Appreciate that Justin! Needs a whole lotta lovin’!!!!! I’ll chip away at when I can. Trying to plan a canoe solo but life keeps getting in the way. I’ll make it happen though.
If you think that’s big, wait until you see the next one lined up for restoration. 20’ cedar ribbed canoe with a fiberglassed outer hull. I can’t lift it alone without blowing out one of my boys if you know what I mean. That one is the winter project.
1978 I was 10 years old. and I was at Camp Becket in the Berkshires this time of year. they probably had one of those on site. that is a big boat 18' !!! so cool that you restore these old boats!
It is a big boat but not as big as the 20’ cedar rib fiberglassed boat waiting on deck. My wife is from the Berkshires. We just spent some time down there last week. Great area for sure!
Going to do my best. The repairs will last for quite some time but the location of the cold cracks as you pointed out couldn’t be in a worse location. Going to give it a go and see how the project turns out. Hoping for the best.
I was told a 74 but I believe it is a 78. Still pricey I would say but I was either only 1 year old or 5 years old so how would I know. At that age I just wanted my next popsicle…….lol. Hopefully it looks much better in the end when I am done! Hope you are well Ray! I need to watch your new video. Been busy lately but I will get to it for sure!
You are spot on….the canoe is in tough shape but I should be able to do something to make it at least aesthetically tolerable and fully functional. The good thing is I enjoy this stuff.
@@mainetripper. That’s true, I was willing to wait for the Bushbuddy, and pay the price, it’s quality and made in Alaska now . The Frybake pan I’ve been intrigued with for a while. Again made in New Hampshire, and then the finishing or surface is done in Massachusetts. Gotta love that ! The pan with the lid opens up a lot of options for cooking and baking. Cheers
It’s not pretty…… no bad steamers, just folkish sometimes….🤣. This canoe will solely be a lake canoe after the restoration. My job is to keep it floating. I think I can do that and then return it to the owner.
I think you are 100% correct. I did not research this particular model in depth and went on what I was told however I just looked up the Voyager model and everything about it is a Voyager. Thank you for pointing that out. The Voyager is a much larger version of the highly regarded Explorer per what I just read.
Awesome ! Can’t wait to watch this after dinner !
That thing needs some love. It's in the right place

I have gone down the rabbit hole on your restoration videos! Can't wait to see how this one turns out. That is a large barge right there!
Went out and got some G flex today. Can't seem to find the rustoeum primer.
Amazon has it for sure. Rustoleum topside coatings.

Oh tough one for sure with that double crack at the mid boat locations. A challenge for sure.

Pretty pricey for 1974 😳
Looking forward to seeing it in the end

@@mainetripper Your awesome ! I admire your effort !
@MeetMeOutside enjoyed your latest video Craig! Looked up the pricing of the frybake and the bush buddy…..they are not giving it away!

@@mainetripper. Oh and solo stove makes a copy of the Bush buddy, but it’s made in China, a lot less money, no thanks.
Are you sure you didn't have some bad steamers? I'd be planting petunias in that one. Good luck!

I believe this canoe is a Mad River Voyager. The Explorers were 16 and 17 ft. Voyager is 18 ft
