  • A close up look at the flowers on my Oncostele Hilo Firecracker. I’m not a botanist but I enjoy learning about plants. A soothing, calm video.

Hi I have the halo fire cracker and it’s not doing too great it’s never bloomed out however I do have a new leaf but I would need to know about the roots on man the roots is like a bunch of hair hanging down from it and I wanted to re-pot it but I’m wondering if I repotted it wrong to begin with how are your re-potted in what kind of medium and how often do you fertilize it and when is the bloom time on it

Hi! I got mine in spike so I haven't managed to rebloom it yet. I hope it will bloom probably late summer. It has lots of new growth, but it will need time outdoors with good partial shade and warmth over summer to get it all the way to blooming, I think. I have it potted in oncidium mix from repotme.com. I only water when the bark is dry at least two inches deep in the pot. It's possible that the roots on yours aren't doing well - when you say they're hanging down like hairs do you mean above the potting mix, or do you mean when it was out of the pot they looked like hair?

I am parted it to look at the roots and that’s what they look like a cut some of them back like I saw done in a video and re-parted it and fertilized it so I’m gonna wait and see what happens but I heard they don’t go outside that you’re supposed to keep them inside are used to bark in the large size and the moss to re-plant

@@elayneplanche4031 No, they can definitely go outside in summer. Mine really benefit from it. Depends on your climate, but mine do not get enough light and warmth to bloom well spending the entire year indoors. Your mileage may vary.
