It’s hauntingly effective, the atmosphere it creates is unbeatable. The Fog is one of my favourite John Carpenter films, yet it’s often overlooked or just perceived as a decent film, nothing more. I think it’s a masterpiece!
@@horrorfanandy4647 You are so right, an absolute beatiful gem that is overlooked too often. Thinking about the final act with the fog rolling in, Reel 9 playing in the background... Its "only" Fog and no scary monster or killer, but it is haunting in a way that is not often recreated.
I think some horror movies now try too hard to capitalize on the haunting ambiance, thrilling shots, etc. Sometimes all you need is a minimalistic droning score like Carpenter shows here. Carpenter is one of my favorite directors both of all time and in the horror genre.
This film scared the absolute shit out of me ad a child. I thought Alien was scary. This movie dropped pure terror. Fuck your Xenomorphs. Vengeful spirits are what will keep you awake at night.
The hull broke apart. The mast snapped like a twig. And all aboard the Elizabeth Dane drowned in their icy death. Their eyes open and staring up in to the black waters. Seven must die.
I bought the 40th anniversary in vinyl. Its one of my fav so far. Its so awesome listening on a good audiophile set up. You can hear the piano echo from the speakers. Real spooky soundscape.
“There’s something in the fog!” 😱
- Adrienne Barbeau (Stevie Wayne)
John carpenter music never gets old
Old school horror the way it should be. Horror music needs to go back to this!

Damals im Alter von 7 oder 8 habe ich mir beinahe ich die Hose gemacht. Aber eigentlich nur wegen dem Soundtrack!@@horrorfanandy4647

Modern horror is gay
Masterpiece of a score!❤😂
Classic soundtrack!
Is All That We See or Seem,
But A Dream Within a Dream...
Quite an intriguing quote to open a horror film with. 👍🏻

Precisely we keeping it classy in the red room. ✅️
My favorite part is the 'Fog enters the town' at 38:07.

17:00 is so good...
collector's edition pressed on fog-colored vinyl
Huh huh!
Beautiful.... But I still think they should have pressed this in glow in the dark vinyl!
That might have compromised the sound quality.
@@thedarkdefender7780 agreed, but still very cool.
Two tracks on rpt?
Listened to it on Acid, was Wild!
How did you mic or record this?
I used a USB record player and a Mac.
