Tbh I get the meme but I don't know how anyone that's not blindly following melon could stomach this album. There's maybe a song or two that are tolerable, but good lord does it just sound like the same generic pop you'd hear from anyone else, minus a neat beat or two

This was my first time EVER listening to Charli XCX, prior to this album all I ever heard of her was from the Iggy song!
However after seeing a few positive comments about this album I decided to give it a shot & WOW!
I’m not a huge pop fan & im blown away by how good this album is. Absolutely at the top for album of the year!
If you have times, You should listen to her 2 mixtapes Number angel 1 and Pop2 and her perfect ep VROOM VROOM. They have the same energy
She also drops incredible singles randomly

He placed "Charli" above "Kids See Ghosts" and just under "This Is Happening" in his "best albums of the decade" list, which is an album that he picked over "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" in one of his TikTok bracket video, which that is an album that he already submitted to his "Classic Reviews" list, and also mentioned in his 10/10 albums list from the past decades (1990s specifically).
So with "BRAT" just getting a 10 while this album ("Charli") theoretically is a 10; Charli XCX has now probably became the first artist known to get a multiple 10s from Fantano.
Therefore she's the greatest artist of all time. (that includes the future)

to me she's been cutting edge since day one. you might not enjoy True Romance but that album is filled with great ideas and pop anthems, and for a debut album she did so well. at the time she was one of the most interesting pop artists and i guess she never stopped being

MannOfOrigin I see quite a few corollaries between the two; both are really innate curators of sounds and sonic aesthetics; both are highly collaborative and have an expansive Rolodex of artists with which they often work with; both explore themes of depersonalization in their lyrics - whether due to fame and paranoia or due to romantic entanglements; both have a long history of utilizing AutoTune an actual instrument in their repertoire to create specific moods and not simply to cover bad singing; in fact, both artists are more interested in delivering interestingly textured sounds in their music rather than diva-esq vocals (Caroline Polachek is another artist that uses her voice like an instrument in this way, check her out as well!); both have favorite songwriting tropes that they return to such as Kanye with his flashing lights and Charli with her imagery of driving fast vehicles; both also are keen to write songs that revel in the parties and glitzy lifestyle of being a major artist while also describing how lonely such a lifestyle can seem; both have consistent visual aesthetics that often have to do with futurism, futuristic technology and even apocalyptic/dystopian ideas.
Personality-wise, Charli and Kanye couldn’t be any more different, but in terms of creative approach and outlook they do share some similarities.
MannOfOrigin As to the question of whether her pre-”Charli” album output matches the quality of Kanye’s early work, I would say that it definitely does. Granted, it’s difficult to compare their music as they are both making very different kinds of music in highly different contexts and for very different audiences. But if you like music that’s emotionally raw both in the ballads and in the party jams, pop music that is so much more intelligently-crafted, experimental, textured and interesting than your average Top-40 pop station playlist, then Charli’s earlier work is for you.
She is more like the Tyler version of Pop.
First albums are good but nothing special (GOBLIN & WOLF) (True Romance & Sucker) then release a experimental album (Cherry Bomb) (Vroom Vroom) and then release his 2 best albums (Flower Boy & IGOR) (Pop 2 and Charli)

Track 10 is superior in my opinion. The melody of the last chorus (the one that goes: sorry I b-laaaame it on your love yeah) was sublime. But I love Blame It On Your Love the same
i'm slowly working my way through the album, but right off the bat the intro track had me floored. definitely one of the best intros to a project I have heard in a while

If you guys like this album, you should listen to other charli projects like how I’m feeling now, the vroom vroom ep, number 1 angel and pop2. Charli has been doing this sound for years and has a damn amazing discography to show for it that you should explore if you enjoyed self titled

I really saw this album as an exploration of the past, present, and future of pop, all with Charli's flair on top of it, in this case Warm really fits well on this album by having it be a bit of a dancehall type cut which was huge at the time of the album but still with a Charli twist on it.
Really think this is the best pop album of the 2010s, 10/10 for me
