Black Ops 6 on a CRT Monitor

- This is a really fitting game for a CRT monitor if you ask me. Thematically, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 takes place in the 1990s, which happens to be the same decade my DELL M770 CRT monitor was manufactured! Neat!
I haven't been playing a lot of videogames recently so you can probably tell by the lack of skill displayed in the video. I'm not here to show off any kills, I'm just here to show what BO6 would look like on a vintage or retro CRT monitor!

I WAS THINKING THAT
Or we're in a retro-futuristic world where CRT monitors are still the norm.

@@hieu2k It totally does!!! It also just feels way smoother no matter the refresh rate. 0 latency!
It doesn't seem that smooth for me imo, or it's just the PC itself lagging
@@tarekcat1 UA-cam downscales all videos to 60HZ or FPS. It’s something you have to see in real life.

This is so trippy to see such good graphics on such an old display tech. Very cool haha
why does UA-cam keep giving me aesthetically pleasing UA-cam channels at 3AM every night, it's it's it's beautiful!
it makes the game look ultra realistic and outdated at the same time
Yeah the shadows look soo smooth
Spending all the money on intervals then skimping out on the monitor… I feel you
bro lives in 2004. he time traveled twenty years into the future. he cared not for the world as he only wanted to play some video games.
some say he was looking for a more ‘realistic’ fps video game. all he had was the upcoming release of Counter-Strike: Source.

I like that the game still perfectly supports this screen size

This is legendary. I remember rocking a 1600x1200 CRT back in the Windows XP days way before all the HD craze aswell. Much respect, keep the old skool alive my dude!!!
Now this is an immersive setup
Imagine making some streamer rage with this setup lmfao
this is weirdly really comforting
If you somehow get your hands on a CRT (I've even some for free, old people moving and giving them away) and compatible hardware I highly recommend revisiting it from time to time. Once you get past the annoying CRT whine it's a very cozy and nostalgic experience playing games on hardware native to CRT tv's.
I don't know what this aesthetic of recording is called but I'm digging the.
1) HD recording upscale(?) to 1440p.
2) Instead of 16:9 it's 4:3 with black bars
3) CRT
@@MonoNonsensicalProduction I record in 1080p but upscale to at least 1440p so that UA-cam renders the video in VP09 encodec.
What black bars?! I see no black bars here… 👀
@@MrFireseth oh dam i guess it's from the theater mode and full screen then. It's very cool either way.

I would want to set up like this for playing older games, would be a really cool aesthetic for a retro game room
That's the dream! Remodel the entire room to look like a 1990s bedroom or something

i love CRT's for motion clarity. No ghosting. even on OLED displays, especially 2D games it still looks awful unless you have high frame rate then add black frame insertion but that dims the brightness.
gotta wait for Q2 2028. There will be 1000hz OLED monitors then which could get very close to this level of motion clarity ( at least to the human eye it would look the same pretty much ) and honestly a 1000hz OLED overall would be a better choice than a CRT, as long as you can hit stable 1000 fps ingame lol.
@@PahEz Yeah its gonna be a lot lomger than 4 years before most computers can output anything at 1000 fps christ
@@XDevonBueno Depends on what games lol? I have no issue hitting 1000fps ( literally stable ) in old cld games/clients like IW4X, H2M. Also on cs2 I get stable 800fps as well and I don't even have the best pc exactly. Rtx 4080, ryzen 7 7800x3D, 32gb ddr5 ram. In about 4 years when 6000 series is here, or at least very close with new cpus, it will be not an issue at all to hit stable 1000fps in competitive games. If you are only strictly talking about triple A games then ofc not, but 1000hz monitors are not meant for SP/slow paced games anyway. It's only use is for fast paced/comp games " for now "
Who knows, maybe in 15 +years 1000hz is absolutely normal to have in SP games as well.
@@XDevonBueno So again, those monitor are only meant to be used with the " best " pc setup and for someone who only plays competitive, fast paced games. There will be many games where you can easily hit 1k fps stable in 4 years cause like I said, I can already hit stable 1000fps at 1440p Extra on some maps in H2M ( a cod client built on MWR engine which came out it 2016 iirc )
@@PahEz GSYNC PULSAR WILL BE ABLE TO GET OVER 1000HZ MOTION CLARITY EQUIVALENT WHILE RUNNING AT 360HZ.

Nothing is as good as those tube tvs instant reaction time
CRTs make games look better with backlight bleed. They're also super smooth.

Bro is definitely a time traveler
This is what Black Ops 1 looked like to me back in 2010.
Jokes aside, CRT hides imperfections, so games actually look better on these monitors/TV'S
Bro it makes it look like war footage love it .

fun fact crt monitors have some of the quickest response times out of any monitors, hence why most melee players still play on CRTs

Chief's setup is so ancient, he's using the morse code telegraph his great-grandaddy used in Verdun as his keyboard.
Real

How great to see we’re going backwards.
*FUN FACT* - CRT monitors are LEGIT amazing for gaming because they have basically ZERO response time, some are locked to 60hz but the response time of the monitor is less than 1ms - Some CRT's had a 240hz refresh rate and were WIDE SCREEN.
If you can find one cheap, its better than some of the best monitors that exist today
Yeah fact but go and bring a CRT to an E-sports event. Here is another fact, you'll get your ass handed to you as well lol.
i have a feeling this is too good to be true but i also want to ignore the feeling. There HAS to be some sort of catch or downside to this, right?
@@SeraphProtocolit's due to the fact that it's an analog signal, no digital signal conversion on the process like any modern displays
@@SeraphProtocol the catch is that even the most HD CRTs are never going to be as high quality as the best HD gaming displays, but it also displays colour and vibrancy a little bit more accurately and better, however washout is real on a CRT, so blacks with the brightness cranked up just appear washed out and HDR is pointless.
So as long as you can setting with having;
1. Something thing that weighs as much as a small child on your desk
2. No HDR and overall lower resolution - _kinda_ (technically, it could output 4k but you wouldn't be visually seeing 4k as accurately)
3. The lack of wide-screen (4:3 mainly)
4. 60hz cap normally unless you get a specific model without it.
5. Chonky plastic vibes and a bezel you ignore but cannot unsee..
Those are technically downsides but the ups outweigh imo
@@Cleimannn no, it has nothing to do with it being an analog signal, in fact any PC CRT monitor made since the mid 90s is going to be doing digital processing even on the analog signal. the real reason is because the CRT tube is not a sample and hold, but rather displays the image via scanning. this exploits a weird thing with the human eye known as "persistence of vision". modern OLED displays have tried to simulate this via black frame insertion but it doesn't work very well.
Dude had real time display
Cathode ray tubes contain the power of the universe on a micro rather than macro, which would be like a nuclear reactor. I might be wrong in drawing the comparison but that's what it feels like when you think about the technology itself being able to run that game.
ok but this actually makes sense because of the games time period and ascetic, but its hilarious. They should've given us 90s graphics
I would love to have this type of setup.
Seth your channel is pretty cool why don’t you have more subs?
Is it just me or are tv and monitors kind of downgrade in terms of latency?
It's crazy because CRTs got better response times that most modern monitors.
that refresh rate is unreal
I had OG CoD1 on a computer like this back in the day (i feel old now 😅)
I've seen you try to play MW3 in your previous video and say that there we're black bars when trying to play in the aspect ratio of your monitor. I've actually tried doing the same a few weeks ago and discovered that you can edit the config file to manually change the aspect ration, which removes the black bars. I don't remember the full process but you can try searching 'stretched resolution' tutorials for the steps. Great video by the way!
