Or like Dr Stone.. kinda prophetic also if there is any other one posibility like this 2 i said here and above !!!
Bro is a manga financial advisor. Here before a million subscribers

Before 16k 😀😀
For shojo readers, the most expensive I would have to say would be Red River and Basara! They’re really great stories but they still only keep going up in price!
I’ve been looking into the crazy world of shojo prices for the sequel video.... absolutely insane!
Expensive ones off the top of my head include Higurashi, Umineko, Battle Royale, and Gantz
Also Vinland Saga
No longer human is 3 volumes and each are worth $100 on ebay
I'm literally missing just ONE volume of Umineko and it haunts me so deeply.
Mushishi
@@heyjessie1232 vinland saga? 😂 how is that expensive or rare
Glad I started buying/collecting GTO more than 15 years ago. Purchased the majority of the volumes for around $7 each at a convention, the most I ever paid for a volume was msrp of $9.99. Had no idea it was worth so much money until recently. It is one of my all time favorite manga series, so no plans to sell. Wish I owned The Early Years manga too, but they're so expensive now.
im always down for boogie-town!
the production-quality in ur videos doesn't go unseen
Boogie! This was seriously one of my new favorite videos from you. Really fun video idea with an almost perfectly excetuted editing style and commentary. There sure are some expensive series, wow! I wish some of them could be reprinted, especially GTO. I read some of it in the Swedish manga magazine Manga Mania back in 2002-2006. I bought 4 volumes of the Tokyo Pop published The Early Years but dropped it after 4 volumes since the release schedule was horrible. I would also love to get Oh My Goddess in English. Bought 3 volumes in Swedish back in the day and loved it, it's something special with the 80's art style 😊
my brother actually owns volume five of Mu Shi Shi. He bought it as an ex-library manga for fifty cents. It is one of the cheapest manga he has ever bought. It is his most priced possession at this point.
I think my most expensive manga would be Battle Royale. Out of print. A single volume was well over a $100 in some circumstances. Depending on where I could get it from. And there is a lot of books in the series.
And yes, I own the Akira box set. I too watched the movie first. I know it’s a classic. But it was weird.
Great video! These are some INSANE prices!! I'm so glad that Shaman King is getting a re-print because it's been something I've been wanting to check out for a while. Hopefully the omnibuses are good quality because I know Kodansha omnibuses aren't the best compared to Viz.
All these Manga in your list is so damn nostalgic. These series influenced the ones that come after it. Example would be Gantz, the whole getting into an accident then being transported to another place is a premise that you usually see in isekai
Love the content man. I would love to see a top ten list one day, and I’d also love to know if there are any series you wish u had.
Not a bad idea! I'll keep it in mind! :)
Pricey out of print series in germany/german that I have in my collection:
• Blade of the Immortal 1 - 30 (singles)
• Lone Wolf and Cub 1 - 28 (I have the english version)
• Shamo 1 - 19 (got cancelled after volume 19)
• Tempest 1 - 9 (has never been published in english)
• Rurouni Kenshin 1 - 28 (The Mangaka is trash, I know.)
• GTO 1 - 25 (we only got the main series in german)
• GTO 14 days in Shonan 1 - 9 (english)
• Prison School 1 - 28 (singles in german / omnibuses in english)
• Gosick 1 - 6 (a Light Novel that got cancelled after volume 6 out of 9 😖🤦🏼♀️)
• Adekan 1 - 14 (still ongoing / upcoming volumes are preordered)
• Karneval 1 - 19 (still ongoing / upcoming volumes are preordered)
• Kyo Kara MOAH! 16 - 21 (missing so many volumes..😖)
• Rave Master (missing only 4 volumes in my collection)
• Homunculus 1 - 15 (has never been published in english)
Hast du eventuell Liar Game Band 13 , 14 und 19 welches du mir verkaufen könntest?
@@darklight8549 nein, leider nicht. Habe gar keine Bände von der Reihe.
Seeing Oh My Goddess on here was kind of exciting cause I just finished getting the last books I needed to complete the series! But the most elusive one cost me $76 0_0 and is now the most expensive manga I own. I also have the Akira boxset. It's definitely the nicest boxset I own and I got it at AX 2019 (which is neat cause Akira took place in 2019). I'm trying out a Manga Spice Cafe subscription box this month and it's coming with a copy of the Shaman King omnibus. Really looking forward to checking it out. As for expensive hard to find manga; Higurashi, Umineko, and Mushi-shi give me nightmares. I've seen Higurashi going for $900 for one book.
I'm a long-suffering Mushishi fan. I knew when I saw the theme of this video that Mushishi would be on here. Mushishi is my favorite manga. It's not even a contest. It hurts seeing this rate second place. If you consider it's only 10 volumes, it's probably THEE most expensive $/volume right now. I'm so jealous of everyone who got it when it was first printed. It needs a second printing so badly, but I don't see that happening.
I have the whole series of Gantz! I read 20 volumes. I love it it’s perfect. The nudity is not something I would list when I talk about Gantz. There is nothing comparable. The life of the main characters is “ordinary” but it changes quickly. This manga gets you involved keeps you constantly looking for “what happens next”. Perfect art and deep characters with immense world building. Brilliant mind behind this manga. One of my favorite mangas I own.
Great video, OOP manga really go for crazy prices. Buying box sets is a great way to get long running manga series for significantly cheaper.
Great video. I own the Akira box set and I can confirm it’s great. One of the nicest things you can collect, I highly recommend it. Not only is the quality great but the story and art is great and it is in my top ten.
The editing & video quality though 😍
I collected the single issues of Epic Comic's Akira back in the late 80's and only recently snatched up the last two SUPER rare issues to complete the set. The paper quality and use of computers to color that manga for western audiences revolutionized printed comics here. Steve Oliff (considered one of the best colorist in the industry) was tapped by Ottomo to colorize his work. I know everyone has the black & white omibus box set, but the single issue colorized version is gorgeous.
The few manga's I'm searching for that make my eyes bog out when I see the price for a decent condition example are: Hyper Police 10, Btooom! 14, Suzuka 13-15, many Battle Angel Alita's especially volume 9 of the original run and 12 & 15 of BAA Last Order. But the hardest of all is Speed Grapher 3. It's next to impossible to find! Cool channel, BTW!
I really hope Black Jack gets a reprint someday because It's one of my favorite Osamu Tezuka series.
I own the Akira Box set, not opened it. Got it on sale for half price on Amazon a few years ago. Looks like it’s getting expensive now
You are so lucky for starting shaman king now with the omnibuses, having the last arc and the best arc thas was neer animated is such a dream to me that i can now fullfil
Shaman King was the first anime/manga that really got me into the hobby. I started buying the manga when volume 8 was the latest one on the shelf at the bookstore. Just checked my copies after you said it sold for so much and the only non-first editions I have are my volume 1 (4th printing) and volume 3 (second printing). I hope you do a reaction to my collection on stream so I can get your clap :D
No Longer Human is the fist one that comes to my head.
I've read and own about half of Rave Master & enjoyed it. But I'm a sucker for unique weapons and such,(like all the zanpakto in bleach).
The Oh My Goddess anime was fantastic, so I'm assuming the manga would be good too.
I've read a lot of Shaman King when I was getting the Shonen Jump magazine and really enjoyed it. Glad for the reprints so I can finally finish it.
Thought you had at least 1 million subs, super professional! 👏🏼👏🏼
My library has most of Rave Master! I didn’t know it was so expensive. Also I thought I would let you know that Gantz omnibus 6 is coming out in May and omnibus 7 comes out in September! 😁
Just completed my collection of GTO the other day, such a great pick up! also just started collecting sudome and mpd psycho today, found them for a steal at my local manga shop. I hope they reprint mushishi one day T-T
Used to Own all of Mushishi, Gantz and a portion of GTO and Ah My Goddess. Kicking myself now but I definitely plan on getting Mushishi back at the very least.
I'm guessing you needed to sell at the time to pay for other things? Not the end of the world as they can still be read online.
I am currently 4 books short of having all 25 volumes of the Higurashi manga. You can find the first ten books or so for a decent price, ~15-20 dollars a piece. The rest go for 100-200 dollars and a few peak at double that. I was judicious with my search and time preference and managed to snag a few of them for under 100 but these last four books are an ongoing year long struggle to collect all 25 books. PS I’m poor af so when I have them all it’s going to feel awesome!
Mushishi is such an amazing manga 100% can't recommend enough. I used to have the complete set but sold a couple years ago
Great video! I have bought the Akira box set last week for around 175 euro's. So I think I got a pretty good price on it since I saw it on Amazon for around 250+ euro's. I'm still waiting on it to be delivered but I just can't wait :)))
That GTO eBay sale also included vol 1-15 of the other GTO manga.
Seeing Oh My Goddess surprised me a bit, I remember reading the first volume from my school library freshman year. (I’m a sophomore in high school rn) I don’t remember have many volumes they had tho.
My first anime (and favorite) is a shojo is Fruits Basket, is about the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. While they redid the original anime in 2019 the TokyoPop versions are extremely hard to find coming out in the early 2000s. The 23rd (and final copy) of the series going for $200-$500 for the book alone! I know the Season 1 Part 1 Blue Ray Box set is currently going for $900 on eBay or mercari because it sold out so quickly. The thing about this anime is that since it’s based off the 12 Chinese zodiac animals there’s a ton of different characters that are considered “main characters” allowing the audience to resonate with it. I think the only reason it costs so much though (besides the limited edition /rarity factor) is that for the box set at least- it comes with exclusive zodiac figures similar to the ones seen in the anime. I’ve come to find that merch that is copied from the actual anime or show are always sought after. (ex, hermione’s time turner in Harry Potter might be more sought after than say a Harry Potter funko pop since the actual object was incorporated into the movie)
Akira also had a run on Dark Horse comics that I used to own but was damaged when a pipe broke in my house years ago. I've since bought the box set, one of my all time favorite manga series.
I actually am finished collecting Shaman King, just bought vol 32 today (I started collecting before I knew that the kodansha omnibus were coming out) and they are soooo expensive. The last listing I saw on eBay for the full set was actually like $2k or more. I now have all of them EXCEPT 31, and I'm giving up on the physical copy because I can't find that one for cheaper than $800!
Also I have up to vol 18 for Rave Master. It's pretty dope and I recommend it if you can get past the many 90isms (oh probably worth mentioning it's the same mangaka who did fairy tail)
It's been a while since I've heard of any of these series being so pop. Makes me wanna sell some of my rares.
wow, Shaman king was the first manga I ever got, and one of the first ones I completed back in the day. Didn't know it was worth that much.
I fucking died when the Zelda dude came up for Oda’s picture 😂😂😂
Just checked Facebook market place, someone was Ellington 7-29 and 30-38 of the original akira comics for 1k so boogies research seems pretty spot on
Someone gonna spend their stimulus on these😭
LOL i would say that's a safe bet
One series I love, Blood Blockade Battlefront, is ridiculously difficult to get for a good price. For just 10 volumes, which aren't available digitally, I'd cost you quadruple if you're lucky. I managed to snag most of them for about cover price or just over, but the one volume I'm missing you can't even find anywhere anymore (but it was only available for over $100).
Cool vid. I haven’t spent nearly as much as you have on some of the later entries.
I honestly haven’t spent that much on single volumes, but the manga I spent the most on was the complete english set of Sensual Phrase by Mayu Shinjo. I got 18 books for $410, so about $22 a book.
I LOVE Rave Master!! Seen it in 2000 one of my fav,im gonna start collecting it
The TokyoPop Fruits Basket singles, the entire Peach Girl series and 20th Century Boys singles, and Kyo Kara Maoh!. Are some series that I want that are hard to get. The only place that doesn’t have them be too expensive is Half Price Books for me but it’s a different location.
So many of these mangas mentioned as expensive were mangas that I have read during middle and high school. Am quite surprised that now they are worth something lol
In Brazil, some of those are being published or it'll be and, if it's already out, you can sometimes still find for retal price, but It's not easy. Similar crazy prices are found
Really nice and informative video! I've also heard that manga series called Phoenix is really out of print and going for a really high price. Berserk omnibuses are one of the expensive ongoing new releases but the quality does look great. I've never watched Shaman King before, so I'm looking forward checking out the new anime!😀
This video is highly flawed because he didn't mention PHOENIX.. 1 volume sells for over 1k
Out of print mangs collecting is one of my major hobbies. Some of the series I own as of now are Air gear, blade of the immortal singles, witch buster, battle royale ultimates, rave master, ragnarok, chobits, vagabond singles, negima, pandora hearts, vampire bund singles, genshiken singles, and buddha. Finally starting the long road of hunting down the gantz singles. Absolutely love this video. Booger army forever!
didn't pandora hearts get a box set not all that long ago ?
@@trevor245 yeah thats the version I have. Went oop a few times. I think you can still find it pretty easy though
I think Gin Tama and Yu Yu Hakusho BTOOOM! Slam Dunk.. Are mangas u should buy now.. I think they could be valuable if they don't reprint the singles..
@@teacherevan3476 i have all of btooom but I have been wanting to read yu yu hakusho for a while now for sure
GTO was my favorite manga series for ages, I collected them when they were first being published by Tokyo Pop when I was a teenager into my young 20s. I recently moved and found that I somehow lost the first 10 volumes over the years. It cost me about $130 to collect those again. I count myself fortunate that I got them at that price and it was largely due to me being patient and looking at multiple online used book sellers waiting for the prices I wanted.
I had a cool story about Mu Shi Shi. I bought 5 of the volumes at a Good Will when I was like 12 years old for very cheap. This past year, 13 years later, I found them in a box with my old manga and I was able to sell them for a couple hundred!
4001Q play by younger you.
This video both made me feel old and sad I got rid of my manga collection mid 2000's and I had almost complete versions of more than a couple of these that I read when they were being released in US.
5 years ago my yoga teacher was selling his og shaman king collection for like 120 and i still think about it. I was into collecting retro videogames at the time but i love manga now haha.
Pandora hearts, I only own three volumes and they are difficult to get. Even the box set is ridiculous but it's a favourite so I'm still planning on collecting the volumes somehow
That's a lot of money! I wish there would be a reprint for Battle Royale... By the way, I have that Akira boxset and I don't regret buying. The books and the story are gorgeous and you get an art book as well.
I need to get more Black Jack volumes. It was the first manga I picked up when I found volumes 1-2 at a flea market and didn't even know what it was. Later found volume 3 on a trip to NYC and haven't gotten another volume of it since :/
First series that comes to mind is Pandora Hearts-- It breaks my little heart, I have 1-8, 11, 13, and 18-20 out of 24 (I think) Vols. It's the first series I started collecting and i stopped buying them a few years ago but now that I started trying to collect them again I found out it's out of print !! TT^TT
Mushishi is so beautiful, you'll love it (I hope!). And the G in Ginko is pronounced like the G in Gantz (all Gs in Japanese are said like that).
My brother got me volume 1 of the Berserk deluxe edition, now i’m obviouslyyyy going to continue with the deluxe’s rather than double dipping with the single volumes. Not nearly expensive as the manga in this video but 50$ a volume is still pretty crazy
I love mushishi!!! It’s amazing but don’t binge watch it ! 2 eps a day is way to enjoy this masterpiece
There’s an antique store near me that has a good chunk of the original Japanese saint seiya volumes for a few bucks each, I really should get them
Phoenix is what popped up in my head first
I recently got a hold of some Gantz singles for a (relatively) good price and I was stoked! But then the realization set in that I’ll probably have to shell out ton more to get the rest haha
Maybe we’ll get lucky and Dark Horse will do some Deluxe Editions like with Blade of the Immortal or Berserk. Not gonna bet on it though lol
The English version of Blood Blockade Battlefront is 700 for the complete 10 volume set and it doesn't have a digital version that I have been able to find.
I already own all of GTO The Early Years and I'd love to own the original series, but it's just so expensive. Even 14 days on Shonan, which has been released more recently, has some early volumes that are hard to find for a decent price.
I’ve been collecting in Japanese recently, so I forgot how expensive English manga is. A Mushishi full set in Japanese is like $30.
Umineko. It's out of print, I managed to find the omnibuses for the 7th arc and the 8th arc but only some random ones from those.
Oh, I believe you can find GTO on Mercari.
Man lucky! I’m reading the visual novel and it’s now one of my favourite stories of all times
I doubt I'll get them though. I can't afford $50 one just one omnibus.
@@tsukiakari3493 That’s fair
the akirabox set is absolutely amazing, and yes 150 dollars is expensive but if you do the math its a fair price. and it gets reprinted frequently.
Akira original Marvel/Epic series (80s), the last five issues came out years later (90s). The cover price was like $6…back when Jim Lee X-Men was a $1 cover price. As a dealer I sold at least 10 sets of those last five. They ranged from $55 to $80, per book.
Definitely Red River and Basara. I am lucky to have Red River completed - Basara, on the other hand, I find almost impossible to complete, since some of the books are not even available on any of the platforms I know of. So, even if I was ok with spending hundreds of dollars for one volume, I could not easily get them all.
Finished my single volume set of Gantz last month because I found vol 33 for 4 euro's in a bargain bin. The latest series I bought was Eden it's an endless world 1-14 for not even 60! Man I was surprised when I found that.
Hey Boogie! Basara, From Far Away and Red River are also ridiculously expensive and rare 😭😭😭💔💔💔
Didnt know how mad thé prices were out there for manga , makes me feel lucky to bé in France cause most of all thé list Can bé found easily enough , very intresting vidéo ☺️
Top ones I can think of is gantz, the jojo hardcovers (any hardcover releases), battle royal, lone wolf and cub original releases, and literally anything a dark horse releases a year after it comes out (dark horse suck booty at keeping stuff in print)
GTO I watched the anime and I have heard it is hard to find. Rave Master I have seen one or two youtubers able to get the manga for it but they didnt buy it in order, they were able to get random volumes but they were still able to get it. Rave Master is the same author for Fairy Tail so I did watched the anime for Rave Master a bit. Akira is another one I've seen some youtubers had and yeah the box sets is big and can get a bit expensive.
Also good luck, hopefully you can find some of these manga your looking for.😊
Damn I learned a ton in this video my wallets bout to be hurting
I watched rave master growing up. I loved it to death. Recoded it on vhs tapes.
Oh my god some of the knights of the zodiac volumes are so hard to find. I literally only need volumes 16-19. It was a childhood favorite
what are good resources for finding rarer manga? I'm looking for Hana and Hina After School, Vol. 3 in particular but can't seem to find a physical copy anywhere online including ebay so I was wondering if any of you have ideas for websites to look for manga like this.
Gantz Vol 6 is coming out May 11 so it’s still being published. And as for most expensive stuff I own I have Otomo’s Domu and Memories and had Tayao Matsumoto’s No. 5 original English releases.
Amazon also shows Gantz Vol. 7 releases on September 7th.
Lupin the 3rd, GTO, Initial D and Nana. =_=
Oh, man, Rave Master. I found someone selling 20 books for $40 so I jumped into it not knowing anything. Getting those remaining 15 books is so hard. I mean I'm happy to have what I've got of it but I should've looked more into how much I was getting myself into. I also have Oh My Goddess started, the first 20 volumes, but it's just so long right now, near 50? I don't usually have series that long. I've definitely not been paying those prices though, just lucky finds I guess. I'm excited to collect the new omnibus' of Shaman King.
There are a lot of series I started collecting, quite a few of them are even shorter series and all of the books but one or two will be easy to find, but those 1-2 books are always $100-$400. It's just frustrating. A lot of it is just the version I want though. Like the original Fruits Basket, I can't find book 23, but it's been remade, it's just the onmibus are a different size and that's going to drive me insane. Collecting the blue spine Ranma 1/2 books. The single editions of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Etc.
Hearing these prices though, maybe I don't have it as hard off as I thought I did. :P It was a neat video.
Im attempting to collect the entire I"s series and vol 9 and 15 are insanely hard to get. Ive seen vol 9 go for anywhere between $500-$700 for just that one volume
Mushishi and Twin Spica. Also looking at quantity, I think Berserk is a contender too.
My guy make a top 10 if you wanna
gantz (singles), phoenix, corpse delivery service (singles), some volumes of btoom, mushishi, lone wolf and cub (singles), eden its an endless world are the series im trying to get and are expensive for me
I saw volumes 2-3 of mushishi in my school classroom well damn time to loot those
Buy the Akira box set. It has a special extra book which is worth it. Additionally, the sound effect characters are in original Japanese which I prefer as it is part of the art.
For me, Black Jack and Fist of the north star I want desperate.
The latter is close to impossible to track. I really hope it gets a reprint especially like a Berserk deluxe type iteration or atleast Hardcovers like Jojo.
Mushishi I have lost hope of ever collecting. My all time favorite manga.
great video man
Homunculus manga: It sadly got no English release but in europe it does.
In Germany its sold out long ago and it will never get a reprint because the publisher Egmont went bankrupt once. I bought all 15 volumes a few months ago and it cost me 360Euros to get them in a descent condition. The original price back then was 6,50 euros. now it would be 7euros(that's the standart manga price in germany:7euros=18cm and about 200pages)
Definitely hellsing, the 10th volume alone goes for a lot, and because they haven't reprinted it in singles it's value is still very high, though if you discount the three Bible additions it's still a pretty penny for that version in itself
It deff was Shaman king BUT, the Omnibuses are coming out sooooo 😂
Oooh, and whaaa! 21 volumes of Saint Seiya was going for around 95 bucks on the Swedish equivalent to Ebay some weeks ago. I wanted to buy it but didn't have the cash, plus I don't want to hunt for the 7 missing volumes. But volume 1 was in the lot! Didn't know that it was so expensive 😳
I have volume 1-6 of shaman king I had it since middle school and I didn’t know it was rare
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer is a very rare and quite expensive one
he was explaining rave master at first i said “dragon ball?”
I wish boogie mention that the creator of rave master is the same one as fairy tail and eden zero.
I've been looking for the Trigun Maximum omnibussess for YEARS and I can't find any for less than $400 each 😭
