There’s a lot more history to that town like how that place was way more bigger than it is now but in the 1930s and massive fire gutted the town and the whole area near the spring house sits on a massive limestone cave system and during world war 2 it had a German prison camp? But I’m not to sure about that and there’s an actual sulfur springs but it’s in the Stephan foster park
Another wonderful batch of memories. My brothers lived in the 'Pickin' Parlor' at the other end of the block from Adams store. I went to the spring many times, but don't recall swimming there. Had to repair my bike at the old wooden gas station after riding over from Live Oak. Thank you.
When I was a kid in Shalimar FL (near Fort Walton) there as an an abandoned barn we we visit in jungle. There was a fresh water Lake Lorraine. It was opened to the Choctawhatchee Bay (saltwater).
The First building was the Three B's Restaurant, they had really good food!! * Fun fact both President Teddy Roosevelt and Henry Ford visited the Spring House to bath in the water. * The little gas station building, was converted into the town library for a while. I spent a lot of my days there from '99 to 03''.
indeed Tampa Jay..that red rolling thing on the porch of the hotel, is for putting out fires there for the lower portions of the establishment, in case of fire.
Fascinating.... I used to visit Florida in the early 60s when I was a kid with my parents, but don't remember this. I'm sad that so much has fallen aside in favor of modern craziness. Thank you for this look into Florida's past. ❤️
Man, did this ever bring back some memories!! I grew up a few miles from here in Lake City, FL. My Granny and Grandpa both had relatives in White Springs and they took me on many Sunday afternoon drives to White Springs. I remember all those old buildings, the general store, that old gas station, and of course the springhouse. I remember being scared to death standing on the top deck looking down into that spring, to a small child it looked like a mile down to that water. Back then Hwy 41 had a slightly different route, there was a parking lot near the spring house not far from where the museum is today. I even remember when that old Suwanee River Motel was open, and I've heard rumors that for a time it was open but not a real motel if you get my drift. Thanks for a nice video, lots of great childhood memories!!
Jay! We love love love these kind of vlogs!! It's what got us started watching Adam the woo. Please never stop making these whenever you get the chance. Thank you! Amsterdam Holland
I loved that old store, it has so many interesting things and old things too! Love the old Springs and to bad it went from four floors to one, that was really a neat place! Really good video, loved it! Thanks!
wow - great to see these old places with all the fittings etc. ! love roadside abandoned :-) Springs must have been dope back in the day Great explore and town. Thanks TJ. .
i watched this video and then i saw Adams General store on American Pickers today. Mike and Frank were trying to buy something for Dollywood. How cool is that ?
@@TampaJay it was an antique store when the pickers and the ghost busters were there. the ghost busters. ua-cam.com/video/-WCUk4oL2dE/v-deo.html and it was in an Allen Jackson video, Little Man
That's one of the things I love about traveling through Northern Florida seeing old roadside attractions and historic buildings. It's sad to see some of these places abandoned, but at the same time fascinating to see a slice of the past.
At 6:28 that is definitely not an '80s soda machine. I grew up in the 80's and I used to see the occasional old fashioned soda machine like this one. Although I thought they were cool I was always a bit nervous putting my money in them because they often took my money without giving me a soda. Maybe it was just because I was not good at pulling the soda out the right way, lol. Anyways, those machines are more likely from the 50's and 60's🙂
In the grassy area just in front of the balcony at Sulphur Springs there is a filled in pool. You can follow the edge of it all the way around making a sort of 8 shape. I wish they would bring all that back.
It occurs to me that I have never really seen the inner workings of a gas pump before. Interesting. Kind of sad to see someone's failed business closed down like that with contents still inside. The old Suwannee Hardware store you found does look awesome. You always bring us some really cool finds. And White Sulphur Springs was fascinating too. Thanks for taking us along Tampa Jay!
I guessed correctly 👍 When I saw your selfie on Instagram at the former Springs location, I knew where you were. Never been there but it is on my list of places to go.
I really enjoyed this video, Jay! I love these old towns! 222 miles away from home, I really need to get down there. I'm still restricted to 100 miles for work purposes, but your video took me there. Thanks!
fantastic !!!! put me down for the $1 tub bath and the $3 treatment for high blood pressure... the meat and cheese diet doesn't seem to be working :-) ha ha ha
!st You never heard of Stephen Foster? OMG 2nd Its not Sue-on-eee River its pronounced Suh-waa-nee River. Listen to the song Old Folks at Home on UA-cam. 3rd. Your laugh is annoying. Otherwise I enjoyed the video.

This is great Jay we as humans are destroying the earth. I now understand why the Indian cry
So why does the water look so nasty now?
Probably the river backing up into it
You should go over to the old abandoned Hillmans bridge over the Suwannee river . It’s covered in graffiti
Thanks my friend. That popped up on my radar don’t know how soon I’ll get there but that’s definitely someone I’d like to see one day. Looks awesome
