tongue drum I just have to run and get mine to play afterwards!! Just another idea I use with the drum is I place a coloured parachute out and place a tongue drum of the same colour on each section of the parachute, this provides each person with their own space and when you call out a colour you can hear the person doing a solo. Hope it helps with anyone doing group work! I wanted to ask do you write your own music for the tongue drum ? If so Will you publish? Off to play the day away!! Thank you!
Hi, I love watching your channel. You are so sweet and positive. I just wanted to give you a heads up that your videos' volume / sound quality needs some improvement. This video is so low that I can barely hear you with the volume cranked up and wearing headphones. Other videos have extremely low volume in some segments and comes back up suddenly - almost busting my eardrums. You can use the free software Audacity to adjust your volume levels in post production. Also, investing in a quality clip on mic would help. I believe a better sound quality would greatly increase your subscriber count and view retention. Take care.
I’m wondering how the sound compares to a larger drum. Does it have that etherial quality, it’s so hard to tell in the video 😅 (I am buying my first one and I just reeeally want to have a good one under 200)
Molly, Roosebeck has come out with a European Mountain Dulcimer that is their version of a Langoleik - a norweigan instrument. It is brand new. Have you seen it? I am considering one soon. Cynthia
Hi Molly…I ordered this drum and been in contact with harmonic star and they say that I can use the diatonic numeric sheets in C and play it on this drum. Does that make sense to you.
Even if the drum is in dmajor like this one where 1=d not c like the diatonic drums. I am so confused ….I can play any numeric sheet music without adjusting anything.
@@suemartel2883 you really can! Because even though 1= D, it still holds the same relative position on the scale, which is 1! The only time this gets hairy is if you're playing with someone whose drum is in a different key - then it would definitely sound off if your 1 was D and theirs was C 😊

The tuning seems fair indeed for a mass-produced drum. Some harmonics are still a little off, but for that price it seems exceptionally good. :) If you look for really beautiful instruments and harmonics, I would recommend the Kosmosky drums, they are absolutely awesome - I own one, and you can listen to it there: ua-cam.com/video/Z3f_oMrfVeg/v-deo.html There is also the Beetroot, but the instrument itself is more... bland. And then there is the totally other range of the Rav drums... but that's another story.

I am a little more tolerant of slightly off tuning, but this one is so in tune it really sings 😊

Hi have you ever used the rubber finger rings? Mine sounds awful on the steel drum but the wood drum sticks work well.

Yes, you absolutely can! The number sheets should work with any numbered drum (or any drum with a full diatonic octave) 😊
