I disagree that this is an issue with black women. I see many college educated black women dating/marrying black men who are not college educated. Black women are known to marry on their level or marry down.
Meanwhile, many white women are married to men who earn much more than they do. That's why a white woman is more likely to be a stay at home mom than a black woman. White men generally don't have a big issue with marrying women who earn substantially less than they do.
Conversely, successful black men rarely marry down. A black male doctor will seldom marry a black nurse. A male black executive will rarely marry a black teacher.
So I have to disagree with Kevin. Black women have largely accepted the idea that they seldom get to marry up. If he was only talking about looks then he may have a point.

We shouldn’t want what we cannot have. We should want what is within our realistic reach. That doesn’t mean having no standards. It simply means having realistic standards. As your circumstances change, you are free to adjust your standards, but they should be realistic.

When I lived in Atlanta I often experienced this myself. Black women that I wouldn't have dated, or even have sex with in my prime. Were constantly chasing after me. i am an average man who has lived an average life. never made more than 70k, but i got a house raised my three kids, wife left but i didn't allow my kids to be without me. she listened to her sister and friend that kept telling her can do better but she never did and died alone looking for what she was never able to replace. when she left i grew better than what i was when i was with her but her ego wouldn't allow her to come back home.
