Hi Terry,Fixed some greenhouse glass that was broken in the storms, tomorrow repairing a compost bin & unloading 80 bags of compost with a plot neighbour should warn up doing that, still plenty to do,a bit behind this year, happy gardening to all.
Hi Terry, I hope Mrs K is keeping well ❤ you have got some good jobs done today. Other has been very cold 🥶 it's warming up today here in the North West, 7C today, and it feels like spring compared to -4. Great plot update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Admiring your stamina, Terry and I'd love to borrow that for a season, I have to say! 😉 We are in our deep freeze... My only gardening activity right now is watching you!!💖✨
@terrykingsallotmentgardening Well it's going to have to be your stamina, Terry... You appear to be otherwise occupied!! 😉 I'm glad to hear things are warming up there!!🥰🙏
@ Appreciated, Terry!! 🙏 I know that kind of wind ... it goes right through you! I'm glad to hear that's over for you now!! Nice weather can be a great motivator, I find!!💖✨
Hi Terry, boring? Not you!!!😊. I was out this morning for about an hour, spread some wood chips on my path, raked over the old parsnip bed and carrot bed and my friend’s potato bed, pottered about a bit enjoying the sunshine and the fact that it wasn’t bitterly cold outside, and picked my last swede to make carrot and swede mash with. I felt invigorated afterwards 😊❤
Our plot is still flooded and now frozen , looked nice covered in snow but it was a no go area, very slippery , Like you said it will recede and we will have to play catch up
Thanks Terry you’ve certainly inspired me to go to the allotment, unfortunately I hadn’t been able to get there until yesterday as I’ve had flu/whooping cough since before Christmas. I called in for 10 minutes yesterday and everything was under inches of snow and ice! I couldn’t even see my onions and garlic and they were doing so well. Hopefully it’s going thaw this week so I’ll be down then to check on things. Deb
@Tea_and_thyme_2012 Mrs K has been under the weather today, but feeling better now. The weather doesn't help and bugs are easy to catch. Very wet under foot as the ground thaws.
Good morning Terry, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA Geez, you look cold❄️ 🥶 ❄️ I hope Mrs.K is staying safe and warm. Watched completely with ads while I'm making breakfast for the King of the House 🏠 😅 ❤Peggy❤
I could tell from the thumbnail that it must have been a chilly day, Terry. We keep waiting for winter to hit us here on Southern Vancouver Island. Great idea to cover the green manure with compost to speed it along. I spent a few hours pruning geraniums and fuchsia in the garden today. Felt wonderful to have the warm glow of the sun on my face! ~ Sandra
@NanasWorms we really haven't had any warm sunshine for a long time, but I try not to complain about the weather as many have it a lot worse around the world.
Hi Terry,my 6 bin bags of leaves pale to insignificance when i see your huge stack! Still, I guess 6 bags are better than nona! I really don't have enough space to stash any more! I am lucky to be able to get free stable manure so I have 2 whole bays of well rotted manure. I am now top dressing my beds that are empty. There are some free woodchips at my site so I am filling the bottom half of my raised beds with manure and woodchips. Most of this week I have been gardening indoors, sowing seeds. Today I have started to see a thaw so I have been tidying my strawberries, attaching hangers to the baskets and putting them in my greenhouse in hope of a slightly earlier harvest. happy Growing. Love and warm wishes to Mrs K. 🙂
@bewoodford2807 yes some are better than none, but the manure and woodchips are a good asset. Mrs K hasn't had a good day today, but doing well considering.
Hi Terry. For one moment, I thought you needed a heated gillet lol. Top marks for getting out there and gritting 👍 I need to get more of everything done lol. Elaine 😁👍
@allotmentjoy we have plenty of time, but as we have found out we don't know what the weather is going to throw at us. Nice not to have to go out gritting last night, completely worn out.
Great tip and wise words about the manure run off Terry, must eventually try and get a similer installed for myself. Great work with the green manure and superb idea to cover with the Coir. The woodchip King is making his paths look good again
@sowgroweat6987 thank you Mike, in a good position for this time of the season, but will be stepping back from regular updates to once a month, lots going on.
The woodchips look great 👍🏾,, I haven’t done any gardening or plotting for about a week, my feet get really freezing cold, I do need to harvest some parsnips and sprouts so need to get my big fat bum off the settee, lol, Best wishes, Lisa
@lisag9493 the weather is better now to do a little bit, last night was hopefully my last night gritting for a while, been on call since the middle of December.
I bought some of those Cooljob gloves you recommend and they are the warmest gardening gloves I've tried. Very pleased with them. I was able to do a few small jobs outside. 😊
We have now hit the minus temps but still no rain or snow ❄️. Now go home and finish that bathroom 😂😂. Happy gardening hope Sandra is doing well ❤, Ali 🌞🥶🇨🇦
Never boring. I like to see it all looking nice when you've done. So far been pottering a little in the greenhouse, but pacing myself after the lurgy. Always the birds first, then other things. I've potted on strawberries, cleared out the snail eggs and woodlice from the old roots. One more tray to do. One had a broad bean growing - it has been repotted too - blooming mouse thief. Very cold here, but no wind today.
Wow, Terry amazing how you continue to work on gardening chores even in the cold frigid cold!🥶 I try to do a few things, but I can only 30 minutes tops! 😂Hubby on the other hands will be outside for hours chopping away his firewood collection. Stay warm my friend! Peaches👩🏼🌾 .
Terry, I just realized that I spend anywhere from 2 to 6 hours every day in the garden. First thing gotta let the chickens out. Then it's fun after that. Turn. The compost pile. Do a little chop and drop. Then see what other kind of trouble I can get into.
@kathysumner1443 the weather all over the world is not pleasant, but we need to adapt our growing methods to suit our needs. Happy New year my friend's.
No matter the weather, always a job to do hey Terry. Funny when we have limited time but very specific jobs to do, it was like you were in fast forward mode. 😂 Keep up the great work. Warmer days are coming 😊

@michaellindsay1093 well done on the woodchips, they will be a great addition to your growing spaces in a few years. Once I retire I will be relying on my woodchip paths for organic materials.
Hi Terry the ibc tank you have is cased in with timbers? Were u put the compost etc to get the liquid out from the tap on the ibc. Did u cut off the top of the ibc to put manure etc in to the ibc and have a canopy over it which is a very good set up, wouldn't mind setting something up like that. Hope all good with family. Thanks Emmet.
@hightrees2592 both of these IBC's had gone brittle at the top from the sunshine, so wouldn't hold rain water, so this was ideal for this situation Emmet.

Everything was frozen here until this morning. It's a tiny bit warmer today and the frost has all gone.
