There was a xylophone player on Britain’s Got Talent who played about the same tempo and I was so mad that he got buzzed. As a xylophone player myself, it takes a lot of skill to move your hands so fast while playing the right notes, and I aspire to be like this guy!
you should check this video out, this is what actually got me more interested in mallet percussion than I was at the time! ua-cam.com/video/o6TxRQDSIJg/v-deo.html
fr bro, one time our chairing (im still in middle school) was green scales in C at 200 bpm in eighth notes it legit took the most concentration ive ever had to harness at once in my life
@@maxwelltolar it only goes downhill from here ;) But in all honesty, performing at those crazy tempos makes all the practice so worth it. Take it from a dude who played in college. Go check out Rocky Point Holiday, I played marimba on that piece and it was…a lot lmao
Reminds me of the piece "Golden Age of the Xylophone" I played for my senior recital in college. Playing xylophone at breakneck speeds is such a blast! Very nicely done 👏
I cant tell the key at that tempo. But it looks like C. Props man, those keys are hard to play without sharps or flats to keep you anchored and evenly spaced.
@@vomm the piece looks like it is either in polyphonic or just simply a 1-voice melody, so it most likely isn't in a minor key as the composer most likely would use harmonic or melodic minor, which in this case no G# was presented. I could be wrong though, it might even be in some sort of mode. I'm not thinking about analyzing this piece, nor do I know the name and the composer of this piece. Edit: nevermind, it's most likely not in mode either. The first few notes were purely in c major chord triad.
@@captncuddlybear9404 apologies, perhaps I’ll call it the lower register. Or maybe the natural notes? Or maybe those ones that are like down below those other ones EDIT: make myself sound less like a dick

Yeah this is definitely a lot of skill but as a musician I hate when so much skill goes unnoticed but everybody freaks out because "OMG PLAYING FAST MEANS GOOD" not taking away from this guy cause its not like I could play this

Never trust britains got talent, the judges have no taste, and it’s all staged/scripted. Imo if you don’t agree with them, they’re always wrong
Agreed as a percussionist myself, that is hard.
Okay thats actually insane
You ain't heard nothin'. Look up videos of Teddy Brown from the 1920s-'30s.

Only true percussionists know how hard it is to play fast in the key of C on mallet instruments

Sounds like C I think... Not sure
it’s in c
you can tell itit's in C purely by the fact that only natural keys are being played except for the chromatic runs and the grace notes in the end.
@@BoardieLive Could also be Am with this approach only

One Word: Impressive.
perfect cut
thats crazy, especially on all white notes
he had a few chromatic runs at the end but other than that youre not wrong, def makes it more impressive

As far as I am aware. That is a marimba, not a xylophone
it is a xylophone ! a marimba is much much wider and doesn't have the same sound, and it's usually not played with these kind of hard mallets.
That’s definitely a xylophone, you can tell by the overtones.
That was good, not great.
