@@dsheppard8492 in 2 timothy 4:18 Paul writes “the Lord will deliver me from every evil deed and will bring me to safety to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever, Amen” if Paul saw himself as one who does not sin, from what would the Lord deliver him from? If we also read Romans 7:25-8:2 “ thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Pastor Mike, that loaf miracle story I've heard in my own Bible study as a child. We had an associate pastor's wife lead the Bible story me, age 10, and my 2 younger cousins. She reassured us that it was still a miracle because there was abundant human compassion. I just grabbed both my cousins and took them downstairs to do something else. I was so shocked and thank God for giving me the spirit of discernment and courage to get out of that.
Mike thank you for all the time you spend in studying God's Word in order to try to accurately understand and correctly interpret Scripture. I have been so blessed by so many your video's and I know others have to. God bless you , your family and this ministry!🙏🕊️❤️
My daughter went to a "Christian" university in CA. She had a professor that was a Hebrew/biblical scholar, and unfortunately he planted doubts in his students indoctrinating them to think that God's Word was replete with errors. This "biblical" scholar did it in such a way, that even my daughter tried to justify it. While justifying it, she still acknowledged that the Scriptures were inspired of God, but there were some discrepancies as her teacher put it. This is not the case today with her today (I pray) because I shared some apologetic books with her...but this is what's going on in "Christian" schools...Sadducees or progressives are everywhere. Must be versed with the Bible or you might be deceived yourself.
I see this happening a lot, “progressive Christians” agreeing that the word is inspired by God, but not all His true spoken word. The definition of inspired in the Greek is “God breathed”....it’s His breath speaking through His prophets, not just simply inspired how humans gain inspiration. 2 Tim 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:“
Jey, I am a student at a private “Christian” school and have noticed the same about the Bible professors. Some even deny hell and assign books that question the divinity of Jesus. The Lord has guarded my mind and has kept me from going down that hole. I am curious as to what books you shared with your daughter. Would you share those with me? It would be helpful to be more equipped to help my peers stay on track.

@@MW66VB Not really; the Pharisees and Zealots were far more conservative (especially behaviorally) than the Sadducees. Not accepting non-Torah books is sort of like progressive Christianity not accepting the whole Bible because it doesn't all agree with their predefined worldview. This is what Jesus warns us regarding adultery in Mark 10:10-12: 10When they were back inside the house, the disciples asked Jesus about this matter. 11So He told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
The Sadducees didn’t believe in stuff like angels or the resurrection of the dead due to it being miraculous but because, from their point-of-view, it was wildly innovative.
there are progressive "Christians" who usually doubt miracles and then there are charismatics who believe almost every claim of miracle. It would be great to have a video with a good explanation on how to avoid being in both extremes. 🤔
Mike, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago - and was blown away by the serious, but also humorous and deeply pastoral approach you use. You really take the Bible seriously and try to think biblically - which has become so rare among Christians of all denomination these days. I've learned so much from watching your videos and am deeply grateful to you for your effort! Greetings from a Bavarian Catholic !
I'm a former progressive Christian and therefore still have a good number of those people in my life and specially in my social media. I'm so grateful to God for his patience and love for me to lead me on a right path, but sad for those still in the dark. In Finland most of our state Lutheran church members (I'm now in another church) are thinking as the progressives you described here. Even the pastors and bishops. That is the most terrible thing. Thanks for all the great videos and your awesome work! I'm anxiously waiting for the next episode of the women in church-series! 😄❤️
Alisa Childers really opened my eyes to understand the Progressive movement. One of my friends from Bible College sent me Rachel Held Evans' book Searching for Sunday, and the ideas that I have been seeing around the Christian community online was reflected so well in it. I also read Love Wins back when it first came out. I had previously known Rob Bell's stuff to be well written and it all seemed good. The whole time I was reading that book though I was appalled that he was calling it Christianity. Sure it was a beautiful picture. But it wasn't reality or more importantly, Biblical. Thank you for your gentle spirit and attacking the lies of the devil that are such a part of our current culture. I am praying for my friends and hoping that God will soften hearts to bring a return to the things of the truth.

"Progressive" is "Redefinition" by another name. They want to redefine the Christian teachings to suit their means or lifestyle choices, and most often than not, by selective acceptance of scriptures so they appear Christian, but in fact they have in the process already abandoned some fundamental and critical truths.
Another very good video, Mike.I wish progressive "Christians" would find themselves their own name for their theology because when you take the supernatural out of Christianity it no longer is Christianity.I think you are spot on in your comparison of liberal "Christianity" to the Sadducees (and Roman Catholicism to the Pharisees).
Although true christians are a mixture of progressive and conservative.... Christianity is utterly supernatural agreed, if Christ is not risen our faith is futile. On the other hand conservative christians have defended slavery and then racial segregation and opposed equal rights for women in the name of conservatism. despite the great declaration from Paul that in Christ there is neither male nor female, jew or gentile, slave or free but we are all sons of God in Christ Jesus. Somethings should stay the same some things should change....the bible isn't a call to arms for preserving the status quo at all costs neither is it about changing everything, although at it's core the message of the new testament seems to me far more radical than it is conservative (just read Mary's song at the start of Luke's gospel if you don't believe me!) ....although it did have continuity with all that God had spoken through the prophets beforehand.
@@gareth2736 don’t let your political party become interchangeable with your christian label. you are a christian, or you’re not. although you may be a christian who agrees with conservative/progressive ideas, you are not a conservation/progressive christian. your relationship with Jesus and the way you obey His Word is high above man made political ideas.

On the other hand I think if people claim to be christians but deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus, well they are not. Lots of other beliefs though are on a spectrum...Mike Winger is relatively conservative but the most conservative christians would view him as progressive. I might look progressive compared with folk commenting on here but in many environments I would be the conservative. You are quite right though about being politically conservative vs conservative on theology and they are very different things especially outside of the US. In the UK it's quite common for folk to have conservative christian theology but vote for the labour party while liberal christians (progressive theology) might very well have very conservative political beliefs (in fact very liberal church's are probably more likely to survive in the sort of affluent areas where people are more likely to vote conservative..)
@@gareth2736 I consider myself aligned with conservative views, and am mostly surrounded by people with similar beliefs and I've never heard anyone tell me I'm not fit to teach or talk about theology because I'm a woman. I had a long discussion with a progressive Christian today and your analysis in this video was spot on. The splitting of the red sea being just naturalistic is a little deceiving, if I'm honest :) Why do I think so? Well the question is: What did the author (Moses) wanted us to know? He refers to waters that fade to make sight and a way on the dry land. Did you ever heard that? Yes the spirit of the Lord hovered upon the waters and he made way for the dry land to appear. In short: Moses claims that the Exodus experience is an act of (re-)creation just like with Noah in Gen 6-9. So it is exactly about Gods power being directly used to fullfill his plans. That why I think it missleads to try to explain it naturally for it is meant to be more (even if it were only naturally). For it gets depicted as an intervention of God and it is the one of the greatest interventions for it is the identity of Israel to be saved out of Egypt. That wasn't meant as an offense - just something to think about and to get deeper into the scripture. Be blessed 🙏
Very thankful for this and what you shared.. so few people are willing to refute the lies out there in the culture and few willing enough to apply themselves to be equipped properly to do so.. "The Pharisees were the most respected religious people of the day, and the scribes the supreme experts in the law (especially, no doubt, the Pharisaic scribes). Verses 21-48 show what Jesus’ demand for a “higher” righteousness involves. The Pharisees also stressed the right intention of the heart (kavanah); Jesus’ criticizes not their doctrine but their hearts as religious people. Religious communities led by Pharisaic teachers may have also been opponents of Jewish Christians in Syria-Palestine in Matthew’s day, giving Matthew additional incentive to record these words." Craig S. Keener, The IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament (Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 1993), Mt 5:20.
Lol. Stop reading this silliness and try Matthew 15. Jesus EXPLICITLY blasts their doctrines, using that very word!!!! 3Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? ...7You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: 8“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Sounds like they just want to downplay the miracles of the Lord and explain them away. Why would you want to do that anyway? Jesus is Lord and one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess He is Lord to the Glory of the Father. Praise His Holy Name.

2 Tim 3:16
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:“

This is what Jesus warns us regarding adultery in Mark 10:10-12:
10When they were back inside the house, the disciples asked Jesus about this matter. 11So He told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
Balaam: That donkey spoke to me!!!
Sadducee: Nahh bro that´s silly, it was just a ventriloquist standing beside the donkey...
57:47 Pope Francis turned the question "Is the Pope Catholic?" from the punchline of a joke into a serious question!

As a devout Catholic, I fear that too many Bishops nowadays take Matthew 16:20 and run with it.
Lol the progressive explanation of Jesus on water had me rolling!! I'm getting hooked on your videos, Mike!! Excellent work!
A friend posted this video. I am a first-time watcher. Thank you for being a solid Bible teacher. I will hope to watch more of your videos.
The first lie of Satan is that you won't die. The second is that you're God. Virtually all heresies continue to repeat one lie or the other.
@@toomanymarys7355 No, it is the bible that tells you that you wont die. It promises that you will live forever. All you have to do is die. And of course you are not just some creature on earth, you are a god that will live forever. So you are saying that God is Satan? I don buy it, but it would make some of the insanity of the bible make sense.
You were appalled by people being good to each other, and treating each other as human beings... Ya, good to know...

@@sarahthompson1407 it's a continum though isn't it. The most conservative christians would say you shouldn't even be trying to teach me on a theological matter because you are a woman....personally I think that is nutty and you have just as much right to correct me as a man does if you think I am in the wrong.
My christian beliefs do direct my conservative beliefs, but not the other way around, and so I believe it's important to keep the two seperate. I'm not at all arguing with you (and I apologize if it has seemed as so) I'm just simply stating my ideas on labelling ourselves as conservative/progressive christians and not just simply "christian."

Over and above, the miracle that Jesus performed with the loves & fish happened not once, but 3 times. Furthermore, when Jesus and His disciples were in the boat and one complained about not having enough food onboard, Jesus said unto them "Were you not there when we filled the baskets from so little?" (I've severely reworded & butchered the actual text, but I hope the same point is made) - in addition, it shows that even those that were closest to Him, and we're witnesses, didn't always fully understand Who He Is

Mike you need to check out God is Grey youtube channel. I'm so shocked by the things that come out of her mouth in the name of "Christianity" and the whole world loves her..
I agree. I really dislike her. I especially dislike her beef with girl defined.
The splitting of the red sea being just naturalistic is a little deceiving, if I'm honest :)
Why do I think so?
Thank you brother just wanted to encourage you in this very helpful ministry

"The Pharisees were the most respected religious people of the day, and the scribes the supreme experts in the law (especially, no doubt, the Pharisaic scribes). Verses 21-48 show what Jesus’ demand for a “higher” righteousness involves. The Pharisees also stressed the right intention of the heart (kavanah); Jesus’ criticizes not their doctrine but their hearts as religious people. Religious communities led by Pharisaic teachers may have also been opponents of Jewish Christians in Syria-Palestine in Matthew’s day, giving Matthew additional incentive to record these words."
