I recently went off of HRT after four years and feel SO much better! Has anyone else experienced this? I had premature menopause at 43, started HRT at 46, am 50 now and stopped two months ago. More energy, better sleep (I slept way too much on HRT), NO anxiety (had anxiety on HRT, but thought it was just me), better mood and happier. Has anyone else experienced this? I am doing research which is how I came across this video (BTW- I am female. Ignore name)

I find the MOOD issues more devastating than the hot flashes! I can go from happy and feeling normal and connected to depressed, anxious, worried and panicky in a matter of minutes! It affects more aspects of life than hot flashes... my relationships, my job.. all affected by my state of mind. I am currently on HRT patch. I am experiencing some relief from the mood issues, but it comes with side effects.. weight gain, headaches and severe bloating. There always trade offs! I have tried many different regimens in the past 6 months and hope to find the right one for me:-) Good luck ladies!! XOXO

I am considering HRT because the effects of post menopause are debilitating. Lack of energy, poor quality of sleep, body pain, anxiety, depression, fear, difficulty just moving, sometimes back to back hot flashes all day long, and I keep injuring my lower back, joint pain especially in shoulders and hips, difficulty walking, dizziness, nausea. Had some of these symptoms for years!!! My female doctor NEVER mentioned menopause, it was a 73 year old man who told me!

Was prescribed 4 different meds, test cream, estriol cream, progesterone and Divigel PLEASE tell me that there is a cheaper option!!!!! All of this is well over $300/month! At this cost, I will just take OTC Estroven supplement and hope it helps @ $10/month.

I’m thinking about taking HRT. I suffering with the symptoms, low mood, lack of sleep, sore joints and the hot flushes. I’ve been to my doctor 3 times about this and each time I’ve had to have bloods taken and they come back ‘OK’ with hormone levels normal. I’m going again today and think I’m going to insist they provide me with HRT because my quality of life right now is not great. I’m 51 always active and usually a U.K size 10 but recently although I don’t weigh myself, my clothes feel a lot tighter. No one seems to care about what we woman go through at this stage in our lives..

M B Do you still get your periods? Menopause is defined as absence of periods for 1 year. And average age is 52 (in the U.S.). measuring hormone levels is often not very useful. Women in Peri-menopause (the years before menopause) often experience similar symptoms. There are other options besides hormones also, like the antidepressant venlafaxine (the generic of it here in U.S. is inexpensive) and other antidepressants, But they typically alleviate the hot flashes and mood changes only. An OB/GYN referral may be helpful if your doctor feels more comfortable referring you to seek options. Hope that helps!

I started bleeding, had a sonogram and Dr didn’t see anything to be concerned about but that my uterus was somewhat enlarged and I had big vanes, he subjected a hysterectomy if I were going to stay on the pellets, that would stop the bleeding and also I was concerned about any kind of cancer. While I don't usually agree with these HRT doctors.....the "Troches" are oral versions and can be harmful to the liver as it is hard not to swallow some of them as they dissolve. Except for maybe hydrocortisone....most all of the other hormones should not be taken by any route by any pill to swallow. I personally use a Sublingual Liquid Pregnenolone which I put in my mouth for 10 minutes and then spit out and wash my mouth out afterwards. I do not swallow such hormones as progesterone, pregnenolone, DHEA or testosterone. Best things for Testosterone are injections (but creams can be used); progesterone is best as a cream (but make sure it is USP certified so that you get the dose you think you are). DHEA also good as a cream.
