I can totally understand the idea of slipping more obscure characters into waves with established names as chases that bring people into stores. In fact, I actually like the idea that some things should be found on the pegs vs. on the screen... But, on the other hand, when Ambush Bug (who is also almost entirely reuse) can be a full mainline wave release, I dont understand making slightly less obscure characters like Question into Platinum Chases with only 1/6 per case. Especially when he's not a redeco of either of the figures in the wave (Cyborg/Red Hood). Even when i can understand the idea behind the practices, the choices for what should and shouldn't be a platinum are baffling to me. Imho, Platinums should be figures that, while some people will really want, most people can pass on without impacting the collection (story specific redecos like White Lantern Captain Boomerang, or the Hugo Strange redeco of Adam West Batman).
Yes!!!! I absolutely agree! I am 100% certain that the Question would sell more figures than Hugo Strange as Batman. Actually Hugo Strange's head should have been packed in with the other Batman! There was no need to make that a slot in a wave.🤦🏾♂️
It's so hard to be enthusiastic about this figure no matter how cool it is because of how hard it is to find in my area. At this point they could get a whole WALL of these at Walmart and I wouldn't even bother.
I definitely wanted this figure and I'm super pissed he's a Platinum Chase. So sick of this and Todd needs to stop. I do kinda wish that they used different suit legs though, because the pinstriped Joker legs just feel to thick or large for Vic. I think the Nolan Scarecrow, or Harvey Dent legs would have worked better.
I remember seeing this dude when he was revealed for the line. But didn’t have any dice finding him at any of the Walmarts I usually go to. Also I hate how he’s a plantium figure because he’ll be hard to find alongside other characters who are under it as well but I hope people will be lucky enough to find him though. In terms of accessories, he should have come with another fist hand or other unique hands that have been done lately and maybe a file that he can hold in his hand because he’s detective. My introduction to the character was through Justice league unlimited and I love his voice actor. Great video nonetheless Jason!
Hy Jason, Just want to give ny congrats to you. I found your Channel some months Ago and subscribed, love the format of your vídeos and the fact that IS really entertaining, not Just another Guy showing a figure If you know what i meant. Any way, keep the awesome work your vídeos, play nice, and have Fun lol... Love your multiverse vids
Help me out. Is Max Mercury more sought after than The Question? The only characters at my local Wal-Mart are 4 flavors of Batman, Hugo Strange (dressed as Batman) and Max Mercury. (There are three collector editions in the electronics department.) All of them are peg warmers. I counted the six pegs for three weeks and the same number of figures are there. Adam West Batman is the only figure to sell in three weeks (maybe longer). I would have at least bought the QUESTION if he were on the pegs. THE ONLY McFarlane DC figure I would even consider purchasing right now is Lightning Lad. But $30 is too much for such a simple figure that isn't an essential favorite.
Do I love this figure? Yes. Am I glad that I was able to find him in-store for retail? Absolutely. Do I think that this should be a platinum for what we get in box? Absolutely not! If it weren't for the fact that I do adore this character and think it's a fantastic sculpt, I wouldn't have bothered trying to find him! There's not enough in the box to constitute or justify trying so hard to find him, and the precedent this sets for McFarlane as far as their platinums go is depressing. It shows them that if the character is popular enough? They can be exceptionally lazy because the demand will still be there for just as much effort.
Todd Father is making it kinda hard too collect certain gold and platinums figures but I was able too buy a big collection of DC multiverse figures for real cheap still in boxes owner got fed up he claims he kept missing out on certain figures and he wasn't going too be paying that after market prices
I can't believe the time I decide to pass on something I slightly wanted Mcfarlane wise is the time it turns out to be really hard to find and pricey on the after market. Hopefully McFarlane decides to release more (maybe in a JLU 2x pack with Huntress). In the meantime I'm happy to have the DCUC version.
I'm a huge fan of McFarlane's dc line but his decision making for this line has been subpar to say the least and the people that defend him make it even worse almost to the point I kinda wish he would lose the dc license just to prove a point to not fuck with the fans that Todd McFarlane is so good at doing!
I give this figure a 5 star rating. I'm GLAD that it goes with the JL Unlimited colors, rather than the colors from the back panel art. Depending on who illustrates The Question, he's either in a light brown suit and trenchcoat, or a blue suit and coat. Personally I'm glad that Bruce Timm designed him with the blue outfit, as it pops more and even though The Question influenced Rorschach's Watchmen design and character, Rorschach is iconic in his own right, and everytime I see The Question dressed in brown, he looks too much like Rorschach. All that being said, this is the ONE Platinum Edition figure that I REALLY, REALLY WANTED. I found him at Gamestop on a random bisit to see what they had, and the other figure that I walked out with was The Digital Silver Age Joker. I'm not going to Target or Wal-Mart anymore, they always have @$$ on their stinkin' shelves, and carry NOTHING NEW.
Most would say that the Question is a useless character but I personally think he looks cool because I know his appearance from Batman The Brave and The Bold and while I may not have him, He is definitely part of DC, Great review.
I hunted for this in store repeatedly. No dice. I guess I consider myself lucky that I got it for $35 on the secondary. I'm really dialing back my McFarlane purchases after this one. The whole platinum thing is really off putting. We should just be able to buy a product we want.
@5POAFigureReviews I've seen a lot of exclusives there that probably shouldn't be there's some of the crisis on infinite earth wave there I couldn't tell you how they're getting them, I'm considering get a job there to figure it out lol
I’m new to collecting these Mcfarlanes and I’m still not sure how these platinum works? So is this an exclusive to Walmart or if I order a particular wave online, there’s a chance I could receive this? If so, what wave would that be? Thanks in advance
So the way it works is that Gold Labels are exclusive to a specific store, whereas Platinums are not exclusive to any one store but are short packed and harder to find. Sometimes they are variations of a specific figure, like the Blue and Grey version of Batman Reborn. In those situations, you can sometimes get them just by ordering enough regular versions. This however is part of its own wave, and is really just luck as to whether or not you can find it.
As a big fan of the old Ditko Charlton characters (like Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, and The Question), I really wanted this figure, and was extremely disheartened when I found out it was going to be a near impossible to find solo release Platinum edition. Luckily I won the McFarlane EQL drawing and was able to purchase him for retail price plus shipping. But we shouldn't have to count on dumb luck or a lottery system to get the figures we want. It's a really stupid business practice. And who is it who decides which "obscure" characters deserve mass release and which ones don't? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. For example I've seen tones of Commander Steel figures hanging around at my local target and he's less mainstream than The Question.
I have a hypothesis that stores don't want Gold Labels as much as they used to because they aren't selling. So instead of giving a character like the Question to one store, he's making the same number and spreading it out to every store. That way there are fewer peg warmers. I don't know this for certain, but based on all my Target's Fires and Commander Steels, and all the Vampire Shazams and Max Mercurys at my Walmart, it feels like that could be the case.
I’d like to make this into a custom Clark Kent switching the head and if possible remove the hat from the head so it could be on other figures. For those crazy prices scalpers want for him I could just get a suited wrestling figure for a custom suited Clark Kent.
I hate these platinum figures. I live in Scalperfornia, so the odds of me finding anything noteworthy in a store are slim to none... and I refuse to pay more than retail. I just do without.
What they choose for platinum compared to what they choose for gold label is insane. Yesterday, I bought a platinum Grid figure....just cause it was a platinum. It's a sickness, lol.
I figured it was a long shot, but I was hoping you'd do some head swaps with some Superman figures, because I think Question here has some potential for a Clark Kent custom
This is part of new thing McF is doing where they are using Platinum Editions as a way of just doing super limited figures. So this one doesn't have an alt version. He's just hard to find.
@@5POAFigureReviews Thanks. Dick Giordano had worked for Charlton and was a DC exec when the Action Heroes became available, so he made it happen. DC history would have been very different if that hadn't happened. I prefer the Charlton versions of the characters, but I am glad to still have them around in any form.
Thank you, but this one I did have to do some external research on. I knew some basics like him being a Charlton Comics character and the basis for Rorschach and whatever the cartoons I saw him in though.
Rating 4 for the packaging?, and the image on the packaging doesn't even match the figure, in my opinion you have to be less generous with the notes, when they get the figure right they get the image on the packaging wrong.
*The fact that the Question was voiced by Jeffrey Combs in the JLU cartoon show makes him so much cooler!*
I did not know this, now I wish I got this figure. Jeffy C is one of my favorite actors....ever. lol
I forgot that! You're right. Everything is better with Jeffrey Combs
*Re-Animator Rules!* 💉
I was hoping you would try the Digital Bruce Wayne head on him or Supeeman. I was hoping to make this figure into a Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent.

I totally get it. There are a few already I've resigned myself to never finding. I honestly never thought I'd see this one in person.
(1:12) 🕵♂He's a smooth. criminal.🎵🎶🎵🎶🎹🎶🎵🎶🎶😅
🤨Make this a super custom MJ in black & white.💡😅
That would be cool
I definitely wanted this figure and I'm super pissed he's a Platinum Chase. So sick of this and Todd needs to stop. I agree. To be a main character on JLU and make him a platinum makes me....question....TddyMac's decision lol
I read that as TobyMac, and that is a very very different person lol
@5POAFigureReviews haha he's at fault for this too. Somehow ;)

Since he is a martial artist, some other fighting hands would have been cool too
@5POAFigureReviews exactly, it’s a bit redundant to not give him another hand that allows him to do combat with the other hand lol.

I have seen a lot of Max Mercury, so I don't know. Sorry
@5POAFigureReviews what do u mean? Have u seen him in a lot of comics or have u seen a lot of the toys in the store?

Not a big fan of the question. But would make for a fantastic 🛃 custom 💙
A few possibilities there for sure. Clark Kent, Commissioner Gordon, and Sandman for example.
@5POAFigureReviews how about Denny the spirit 🩵💙
Fitting you sneak in a 1984 reference in a review of the Question. Anyway, a Montoya-Question would've been better fir Bat-family shenanigans.
Hey! I wondering if someone would catch that reference
Absolutely loved The Question in the Scooby Doo and Batman Brave and The Bold crossover. I recommend it, it's great.
Haven't seen that one. Will have to check it out!
I want this figure.
Hope you find him
👍

I’ll need 2 one to keep in box and one for a custom
Yes, I’ve been waiting for this one.
Awesome! Hope you enjoyed it
This is one I really want but I don't feel like working that hard to get it.
I totally get it lol
Most would say that the Question is a useless character but I personally think he looks cool because I know his appearance from Batman The Brave and The Bold and while I may not have him, He is definitely part of DC, Great review.
This would be great for making Q from Street Fighter.
I can see it

Agreed
First platinum I ever found locally he was in my Canadian gamestop
Oh awesome. I don't think I ever seen one at GameStop
@5POAFigureReviews it might be a Canadian thing since we don't have target we get their exclusives it's weird
@5POAFigureReviews I've seen a lot of exclusives there that probably shouldn't be there's some of the crisis on infinite earth wave there I couldn't tell you how they're getting them, I'm considering get a job there to figure it out lol
good review, not on my list but cool charactere
Thanks for the kind words. He is definitely not for everyone
I mean, we have a Peacemaker and Captain Atom figure now, so if we ever get a Nightshade figure, we'd pretty much get all of the Watchmen archetypes
True!

I think he's worth it but unfortunately I had to go to Ebay!🤦♂️ I did wanna get another to custom a Sandman but I doubt I find another.
Ooh I didn't even think of Sandman. Nice
Found mine at Books-a-Million.
Sweet!

I was thinking this feels like a direction they might go for Clark. Tan coat, grey suit, Reeve face. Bingo bango bongo
I did a Sandman custom.
Very cool!

Man that's rough.

I hope you can too

I hope you can as well

I dunno that all green Platinum Grid is pretty sweet
YES, THE GOAT
Jobbythehong if he were sane
Never thought I’d see Jobby mentioned here 😂😂
The real question is where can I find one without paying double the price I can't find one anywhere
Target
@MoEl-yt6eo thanks luckily I found one on Mercari for $30 which wasn't terrible for a platinum
I figured it was a long shot, but I was hoping you'd do some head swaps with some Superman figures, because I think Question here has some potential for a Clark Kent custom
I think that is a great idea. Keep an eye out for my review of BvS Superman vs Doomsday. I'll do it there.
@5POAFigureReviews nice! I'm looking forward to it!
I'm confused, if this is the platinum edition what is the regular edition?
This is part of new thing McF is doing where they are using Platinum Editions as a way of just doing super limited figures. So this one doesn't have an alt version. He's just hard to find.
@5POAFigureReviews oh, i heard that in the video but i thought it was a new thing he is gonna do in the future, thanks
That head could be a proto Clark Kent head
I was thinking the same thing. Particularly Reeve.
What character is that?
That’s the question .
I’m so done with platinum edition, what isn’t a platinum edition at this point? I personally saw this in a Walmart over an hour away and passed on it
I might have to get him and Huntress
If you know you know
(Hears Platinum) Oh… nvm
I'm still hoping I can find the Platinum Huntress, as that look was my introduction to her
@ Oh I was personally talking about Question being Platinum 😅
Good luck finding Huntress though. Hopefully you can find it for a good price 🫡
To be honest, if you can't find him and know how to customize, this would be the easiest character to make.
True
Day 11 of asking for a review on MAFEX Hush nightwing
You don't have Peacemaker?
Had him, but sold him along with Bloodsport and Polka Dot Man.
@@5POAFigureReviews I sold him too, and I regret it now.
Anyone have any luck picking this guy up?
I did
Nope, I didn’t see him at the Walmart I went to today.
I did
DC didn't buy Charlton, just the Action Heroes line.
Ah yes you're right, good catch!

Answer: No.
Jason I'm quite impressed with your comic history knowledge.

Honestly, fair argument
Not enough face swaps
Check out my upcoming BvS Superman vs Doomsday two pack video. I'll be doing a few in there
