Thanks for the update.
What should also have been stated is that for bigger built runners or varied environments there can only be ONE!
Well done PUMA...
Much appreciated Nick ✊🏾
The Puma D2 is king...absolutely love the feel. I daydream about it when I'm not running!
I thought I was the only running shoe daydreamer
Same!!!
have the velocity nitro 2 and d2 is coming, I hope it fits the same, because I have a wide foot that really suited with the VN2.
is it a good shoe to pair with the NB 1080v13?
@@cns187 nb 1080v13 is too soft . good for recovery run /lsd.
Since getting the Boston 12, I've started appreciating the Deviate Nitro 2 SO much more!
why? :P
Why??
🤦🏻♂️
DN2 is goated.
Built like a tank, soft enough for recovery runs, respnsive enough for tempo runs, comfortable and consistent enough for long runs.
Most durable and trustworthy outsole of any comparable trainer on the market.
Its almost perfect for me.
how long does the midsole typically last before losing its bounce , my only concern is the durability of the midsole?
@@Ous_Sama Im 750kms on pair #1. It hasn't lost anything.

Thankyou for the review. Now I wanted these DN 2 although the DN 3 was already release.
Big big fan of the Puma, feels comfortable and effortless when cruising
I must credit Nick for buying the Deviate Nitro 2. I got the collab of Puma x Ciele. I am yet to take it for a run, but given these thunderstorms, I'll most likely need that notorious Puma grip to not skid around
I just ordered the Puma’s yesterday as they have the 75th anniversary colorway on sale for $122 and just started a free 30 day run trial on them.
As a easy pace runner, Deviate Nitro 2 is more accommodating from daily miles to tempo runs
Boston 12 for me. My legs still feel fresh after a half marathon. Recommend them for tempo n long runs. Though the tongue n laces sux.
For pure grip on wet days, esp on muddy gravel, the Puma must be the better choice. That outsole looks like an absolute beast.
Loving the Puma.
Just bought a pair Puma Deviate nitro 2 for 85$ here in Malaysia. The best shoes for me and my inventory yet.
If only Adidas made a Strung version of the Boston 12, it could well be the ultimate super trainer. The fact that the Boston 12 is available in a wide fit makes it my favourite super trainer that I've been able to try, although the Superblast is a very close second. Keep the comparison videos coming!
Fwiw giving information whether or not widths are available for shoes would be very useful. Adidas generally ran narrow for me in the past so I'd likely need a wide fit.
Thanks for all the great reviews. Just ordered some Saucony Endorphin Speed 3s through my lical store. Also bought some Hoka Mach 5s recently too.
I have a wider forefoot and narrow heel and recent adidas including the adidas Boston 12 and pro 3 that I have should work well for slightly wider feet. This is in sharp contrast to adidas of the past which were far too narrow for me .
I tried several brands of running shoes but always had plantar injuries repeatedly, and was able to recover from the plantar and run comfortably until now with Puma running shoes.
same, only in Puma shoe I can run comfortably, and I have bad knees.
The Boston 12 is my favorite shoe atm. Don't mind the upper except the tongue is a bit flimsy. Once it's properly on its no problem though.
Agree I have Boston 12 and lots of criticism of the upper . It isn’t that bad. it just isn’t super cushioned so have to be a little careful when lacing but has caused no issues for me .Plastic mesh is light and speedy and does not absorb water in hot sweaty or rainy weather.
The new Kiprun KD900x has come out, I'm sure Nick will probably be keeping an eye on this one.
Any plans to review it soon?
Hopefully a bit more top of the range compared to the older version.
Helpful Review. Thank you, Nick. A thought on the audio. It sounds as if you are using a computer or camera microphone. It would make a great difference if you were to invest in a real microphone.
How does the Boston compare to the Takumi Sen 8 as they are £89 at Start Fitness at the moment
Thanks for the review. Random q; What are the socks with hoops you’ve got on at 2:51?
Would be interested to know your experience on how they compare on runs over 3 hours?
Surprising, I would have guessed you would take the PUMA.
I have both and they are currently my two favorite daily trainers. Also have the Speed 3, which I like but not as much as the Boston 12 or the DN2. For non-plated, I also have the Novablast 3, Mach 5, and Rebel v3 and amongst those, I lean towards the Rebel v3 although the Mach 5 is also a great all-round daily trainer.
As for B12 vs DN2, the B12 is the more exciting, propulsive, and speedier shoe but the DN2 is really good at virtually anything you throw at it (including running on mild trails) and is more comfortable although not exceptional or outstanding at any one type of run. The upper, tongue, and lacing of the B12 aren't great but, once you fiddle with them and find the right balance between good lockdown and comfort, you don't even notice them and just end up enjoying the ride provided by the great midsole. I find them different and complementary.
How does the Boston 12's midsole feel & perform compared to the Takumi Sen 8/9??? I LOVE the midsole of the Takumi Sen 8. For sessions and for tempo runs
I just tried both and it's the Boston no contest for me. Pumas felt like just another daily trainer - with the Bostons I felt like I could run all day.
The fact that Puma Deviate Nitro 2 get lots of comparisons means it’s a competitor to reckon
I recently got into running shoes, and regarding Puma and Adidas, tried the Velocity Nitro 3, Deviate Nitro 2, Boston 12, Takumi Sen 10 and Adios Pro 3 by doing sprints and jogs at different gears. The Velocity felt a bit too dead and weighty for my preferences, reminiscent of better EVA shoes of old. Still, it had outstanding grip, and cushioning and stability that are hard to complain about. The Deviate 2 was a natural- I immediately felt like they were a part of my feet with extra spring, and that I could do anything in them. The Boston 12 was the only pair which took some getting used to (only a minute of burning through different gears and striking positions sufficed though). It was light and somewhat responsive, so I was eventually tempted to perform some extreme agility movements with them- however, this led to the conclusion that they were not quite stable enough (I survived executing the moves, but felt as though the shoes would slip out of position and my ankles might give at several points). The Sen 10 were great performers, but firm and demanding (literally). They will only output what you put in and amplify it cumulatively, so be prepared to give your all. Still, they make it feel worthwhile, and they definitely felt nimbler and more stable than the Boston 12. The Pro 3 were in a league of their own. Comfortable, stable and so monstrously propulsive that merely walking in them felt downright wrong. In Harry Potter terms, running in the Velocity 3 is like flying in Ron's flying car, the Deviate 2 is like Harry's first flight with his Nimbus 2000, the Boston 12's like trying to ride Buckbeak, the Takumi Sen 10 like the serious (pun intended) Firebolt and the Pro 3 like getting a lift from Fawkes :D
One thing that's hard to decide for me...
Would you pick the WTR (waterproof) or normal Deviate Nitro 2 for the rainy season?
Waterproof versions are often a lot warmer than the regular ones, so I prefer the regular ones as long as I can get away with it. Heavy rain and/or lots of water on the road = WTR. Light rain and damp roads = regular version. Don't know if it's any help, I make sure that I have a weatherized shoe for the winter months, so I have both.
The DN2 is listed as an 6mm drop not 8mm
Thanks for the interesting comparison! Just a small comment: I can really recommend to stick to shoe size in length (CM) or US, which usally is fixed to CM. Both EU and UK vary. You have had the smaller shoe for the Adidas here. Apart of NB sticking to CM/US never failed me, while EU and UK can. In particular Puma is a bit weird here. Reebok has strange EU sizing, too but not sure about UK.
100% true. But asics is also weird in CM of you're a US10.5. In general brands seem to be most consistent in US sizing.
100% true. But asics is also weird in CM of you're a US10.5. In general brands seem to be most consistent in US sizing.
@@bbnd5476 well, just stay with cm is safest and easy. But overall and point here: comparing fit of different sized shoes is a bit weird
@dirkh2122 I just said CM is weird for Asics. They don't have a US10.5 (usually 275cm) in Asia because they call that a 272.5CM. If I go by my usual size 275cm, then it's too long.
@@bbnd5476 no idea. My Asics superblast is 27.5cm and US9.5; just ordered a Sky+ with the same specs. Model for women? Then US/cm is messed up.
What is the best super Show for runners who need support is it Brooks GTS or Nike or any other ones thank you
For me that’s the Saucony Tempus
I would like to try the Boston, but the heel of the Prime X ripped me to shreds. Never had such bad heel blisters in my life. Wont touch Adidas again until they change heel set up
Omg same here, only after getting boston 12 and ~86km i realized that "brake-in period" like people said wont make them better at all, they are "dull" and not even near to Deviate Nitro 2 in comfort, my heels are crying in boston 12, even with thicker socks, but since I bought them, still trying to run in them cause I don't want waste money but I think those are overrated, their upper sucks
FWIW each of the uppers on these (Sen, Boston, Pro, PrimeX, SL) are different depths and shapes. The Pro3 was bad for me (heel blisters) but the Sen 8, Strung, Boston 11 are all great fits. You should try on the B12, it may surprise you.
I prefer the Deviate 2. The Boston is to firm for me.
Same, I wasn't prepared for how firm/rigid the Boston feels. Trying to soften it up by walking around in it, because running is a no go.
@@theghostofpcs2391some people said they will break in after 50km, but for me, even after 66km they are still firm, heels blisters are unreal if you're running in thinner socks
wondering if I can use the takumi sen 8 or 9 as daily trainers
More for speed sessions than daily training. Boston does both but Takumi is a bit lighter with less under foot.
I'm torn between what to get in these two. I have 50km race in april. And I'm leaning on the puma to get. Is it good for ultras?
What did u get?
@@kagefisk puma dn 2
Hi everyone. I'm in search of super soft running shoes. I've had Puma Softride until now and I'm looking into these deviate nitro 2. Are those comfy and bouncy? I'm speaking in regards of the knees... Thank you!
Muy cómodos,yo los tengo y cero molestias.
Really wish adidas would sort out their uppers to make them more comfy and mould the foot better
yeah I don't get it. They are like the MAIN brand that gets complaints about uppers on all their shoes.
The upper and lacing system of Boston 12 drive me crazy...... Too uncomfortable.
Is PUMA DN2 fit for wide feet ?
They sell wide versions
@@JoseJose-dm1iw oh really ? Nice 😊👍
Would you buy both of them for your rotation, knowing what you know now?
Depends on your mileage or rotation size. I have both and use DN2 as my wet weather shoe for daily miles or sessions. B12 for long runs or dry sessions. Dry daily/easy runs I use the Triumph.
Deviate nitro is a great shoe but you just can’t find them in the USA….so bought the Boston 12 as an alternative since they are much more available .
For me the boston 12 is way better at the long run than the deviate nitro 2.
Yo tengo el Deviate nitro 2,pero también voy a comprar el Boston 12 !!
@@joandomar1 compraste? como te fue¡?
Deviate Nitro 2 is not good for longruns for me. Too soft. Noosa Tri 14 and Takumi Sen 8 is way better. I need a firmer midsole. But I got my 1 mile PB in Deviate Nitro 2. Suprisingly fast.
Boston all day long
