Nice video Mike. The body looked pretty good, considering. The engine turned, sounded ok. If it were me, and I had somewhere to keep it and wasn’t in a hurry to get it on the road, I’d go for it! 👍🏻
It could be quite valuable restored. I had a VW Sundial when I was 16 or so. I loved it. My dad had a 59 that we drove from California to Denver in the late 60’s. I still camp today. I wish I had purchased a VW camper instead of my 560SL. You should buy it if the price is right.
Thanks for your comment. I used to have a VW out in Australia....very cool but super unreliable - I went through 2 engine rebuilds. We have had a Toyota Hiace out there for the last 16 years which has been amazing...if not a little rusty. They made those Fiat 238's up to 1983. Amazing to think that is almost the same age as the red project car I'm doing! Mike
I would say if you think the price is right. It looks like good start to fix up or a camper style. The crank over sounded fine, might get up and running for not much besides some maintenance .
Thanks for your comment. Well, I have put in a low bid so we'll what happens. They are such sweet little vans...wholly impractical..but what is life without a bit of adventure? Mike
@@MikesMercsandothercars Well, good luck. For sure, that's why I got my r107 was kinda on a whim. Though this car is slowly driving me insane with all the little bits.
Guten Tag and thank you for your comment. The pop top on our Fiat 238 works great and was already on the van when we bought it. I believe the company which originally converted this van is called "Cateringvanconversions" based up in Peterborough UK. You can see a picture of the van pre conversion on their website: www.cateringvanconversions.com/before-after/ I have emailed them today and asked if they can give me the information your require. Mike
@@julienhengl7230 Je vous en prie. I have heard back from the company which fitted out my Fiat 238. They were a bit vague saying that the pop top came from "somewhere in Cornwall" but they also said they could install a pop top for you. I do recall the seller telling me that he had paid £2500 to have the pop top installed. Sorry I cant be more helpful. I am going to France next week (Beziers). Are you based in France? If so what part? Mike
Ha ha....Something strange happened today. The CD changer miraculously started working...that was coupled with the drivers wing mirror no longer folding in and a completely flat battery. Who would have thought that old Sparky would yield such content!. Mike
