Speaking as a guitarist of 50 years, and a massive Shulman fan,I just don't get or overly rate buckethead. People keep saying "Oh Michael if only you could play alongside Buckethead" blah blah blah etc. You can make the most boring tunes come to life. You are truly gifted. I could only listen to buckethead done by Michael Shulman. Best wishes. Speak soon.
Thank you! I hear what you're saying. Personally - I really like Buckethead, but I don't listen to his music everyday. Actually, I don't listen to anybody's music everyday, if that tells you something. ))Variety is the best for keeping a healthy balance. ) With that said - do I believe that I am worthy of respect as a musician and uprising in my own career that would shine no less than other instrumentalists out there? You bet I do!
Is my goal in life to have a great career? Absolutely not. My aim was to master my instrument and be able to play the kind of music that made me dream of magic as a child. Did I accomplish that? I feel that I am. Would I want to play alongside Buckethead, Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde or any other great guitar player? Very much so! Why? Because they've been inspiring me to create my own music in the style that I love.
Have I succeeded in making my own spin on things while still being true to the traditional Hard Rock/Neo-Classical Shred/Heavy Metal music? I think so. Do I have a way of transforming someone's pieces of music into something that perhaps is more than they initially were? I think so. Why? Because I put my own soul into it. Regardless, my love of music itself and the institution and the musicians is immense. I wouldn't wanna be here all by myself, just being alone/the only one in the world.
There is no one way to do it. A matter of preference. You have to go with your ears. Turn on one by one effect and use your ears when you turn the knobs to reach a pleasant result for yourself.
you two should collaborate together, it would be music to the ears!
I do think so too. I guess what really matters is what he thinks. Thanks! :)
