Amazing! The songs progression is in D major right? The melody seems to be taking advantage of either D or A major pentatonic? It's such a simple yet beautiful sound and shows how a well put composition can make anything sound simply gorgeous.
exactly buddy, how did you learn? I am self-taught and I am learning music theory, although it is always difficult for me to apply it or realize how they used it😅
@@una_volita I've actually been practicing accordion for about 7 to 8 years now and the instrument forced me to learn how harmony works in a very basic but useful way, there's still much i don't know and to be honest it wasn't until recently for me that i got to think about how theory and practice mix together It's very rewarding the deeper you dive into it i find. Just make sure you pick what you want to learn and fall in love with the process. I can't say how many times I've thought that it was "too hard" or "there's no way i can play that" but then again you only get as good as you allow yourself to be and there's nothing wrong with that
One last thing get used to training your ear to identify the different types of chords Major Minor Dominant Diminished The spicy chords are all related in some way to these 4 basic chords
@@wrrmjf9809thanks a lot! I had never heard of guide tones so I started looking for information immediately hehe I have just been going through those moments of demotivation due to the high difficulty I have left my daily practices a bit to concentrate on the theory and it has really opened my mind
@@una_volita well... Not exactly The way i was taught was more focused on getting me to play the songs they needed or wanted me to play and my curiousity made me fall deep into the rabbit hole of theory But i Will say thay having someone who is willing to guide you into playing what you want will likely get you to go down the same curious path of combining the theory and practicing it In fact, some of the best practice excercises are based off harmony concepts or rhythm concepts at the end of the day music is really about how you can play whatever tune you like. Mentor or not who really puts in the work is yourself at the end of the day. And if you ever get the chance play music with other people too!!! It's an experience you won't regret. Don't be afraid or insecure when playing since you will ALWAYS make mistakes and just having the courage to do what you're already doing is wonderful for forming the best version of your musician self.
