John Barr's patterns are AWESOME!!! I wish John Barr included this fly in his book. Thanks for sharing Charlie!

This is one of the best Stonefly pattern I’ve seen. Going to get some tied up for my box. Thank you Charlie for keeping me excited and motivated.

That is a great pattern, Charlie. Never was a fan of the 200R, but have had much better tyers tell me they loved them.

Question, would it make sense to paint the underside of the plastic? just to keep me from painting my feathers? lol

If you can't find the tmc 200r hook, a daiichi 1270 is a perfect match. This fly is killer on the water.

I been trying 20 incher and Pat's Rubber legs while I am laid up. I got surgery scheduled for next week. I am going to add this one to my box. I really like simple and quick-to-tie flies. My local Stop and Rob ( shop) has an ample supply of zip lock bags. With luck, I will be able to go wade fishing in a couple more weeks. The 20 incher has become a favorite fly, I managed to catch a few Rainbows from the banks of the Salmon here in Westchester, CT, it's a rocky and splipery bugger, Also it's where Gary Lafontaine did a lot of his research for the book Caddisflies. I fish it a lot this time of year because it's about a 15-minute drive to get to. Once again Charlie a very good instructional video.

I have been playing around with many different materials to make the perfect isonychia stone fly.
Although very time consuming, many stonefly’s that take time to tie and then gt lost on the bottom is disappointing. I have tied simple look alike rubber legs and plastic legs. This Barr design looks interesting as I may be able to get a nice stone fly.

I still have the original article in Fly fisherman magazine I believe they called it the succulent series of John Barr flies before the copper John made him really famous. Used a strip of plastic bag tied in with mono and colored with a permanent magic marker

There ya go again. Never watch a vid and not learn. Good thing for junior seniors. I like everything about this bug. Never seen the pattern. Wish I invented it. Might have needed herbal assistance.

Does paracord core work well as a gut eye substitution?

I feel you had a tough time saying "200R". Meant as humor.😇 I am going to try this pattern
