I can do most things, especially since youtube came along. I would have appreciated seeing the actual dashpad install.....was that a complete dash replacement? or a plastic or vinyl skin put on the original cracked up/decaying dash. I have to tackle this project on my second restore of my 1979 stepside; also have the saddle bag 2 gas tanks and was wondering if the gage swap on previous videos (printed circuit) works with that arrangement - switchable tanks for readouts? Or, if I decide to leave my cluster as original, will the PC wiring overlay support placing a "thermometer" or another useful gauge in my empty spare slot? Thanks for the great vids.

This was a complete dash pad, we have another complete dash pad replacement video too that we did on our '75 Beau James, you'll find it if you search our vids. As for the various outher questions, please call the shop and we'll help you answer those questions. Too much to do here on UA-cam. Thanks for watching!

Clips are way harder to put in than this video makes it seem. Wish it showed close up when he put it in. The tab breaks if you try to bend it even barely past where it sits. I recommend buying extra retaining clips so you have spares handy

If you're struggling with the clips then check out our other video on installation of the Squarebody dash pad. It is definitely NOT more difficult than this and if you're having trouble then its likely you're doing something wrong.

Your "Don't be afraid to" just broke the tab. Now what.

Will a 78 dash fit in an 83 truck. I got one for free and was wondering if i could make it work

You can make it work. Just make sure to trace out all the feeds in the printed circuit and make certain they are running to the same gauges and lighting as your dash cluster is. If not, the wires in the plug can be moved around to accommodate.

Is it just me or on that dash pad does it seem to have the VIN number cut out I thought that wasn't there until 80
