    A classic Daffy and Norm McCabe short. Surprisingly the 1st McCabe short on the channel. At least it's in the public domain so if they decide to privatize the short we can still see it on UA-cam.

    I love it when Jekell didn't react to the speaker calling him at first until he shouted "Hey Jerk!"
    Jekell: Yes
    Speaker: Duck!
    And the doctor ducked for cover

      @@stephenholloway6893 So this is one of the ones colorized twice. In 1968 Seven Arts did the bit of tracing over every other frame onto a new cel, coloring it and then photographing it over a colored background. In 1992 it was colorized digitally from an original B&W print.

    The cartoon opens with Daffy looking for Chloe, a reference to the song "Chlo-e (Song of the Swamp)", written in 1927 by Charles N. Daniels under the pseudonym "Neil Morét". It has been covered by several artists including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and most famously Spike Jones.

      @@PatrickRsGhost Yup. Part of the fun for me is finding out what some of those cultural references and inside jokes are referring to. Like the recurring *I'm only three and a half years (or seconds) old.* That was from the Abbott and Costello radio show by a character called Little Matilda played by a comedian named Billy Gray.

    • @PatrickRsGhost
      @PatrickRsGhost 2 дні тому +3

      @@FIREBRAND38 I love learning about the references and picking up on them later on. I got into old-time radio in recent years, and it always amazes me when I'd listen to an episode of Jack Benny, Fibber McGee and Molly, or Red Skelton, and hear them say a line I recognize from a Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoon, Tom & Jerry cartoon, or any other classic cartoon of the era. Even moreso when you hear a song from the era performed by a professional singer, that until then you only heard either the entire song or the melody on a cartoon.
      For example, the Porky Pig cartoon "Wholly Smoke" features the song "Little Boys Shouldn't Smoke", written to the tune of "Mysterious Mose". "Mose" was used in a Betty Boop cartoon of the same name.

      @@PatrickRsGhost Excellent. I'm really proud of the Wikipedia entry I added to the _Rabbit Hood_ page. In the scene where Bugs as the King is ennobling the Sheriff of Nottingham he makes him Duke of Brittingham. I tracked that one down and wrote this: *The reference to Duke of Brittingham was an in-joke. According to former Warner's writer Lloyd Turner in an interview, Brittingham's was a bar across the street from the Warner Animation offices.*
