With all the craft beers available, their hype and push the limit recipes...this is such a classic and such a great beer.. Probably my personal favorite.
HAH this beer pisses and shits all over any of these "ten minutes ago i began a brewing course" IPA breweries full of hipsters selling their beer for £7.00 a can. People have been fooled by this nonsense for a longtime and age old breweries like Wehenstephaner, Franziskaner, Paulaner etc CLEARLY would have far greater knowledge of brewing than any skinny jeans wearing moustachio 24 year old "bi-gender" middle class mummies boy.
@@derrickdomino8210 I love your reply! All the guys at our office keep bringing in new and different beers to try...they rarely have the same one twice...lol...I tell them no thanks...I'll just stick to the several I've been drinking for a long time...Cheers...
This is my favorite beer. After being in Germany for a while I seeked out Hefes here in the U.S. and found this one at a store near me. Ever since I tried it, it was hooked.
It was always my go to German Wheat beer!!! They have it on tap at the German Restaurant Plattdeutch Park in Franklin Square Long Island New York!! Gonna get a stein of it this weekend at the Bavarian Festival!!!
Recently went on a trip to Munich/Bavaria. Visited the famous Hofbrauhaus, personally felt it was overrated - rushed atmosphere rather than relaxed, and the HB beer was average. Went to a local pub/beer garden for dinner. Ordered a pint of Franziskaner. Instantly hooked - best thing I’ve ever drank
My housemate asked to try one of my Franziskaner’s whilst I was out. I said sure. I came back to find out two were missing at it’s the best beer she’s had in her life. I said welcome to Deutsche Weissbier gnädige frau 😂😎
Great review Paul this has become my favorite beer of all time I have only tried it after seeing your review since I am from Portugal I always just drank Sagres & Super bock but this one surpassed these two times one thousand Keep up with the reviews Paul Subscribed
This is my favorite beer in the entire world man! First time I ever had it was when I went on a German exchange trip to Heidelberg, with my fellow exchange students, for two weeks. We had this everywhere and even got a keg of it. Ever since it’s been the best beer I’ve ever had, bar none. Love your channel! 🍻 Cheers.
I liked the enthusiasm of your first taste. "Drink deep or taste not." One of my favorites - it's a bit between the light and dunkel weizens in color, with both fruit and spice.
I had this tonight Paul. Got it from the Co-op on the way home from work. Yeah, tidy job, as you said it was a bit gassy, maybe just a bit too gassy for me pal! Nice Christmas taste to it.
Looks like a thing of beauty that Paul old lad ….just waiting for vicki to get in from the supermarket….she says she’s got me a couple of these ….looking forward to it ….over the last couple of months ,got into Weiss beers….I like the sniederweisse tap 1 and tap 7 ….take care ginge ,😊all the best mate….
I prefer the Franziskaner as well, though if I can get Erdinger from the tap I go for that. Though I haven't had the other two from the tap, I can't find them.
This is the ultimate yummy wheat beer. I also love the wheat bits in my beer. After my first time trying this I wasn't to sure about it. After the second one l was in love. Its like kissing the most beautiful blonde woman that came down from heaven. You don't want it to ever end. I'm totally enjoying my 54th birthday after working second shift. Drinking a full litre of this wonderful beer. I'll be finishing a second litre before turning in. This is a real special treat
This is my favourite weissbier so far, flavours so pronounced and layered, but I have heard the Paulaner one could be even better, still have to try it, but it would have to be VERY good.
No doubting its a fantastic beer. The first 1 2 3 for sure even 4 or 5 definitely. For me the Weihenstephaner weisse holds longer. Every single pour holds that 1st beer flavour 10 deep, while the Franziskaner slowly drops off. I always rate my beers that way whatever the style. Just my 10 cents. The first 2 or 3 though are just superb.
Just had my first one and thought it was decent. Not sure I could drink too many in one session but nice to have 2 or 3. I'd say that one of the flavours you missed was cloves. Agree about banana but cloves is quite prominent in my opinion. Thanks for review.
@@chrisstucker1813 to be fair, since I have wrote my original comment I have built up more love for Frankie. I think it is OK to have as session beer and buy it all the time for my PD now. The Royal version is outstanding. Not as impressed with Erdinger although its still nice. Paulaner is very good too.
With a lager that can really benefit the drinkability, definitely. If you try and pour a wheat beer like that you just end up with foam all over the place usually 😆
If you get a good weizen it's a style that's hard to beat. I would say I prefer the weihenstephaner myself. I've got this and the franziskaner Royal on pd to review. I recommend if you can get the frankie royal, get it. Good review Paul 👍
Never had Franziskaner. My local craft beer store has Weihenstephaner, Tucher, Erdinger and Benediktiner hefeweizens. Erdinger was actually my least favorite of all those and to me tasted the blandest and lacked flavor compared to the other 3. Would love to get my hands on Franziskaner.
@@paulsbeerreviews I must do a side by side with them and see. I do enjoy it I have to say. There’s actually a cheaper perlenbacher weis too, it’s decent for .99p but obviously nowhere near as good as the main ones
Lowe’s foods in America Southeast stocks Franziskaner, one of the five that I keep stock myself along with HB original recipe, Innis & Gunn (when I can get some) Guinness Blonde and Ayinger. There was a Appalachian Craft beer called French Toast Blonde that was awesome but it was discontinued; the local beer guy said they received to many complaints over the sexist connotation, bunch of moronic complainers.
Unfortunately I was quite disappointed with this one. I love Erdinger so thought I would give it a try knowing it was a similar type of beer but I found the taste of clove a bit overpowering for my liking. I don't detect any clove taste when drinking Erdinger which allows me to fully enjoy the beer.
This will sound silly but i tried that Weissbier today and it was terrible it tasted like candle wax in a bottle , I will stick to IPA beers as this stuff is not for me lol
Does anybody feel paulaner and hofbrau are water down compared to these! Ayinger taste bland! Schneider has a al component but good! Hacker pschor definitely has a hop characteristic and good! weistephaner and franziskaner per bliss! Ranking weistephaner, franziskaner hacker pschor paulaner schinder ayinger hafbrau! Your welcome I’m drunk 🥴
Gorgeous weissbier it is German liquid gold 10/ 10 rating . People who drink macro lagers are missing out.
Of all the reviewers of weissbiers I've seen, you're the first one who has shown the bottle prominently. Excellent presentation!

Sounds awesome that! I’d be all over this on the PD if I had one.

I've often found it in Lidl here in Ireland for €1.96 per bottle. Very nice enjoyable beer.
Franziskaner and Maisel's Weissbier are my 2 favorite wheat beers :) and I prefer weizens compared to barley lagers...

When pouring beer, you pour it fast to release the gases. That’s the way I was taught

Staple beer , reliable as can be..
Drinking weihenstephaner and franz right now. Both are good but weihenstephaner is smoother IMO.
This has become my regular weiss! Erdinger is good - patronus frm aldi is decent - but this is king!👍🍻🍺
Owned by Budweiser now or In Bev so to speak. This one is my favorite.
Doesn't matter once its brewed in Germany they have to stick to the purity law so it wont effect the beer👍🏻
I’m wondering if the bottle of patronus you got was off or something cus I find it to be almost as good as this and erdinger.
Maybe? Just really didn’t enjoy the Patronus.
