So how, exactly, did Joseph lose the cup game when learning to control liquid was one of the first things he ever did with hamon? He could hold a glass of water upside down and not spill a drop, and could turn coke bottle caps into projectiles. That was even before he had any training at all. Yet, he suddenly forgets he can do that during this and loses. Makes no sense.
Well, the liquid trick only worked with sustained contact. Plus, Joseph didn't spot D'Arby's trick and couldn't fathom how there would be more room in the glass.

承太郎のブラフがダニエルの仕込みを信用できなくさせることで、イカサマという絶対的な支えを失って博打打ちの自尊心だけ残った一般人にまで落としたのがすごく良い。
承太郎を絶望させようとスケベ心出したのが運のツキ。
過激な暴力の描写がふんだんにあるアニメでタバコだけ許さないのは草。

There's no way he'd be able to use Hamon without D'Arby noticing it, so D'Arby would accuse him of cheating right away.
