I am on hormone replacement and now have osteoporosis, a dirty mammogram, and a heart problem. My gyno told me not to tell my heart doctor I was on it. Im confused.
I recently went off of HRT after four years and feel SO much better! Has anyone else experienced this? I had premature menopause at 43, started HRT at 46, am 50 now and stopped two months ago. More energy, better sleep (I slept way too much on HRT), NO anxiety (had anxiety on HRT, but thought it was just me), better mood and happier. Has anyone else experienced this? I am doing research which is how I came across this video (BTW- I am female. Ignore name)
I find the MOOD issues more devastating than the hot flashes! I can go from happy and feeling normal and connected to depressed, anxious, worried and panicky in a matter of minutes! It affects more aspects of life than hot flashes... my relationships, my job.. all affected by my state of mind. I am currently on HRT patch. I am experiencing some relief from the mood issues, but it comes with side effects.. weight gain, headaches and severe bloating. There always trade offs! I have tried many different regimens in the past 6 months and hope to find the right one for me:-) Good luck ladies!! XOXO
I am considering HRT because the effects of post menopause are debilitating. Lack of energy, poor quality of sleep, body pain, anxiety, depression, fear, difficulty just moving, sometimes back to back hot flashes all day long, and I keep injuring my lower back, joint pain especially in shoulders and hips, difficulty walking, dizziness, nausea. Had some of these symptoms for years!!! My female doctor NEVER mentioned menopause, it was a 73 year old man who told me!
Just started this week, pray it helps with hot flashes, hair loss, insomnia mood instability, complete loss of libido, vaginal dryness, major brain fog with other less annoying symptoms. Was prescribed 4 different meds, test cream, estriol cream, progesterone and Divigel PLEASE tell me that there is a cheaper option!!!!! All of this is well over $300/month! At this cost, I will just take OTC Estroven supplement and hope it helps @ $10/month.
I’m thinking about taking HRT. I suffering with the symptoms, low mood, lack of sleep, sore joints and the hot flushes. I’ve been to my doctor 3 times about this and each time I’ve had to have bloods taken and they come back ‘OK’ with hormone levels normal. I’m going again today and think I’m going to insist they provide me with HRT because my quality of life right now is not great. I’m 51 always active and usually a U.K size 10 but recently although I don’t weigh myself, my clothes feel a lot tighter. No one seems to care about what we woman go through at this stage in our lives..
M B Do you still get your periods? Menopause is defined as absence of periods for 1 year. And average age is 52 (in the U.S.). measuring hormone levels is often not very useful. Women in Peri-menopause (the years before menopause) often experience similar symptoms. There are other options besides hormones also, like the antidepressant venlafaxine (the generic of it here in U.S. is inexpensive) and other antidepressants, But they typically alleviate the hot flashes and mood changes only. An OB/GYN referral may be helpful if your doctor feels more comfortable referring you to seek options. Hope that helps!
I tried something called effisoy and it works. I’ve been on it for the last May and it really works but it’s not dealing with the weight gain. But it stops the hot flashes and the insomnia. I take it in the morning on an empty stomach with water and I wait for at least 30 minutes before my coffee . It’s natural so it does not irritate my tummy. It’s all natural formulated pill
There are so many menopause specialists that say the total opposite of what she just said???? All the other pod cast from MDs specializing in Menopause all mention how flawed the study was and that they support HRT.
Thank you. This was very informative. I’ve been suffering terribly from hot flashes. I’ve had to call out from work several times because of how uncontrollably frequent they were after a sleepless night of drenched sheets😭 I just started HRT 2 days ago. I’m really hoping to feel better soon. I’m just eager to see the effects in other areas as well. I’ve been told that my skin will improve, as well as , an overall younger sense of well being. Is this true.. I’m so desperate for relief. I remember wishing my menstrual cycle away🤦🏽♀️... I’d give anything for it now that I understand my body and experiencing worse symptoms that a few days of cramps and bleeding. We women go through a hellav-lot.

I have not had hot flashes....at least I don’t think I have-mine seem to be anxiety related: meaning I think of or see something disturbing and I have a mild flushing. I have the weight gain (covid) and inability to sleep and the occasional night sweats, but they are not consistent. I still want to try HRT especially to address weight gain and loss of libido.

I have been on bio identical hormone replacement, almost 2 years. I’m 56 years old going on 57, on the 21 of January 2020. My doctor told me I be on bio identical the rest of my life. I’m taking estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone torches made in a compound Pharmacy. Need to know if this is safe.
Iliana Diaz It’s not FDA approved, so we don’t really know how harmful they are :( But it is thought that bioidenticals bind to same receptors and may have similar risks.
While I don't usually agree with these HRT doctors.....the "Troches" are oral versions and can be harmful to the liver as it is hard not to swallow some of them as they dissolve. Except for maybe hydrocortisone....most all of the other hormones should not be taken by any route by any pill to swallow. I personally use a Sublingual Liquid Pregnenolone which I put in my mouth for 10 minutes and then spit out and wash my mouth out afterwards. I do not swallow such hormones as progesterone, pregnenolone, DHEA or testosterone. Best things for Testosterone are injections (but creams can be used); progesterone is best as a cream (but make sure it is USP certified so that you get the dose you think you are). DHEA also good as a cream.
There are serious risks associated with HRT, as i've reviewed in my video. It's not for everyone, and pros/cons should be weighed when making this important decision.
@@elainehiggins2380 Withdrawal hot flashes are the main barrier when people stop. If my patients have withdrawal hot flashes when they abruptly stop, i work with them to wean off more gradually. Hope that helps.
Lynn No, eating indiscriminately makes me gain weight. However, some meds will do just that! Corticosteroids are notorious for it. Also, I gained 20 lbs. while on Remeron. I stopped it and the weight stayed on. Last year, I dropped those 20 lbs. on the keto diet. As long as I don’t indulge in carbs, I’m okay. I’m 5’4 and I weigh 126 lbs.

I have heard horrible stories about cancer and other problems. True or False?
There are serious risks associated with HRT, as i've reviewed in my video. It's not for everyone, and pros/cons should be weighed when making this important decision.
I am 64. I’ve been taking HRT since age 50. My doctor tells me I can take it indefinitely. What will happen if I stop taking the medication (Prempro)?
@@elainehiggins2380 Withdrawal hot flashes are the main barrier when people stop. If my patients have withdrawal hot flashes when they abruptly stop, i work with them to wean off more gradually. Hope that helps.
@@elainehiggins2380 did prempro make you gain weight?
Lynn No, eating indiscriminately makes me gain weight. However, some meds will do just that! Corticosteroids are notorious for it. Also, I gained 20 lbs. while on Remeron. I stopped it and the weight stayed on. Last year, I dropped those 20 lbs. on the keto diet. As long as I don’t indulge in carbs, I’m okay. I’m 5’4 and I weigh 126 lbs.
This is very outdated video. WHI was based on taking Premarin.
I though estrogen was good for the hearth.
Does this means that for woman over 60 is not working or useless in this age ?

It depends on your Estrogen Window. Check out Menopause Taylor here on UA-cam.
This music is unnecessary and distracting. :/
Agreed! This was one of my earliest videos, hopefully my more recent ones are improved!
@@MajdMD I'll check them out, thanks. First one I saw.
That background music is so distracting.
Brain fog and hunger pangs....for me.
