I also really struggled with the timer because no matter what i did, it just wouldn't work. Realized too late that this other explanation for it that i found on youtube was seemingly outdated
What i really like about your tutorial is that you really explain the fundamentals. For example, you explain WHY you choose an Area2D and what is the difference between the other 2D physics nodes. Other tutorials just show how they do their game and not really delve into the decision making process. Thank you!

I cant find "character body 2d", theres only "kinematic body 2d", and Godot wont accept "velocity" on the script
CharacterBody2D is what KinematicBody2D used to be

5:40 My godot is giving me an error saying "velocity" is not declared in the current scope, what am I missing here, did they change what it's called since?
Did you change the extend Node2d to extends CharacterBody2D ? That might be the cause of the issue.
