Thanks This will come in handy I’ve had mine since it was brand new and never needed to change it yet and I use it a lot. Does it actually need soldering coz I have a EX7 workstation and changed that battery a few years ago and it was just a slot
You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. This model does need desoldering and soldering for the battery change. You can buy batteries on Amazon with the solder tabs attached that allign with the holes (search for CR2032 Lithium Battery with Solder Tabs), or you can install a battery holder like I did to make changing the batteries in the future easier. Be careful not to damage the PCB traces when desoldering.
I would also mention it is the same battery holder as you would find on just about any old computer motherboard. Same size and same battery. If you have an old broken computer laying around, you could just desolder the battery holder and reuse it.
You have to bend the pins to fit the holes. They are not a direct fit, but there is enough length on the pins to adjust. If I remember correctly, I think I left one pin straight and adjusted the other pin to fit.
@@RyansCustomShopandGearOutlet Thanks! I will try that. Looks like you were doing something like that in the video and for me the dimensions were off about 0.5 mm so see if it works.
In short, the battery is for internal memory storage. I'm not sure if a bad battery would prevent a power on. As I recall, this unit powered on with a no battery error message. As shown in this video, it requires desoldering the old battery from the board. You can purchase batteries with the solder leads attached, but it's easier just to install a holder for easier future battery changes.
@@RyansCustomShopandGearOutlet 😂 Exactly, maybe grow some hefty sideburns and buy brown clothes. Yes! you do need more cowbell, always. By the way, very useful video when you fiddling about.
@@dundergod awesome! Thanks! I actually had a drummer that used a cowbell during a show once. The cowbell didn’t make it to our trailer after gig. Lol!
@@RyansCustomShopandGearOutlet Well, they do seem to have a life of their own and I have vague memory about fitting them to the drumkit. They always fell of or made life for the owner unbearable, cause if you want more Cowbell. You have to hit it, hit it really hard. Right 😂?
I had one of these the pads were not all working turns out the two plastic layers between the pads and the board had just shifted and there was some dirt in between easy fix.
not sure i'd want to leave it that way, but the corrupt voice edit buffer (prior to reinitialization) sounds pretty badass :) cool vid, thanks!
You’re welcome.
My RX7 is still working fine after all this time.......I love it.......
Very cool! It’s unusual for a CR2032 internal battery to last that long in any device. You might have a world record battery. Lol!
Great video! What kind of battery would you recommend as replacement of the original one of RX7 ?
Thank you. It is a CR2032.
@@RyansCustomShopandGearOutlet Thank you very much!

Hello where did you get the new battery carriage from that you soldered to the board and what number battery did you use?
Amazon and CR2032

Hey did the pins fit? or did you bent them to fit?

@@WalyB01 the one I used had plenty of pin length to bend into place. It's enough to make contact and solder.
What does the battery do? Mine won't power on and the power adapter is still good. Would the battery prevent it from powering on?

Yes! You…know I…do…need more…cowbell! (in my best Christopher Walken voice).

It’s voice no 63 on here, very clunky

Why the black blok at 5.40 ??? secrets ? 🙃
No, that’s my OttLite desk lamp that got in the frame. I didn’t know it until after the video was finished.
