i actually think this is not dark enough, which is really surprising considering how tragic the back story of mei is.. i guess they dont want to make it too dark coz people of all ages play this game.
It's as simple as this: This was a short that did not warrant a lot of cheering. This one was meant to hit you in the heart, and the "lack" of reaction actually shows it working. People were invested in what was happening, the plight of Mei's loss of not only her fellow team members, but the only friend she had left in Snowball. This video was meant to invest you in the character, not make you get up and scream for joy. Look at it like this, no one watches a depressing movie and starts clapping wildly, so why would they with a somber story such as this?
Atlink Maybe because of the way it ended she revived snowball and went to join Winston and Overwatch? Maybe they where showing Blizzard they enjoyed the short even though it was dark and depressing.
Can we talk about how Mei was frozen for 9 years, finds out her friends are dead, invents a freeze ray, and still tries to show up for work despite being stranded in the arctic?
Meeba it couldn't have recharged at the ecopoint because Mei used the rest of his battery. The only way he survived was because of mei's solar panel thingy
Totally got the feels on this one. People don't realize how close snowball almost bit the bullet. With a completely drained battery and no life support to protect the little guy from the extreme cold the hardware could have been damaged, leaving the data corrupted and no more snowball.
The robot was the only thing keeping her company, and it was probably the only thing humouring them for all that time and preventing them from going crazy on all that isolation, you could clearly see how much she was attached to it. Like when someone that is hurt says "Go without me" on a movie, even though you know they have a better chance of surviving if that person stays behind, and even though you know they will be fine in the end, the act of sacrificing and separation is sad, that's just human nature.

its not that they scream at everything randomly, they scream when something cool/unexpected happens. if you dont like it, enjoy the youtube video they will eventually upload on their official overwatch channel. in fact, when people show their emotions by screaming/crying it means that they are enjoying the show, and besides that, it shows that they are human, not robots. its like watching horror movies: the whole idea is to get you scared - you cant enjoy the movie if you're not scared

Nah. The machines malfunctioned from time and batteries dying. And if they recharged on solar power but the storm went on for so long they couldn't charge, that's also a factor.

Remy Blas they were engrossed in the story. It's not an action packed character reveal like Sombra's. This is the right reaction to this short, it's not like the deaths in the short were any reason to cheer.
