Back in the day. FPS were in a good purist place with Action quake 2, CS 1.6 and unreal tournament. Having enhanced mobility, or even developing ways of moving faster through maps was a big deal and players practiced a lot to get an edge. Then comes this little game from Blizzard that breaks a KNOWN convention. "Games should be decided by the player's mastery using a same avatar, not by the avatar itself" Yeah Blizzard took that rule and threw it in the trash. They broke the symmetric approach the rest of the industry had, with different skillsets for their heroes and furthermore the last drop was showing WidowMaker using wallhacks... a NO NO, a thing most players hated with a passion after being killed so much with it. I remember thinking MAN what are they doing WALLHACKS!!?? it really shows how well thought the game was in a way that you can give a squishy character good mobility and a game breaking power and still make it feel fair for everyone else To me what Blizz did was nothing short of amazing. They created the Pixar of the Arena shooters and singlehandedly painted the way for the next gen of shooters And yeah TF and TF2 did it before them, but they never advertised it. Never capitalized in what they had in their hands. The insistence of using the same color pallete made it blend in people's minds as not different characters, but just different models. Even tho' their skillset was vastly different. And Overwatch capitalized on that beautifully
@@lilbaphy I don’t think Overwatch will just die, I think its foundations are too strong for that. To get it back to being as relevant as it used to, though, will involve actual content being added. Which I suppose is where Overwatch 2 comes in.
the first and last time people cheered about a hanzo play
Its funny, I'm rewatching all these live crowd reactions to the trailers and I'm sitting here at my computer getting all teary eyed over it.
Omg same
same 7 years later, lol
@@howled0 same, 8 years later, 15 days before OW2 launches :')
You went all the way to blizzcon just to film vertically.. really..?
The good old days. I enjoyed it every day and it was always fun

Great vid, but no one seems to have 2015 Blizzcon reaction on the second gameplay trailer
I miss you Old Torb.
That reaction to Reinhardt always gets me.
Ya tengo OW2, pero ver esto me da sensaciones nuevas 🥹🥹🥹

Nice.
Who would've thought this game was going to die in 2019
Those were good times right there
It's definitely dropping in players, but it's not dead. It's just because they haven't added any new content for a long time for ow2.
