    I happened to be in this...
    We lost so much...
    All of our neighborhood gone.
    My house somehow stood.
    We had no power for a week..
    We couldn't go to school for 3 weeks, we had no signal so we couldn't get ahold of our loved ones...
    Everyone was so scared...
    I still can't believe I'm alive after all of this...
    All of the old building I went to when I was little...Gone...
    All of the memories flashed before my eyes...
    No body new it was going to be this bad...
    It was just supposed to be a category 2....The next day it was a 3....The next morning a 4...
    God I still remember the wind..
    The sound will never leave my head...
    Hurricane Michael may have taken our homes...Our towns or city's, but it will never take the memories we had...

    I left Panama City Beach Fl. with my boyfriend and went and stayed IN Callaway Fl. for the Hurricane. I was born and raise in Bay county, Fl. I have stayed for every TS and Hurricane that has every Hit Panama City and the surrendering areas for 50 years of my 53 years staying and no more. When the eye passed over the house it was calm and blue skies like nothing had happen until you went out side and saw all the damage. About 20 minutes lates it all started again but it seem like it was worst then before. There is 13 houses on the street damage range from almost no damage to almost destruction. I will tell you God had his hand on my family and anyone else that stay to ride out the Micheal. I have never been afraid of a Hurricane I am all ways out on the porch watching the weather untill its not safe to stay. But next year I will not stay for a Hurricane every again.

    Jeff it’s almost a miracle you survived that! I know you’ve been doing this for decades, but you really need to scope out better places to hole up during the height of these hurricanes in advance and get to your hole before the worst hits. You can’t document storms if one of them has taken you to the far side of Oz permanently.

    • @DebbieHund
      @DebbieHund 5 років тому +3

      Not only that, but Jeff doesn’t *stay* inside his vehicle. One of those power lines or supporting wires snapping in 155 mph winds and whipping around his way is more than enough to decapitate someone if it whips at their neck. In an earlier video posted on Periscope, he was under an eave supported by wires and they were making a high pitched twanging noise like they were going to pop right over his head any second. Had me scared to death for him. The helpless futility of yelling “Move Jeff!” at my cell phone during that live stream was unnerving.

    • @webraider1972
      @webraider1972 5 років тому +1

      He was shielded fairly well from the first half of the storm.. The building he was behind (or on the side of) was blocking the winds.. The second half where the Eye wall was behind him was another story.. He was shielded some but not fully. He wasn't in the direct line of flow from the wind as it was coming at him Diagonally from the corner of the building but he could have done a better job. He usually moves when the eye goes over to get on the other side of buildings. Still impressive footage. It's safer than the guy who chose to drive up and down the main road of Mexico Beach, through Storm Surge while the Eye was going over...

    There have been several comments about Jeff saying 185 mph winds. He was precisely correct, in that, he was speaking about the winds at upper-levels. If you watch his other hurricane videos he always mentions the speed of the upper-level winds. Generally, he is LIVE Streaming and explains this to the viewer. In this instance cell service failed and it is just something he said to himself. I (Kat) should have placed a notation about him mentioning the upper-level winds. Those who have followed him for quite some time know that he is speaking of upper-level winds and NOT Surface winds which is pretty obvious.

    There was an article I read somewhere that there is a good possibility, due to how low the barometric pressure got with this beast, that the NWS/NOAA could reclassify this as a Cat 5 once all the data has been analyzed.

      Holy shit, it's a talking muffin and due to radar possibly showing winds of 158 mph making it (if actuate) a low level cat 5 at landfall.

      The stations were destroyed around 130mph but some of them have black boxes. I've heard that some of those black boxes measured around 160-165 and gusts of 201. Those are post storm rumors, of course
      Theyll release post storm analysis eventually. Andrew took 10 years to be reclassified and was originally considered a 4 hitting at 155. Upgraded to 5 at 165.
      Lower pressure than Andrew, it makes little practical difference but in terms of impression it'd make a huge difference to call it a 5

      @@TheBacknblack92 NHC's post analysis will probably come out next year, so we'll know if they consider it a cat 5 by then. It took so long for Andrew because a different study surveyed it. The NHC post-analysis for Andrew was still 155mph I think

      great footage to put your self in harm's way one question why do you have to lower the Windows? does it equalize the pressure in your car ? is there some science behind that, if not PLEASE be careful I am just a concerned viewer, I had experienced Hurricane Sandy in 2012.( they had said it was superstorm ) no matter what that stillness is you think that it is over it sounded like a train then the. power went out , the building I was in I swear it shook, ( I believe it was around 1 am I was awake most of the night before that because the winds started picking up @ around. 7 o'clock that previous eve. that was quite. a so called superstorm... thanks for your commitment to keeping us informed & putting it on the line. prayers and safety in Godspeed to you.
