Seeing my comment 4 years ago, I’m back watching this video! I’m picking up a well maintained / Modified example this week running 220 bhp, to say I’m excited is an understatement!
A friend of mine has a track R53 mini running 250hp, to say I needed to change my pants after is an understatement. Crazy power running in such a light car. I had one 5 years ago but didn't modify it. Good content man, can't wait to start uploading again. Inspiring.
I love your driving style. Soft, correct accelerations, lots of control....
Even after 5 years with an R53, the supercharger whine really never gets old. MPG is bankrupting though :D

@@esaedvik i had some mustangs before my coop, i had v8 stangs that would average like 13mpg when driven hard, my coop got 23mpg racing back roads and leaving the revs at 3k+ and it has 15% pulley, cai, and exhaust.
@@jacobjustus5602 Yeah, but you probably don't have $7-8 a gallon gas prices or 60 mile daily commutes to work xD Unsurprisingly, I drive a 55 MPG Prius now.

Haha love that whine! I put D2's under my 06 back in 2014. When I tell people to this day I have coil overs under it they always ask how much I've lowered it? I laugh and say I live in New York it's lifted about an inch and a half! With OZ's!

i own a 2005 S convertible 2 years now i do this shit all day and it never gets old most people never drove one they really do not know how they handle they punk them off i owned a 911 and ferrari 308 i enjoy driving the mini more it out handles them the turns are a riot great of fuel 05 and 06 super charged S models are the glory years for the newer mini's

I just picked up a nice 1 owner 05 Mini Cooper s with 92k miles. From my first drive I though oh yeah this is gonna be a fun car. Definitely not the fastest but the chassis feels great and they car does what you want it to do with awesome feedback. I really enjoy fwd cars for road racing/ togue style driving. The first couple days I had it I had already ordered a bunch of stuff for it.
Is that Gibraltar road/ San Marcos Pass? Lol, I just got a mini and recognized those roads.

If the owner set up his suspension correctly with at least -2 camber and sized wheel and tires properly there would be no rubbing. Some inner fender trimming may be required.

Headers, exhaust,intake,pulley, ignition , rims and corresponding upgrades .
It's not fast but it's very quick

Since R53 had JCW upgrade pack available that could be installed by the dealer after purchase and was rising power to about 200-210HP, I assume the owner simply installed all parts and the ECU map from JCW kit, hence the "eye-balled" power of 200HP.

I have 2 salvage accounts and woke up this morning to find I bid and won a 2003 Cooper s unrecorded with an engine noise....I can’t even remember bidding ( alcohols fault ) it turned up on a low loader and it’s mint condition and fully loaded, and the engine noise is an alternator bearing and it owes me........ £400 :) needless to say I’m going to tune the brains out of it now after watching this

I have a honda ep3 thinking about trying out a euro , what should I check on the engine to make sure it ain't beat up !? Some local dealership is selling one for 3k .
Steevnb * check it sounds right m8, main issue is tim9ng chain tensi9ners etc. But yea check it runs quiet on cold start Any weird tapping sounds or weird noises kicking etc leave it. Make sure everything electrical works and there is no leaks on the floor under or around the car. And just check for the usual rust . Make sure all the bonnet gaps etc are equal if there off could if been in a bang. It a always hard c9s you never know. We just bought one a fee days ago a modded one it has full service history and seems to have been well looked after. Just had a new mot and only a tyre as advisory. Hopefully it'll turn out ok we've just been stung badly buying a car

I've just upgraded my 05 r53 to a stage 3 and ready for the upgraded supercharger.. can I get a real UA-cam channel and make more than this guy?? I'm not hating, but 200 bhp isnt that hard on a stock r53. It's just a 15%, cool air intake, plugs, and a bigger intercooler... but, I do love the speced out black. I'm pushing about 275 bhp right now and only want more!! Good video though man!!
Benjamin Wimer I have a 05 R53 as well since new, the car is no longer my daily driver and am looking to turn into a very quick canyon carver. Would love to know what you have done for mods to hit the 275 mark that’s serious HP with the super charger

they're just the facelift tail lights, came with models for 2006 r53s
The car is a 2002-2004 pre face lift it is not a 2005, the 2005 has the reverse lights in the tail lights

17x7 et40 to et45 should work. You can probably go a little wider if you lower the offset.
HighEX1857 I have the Kosei K1 TS in a 17x7 with a 42mm offset mated to 215/45R17 tires with no rub.
Want to stop the scraping from the tires. Stiffen the suspension on the coils. The dampeners. He should have em if not then he should get a pair that do
Now I’m torn between the R53 and R56
R53 all the way . R56 have to many expensive problems . Avoid r56 with N14 engines and get a newer r56 with a N18 if you do get an r56 . The N18 is slightly more reliable than the N14 junk engine . The r53 is only a little slower stock but with a pulley swap it's faster and a lot tougher than either r56 stock turbo engines .
I know it's a year old but just to add to this, I owned an R56 with the N18 and still had a lot of issues. Looking at an R53 at the moment currently in an Ep3 Type R, something about the minis is just so fun.

Sounds like it has a smaller supercharger pulley
Think you mean smaller pulley or a reduction pulley 15-17 or 19%. Increasing the pulley size would make the supercharger spin slower and force less air and reduce the performance.

YJness mine is, but I have a black Mini; but any color is better than the alternative, plus it makes you feel like there’s much more headroom :-)

That is the result when you focus in the engine and not in the suspension tuning. Imposible to turn fast.

R53 is the best mini out of all the modern best handling power wise you need to turbo conversion the r53 really to make it a track car or throw allot of cash at it to get decent power anything close to 250 you looking Injectors cam manifold and exhaust reduced pully and bigger top mount cooler allot of money.
