    I don't tow anything remotely that heavy with my trailer and my SUV. However I do appreciate American made products. Great video.

    The pin is almost a foot further back that many other hitches. The further back the pin is fron the rear axle, the more it lifts the front axle. This defeats the purpose of the newer F250 attaching their hitches closer to the rear axle

    Mr. Truck I love my Gen-y 6" drop hitch (no torsion-not that heavy of trailer). I just wanted to let you know that the new 17 Super Duties have a taller or longer (in lowered position) tailgate than in previous years. If you want to drop the tailgate with the trailer attached you need more length in the shank or entire hitch setup. Gen-y gives you the extra length to be able to do this. If not you can drop the tailgate or camera on the jack for disconnecting the trailer. Just another selling point. Love the videos.

    Why the loud music in the beginning? Unnecessary and kinda alarming outta nowhere!
    DOPE HITCH THOUGH!
    I rock the 2” 16-K 9” drop with a hitch mounted full size spare tire rack slipped in the top notch then my 4x4 ARMY DYI CAMP/BUG OUT TRAILER mounted about halfway down the 9” drop...
    MY CAR TRAILER USES THE LOWEST NOTCH/HITCH SPOT ON THE 9” DROP...
    AND THIS TRUCK IS ONLY A 6” LIFT! 35x12.50R20
    SO THE DROP IS MANDATORY!
    NICE VIDEO THOUGH BUDDY!
    Thanks for always coming through!

    my only comment is that it's pushing the hitch further away from the tow vehicle which may cause further stresses on the tow bar. The unit itself looks well made and an interesting concept. Are they going to be sold in Australia?

      @justinb.8930 6 років тому

      Campbell Peters it's not moving the tow vehicle farther away the weight of the trailer is in the same spot. All it's doing is allowing the truck and trailer to have another pivot point instead of being solid on the truck which is truly harder on the receiver hitch. I tow boat and for my job and I'm really thinking about getting one very awesome concept and does take away alot of the stress on your vehicle and trailer

    We are a family of 4 living full time in a RV. We have a 36' bumper pull RV with a max weight of 11,200 LBS. I have been looking most between the Anderson WD and the Equalizer WD. I went to Geny Hitches website and they state this hitch virtually eliminates all sway. When you are pulling a house as large as mine from the bumper, sway control is important. Winds have a major affect on how your trailer tracks behind your truck. I see that you have experiences with the reg Geny, the Torsion Flex Geny and on TFL you have used the Anderson WD. In your opinion which is best for a large trailer? The reg Geny W/ WD, Torsion Flex Geny, Anderson WD or Equalizer WD.

      +FAMILY RV LIFE With that big of trailer, you need WDH on any of the hitches you use. What is the tow vehicle?

      This is NOT an anti-sway hitch. You would still need a WDH with anti-sway when using this hitch. It's sole purpose is to reduce the impact of rough roads.

    enjoyed the video, I have been looking for something like this for a while and will give it a try on the down side it is kind of expensive and was wondering if you would recommend this hitch for towing a 22ft bumper pull trailer with a 8000lb skidsteer, we recently got a new tow vehicle (2015 chevy express 3500) and are trying to reduce wear and tear on it, we previously towed with a 2001 suburban 2500 and it wore out our tires unevenly and fast. in your opinion would this hitch help our needs or should i be looking at something different? thanks for your time and really enjoy the videos. ps would love to see an update on load trail atv trailer with lowering front gate to load atvs from trailer to pick up. thanks again and keep up the good work sir.

    Hello Mr Truck, thanks for the video. I recently purchased a 2022 GMC Diesel 2500, and I have a 28 foot Airstream TT . I did not attach a WD hitch and towed out West 10K miles with no sway problems and when driving on flat surfaces , it was so smooth with no problems at all.. The only issue I have is when I would go over a frost heave or a bump in the road, the front of my truck bounces what seems excessively. When I slow down this eliminates a lot of this, but since I never owned a truck before I was wondering if this hitch will help with that?

    Why do you not have a wdh on the 8000 lb trailer you are towing?? I love the hitch and the torsion idea but thought over 5000lbs you needed wdh.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, on some horse trailers it's hard to attach WDH. Later you will see the long term horse trailer we cut the holes in the trailer and use wdh. On a borrowed new horse trailer, we can't be cutting holes in it. Alot of 1/2 ton's now go to 7-8000 lbs of trailer before the OEM says you have to use wdh. But if you are towing a box trailer, like RV or cargo trailer, a good wdh with sway control helps much in windy conditions.

    I like the concept, However I just purchased a dually and some say that a weight distribution is no longer necessary along with sway control .What is your feeling about that since my trailer is 10,000 lbs and I have a 1100 lb lounge weight. I sure would like the hitch you reviewed to ease all those uneven surfaces on the highway . It sure would smooth out the ride . What do you say about weight distribution hitches and sway control and dually trucks, are they needed still .

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  6 років тому

      You'll need to read your owners manual. Ram on some years say over 12,000 lb trailer you need WDH, lately Ford and GM rate WDH and weight carrying the same. Have you tried the trailer yet?

    • @Trike.
      @Trike. 6 років тому

      Yes i did , the bumper pull trailer is a 3 axle Toy hauler . Its 35 ft from front of hitch to tail lights. I towed it 500 miles in the rain and had no problems . It towed solid and was very stable without a weight distribution hitch . I towed it with a 2011 Duramax crew cab long box dually . The tongue weight of the trailer is 1,260 lbs and the combined weight of tongue and trailer is 9.960 lbs . I have access to agriculture scales 24/7 so i have real world data and weighed the trailer by itself unhitched jack down on the scale and the trailer came in at 9,960 lbs . Then i weighed it again with the weight on the hitch of the truck and all 3 axles of the trailer still on the scale and it came in at 8700 lbs . The total weight of my truck and trailer and me and the dog on the scale was 18,700lbs The Duramax has the 2.5 hitch receiver and the hitch i bought is rated to 12,000 lbs and then the ball is a 2 5/16ths and the ball is made in china . I dont know what the ball is rated for .It was the only thing available for me to get the trailer home . The trailer is a 3 axle toy hauler and rated for a 5,500 lb load . I will be hauling a 1,300lb ATV in the bed of the truck while pulling the trailer . And then some other toys in the trailer so i will be over the 12000 lb limit of my bumper pull hitch . Not the Chevy mounted receiver hitch , just the 2 1/2 hitch and ball . So is there any advantage or safety concerns about not having a weight distribution and sway control while pulling 11,000 lbs on a modern dually . Is it possible to to get into a out of control trailer sway condition with a dually ? Have you ever heard of it happening to a person with a dually . Or will it just make the ride a bit nicer? Thanks

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  6 років тому

      Look in your owners manual on WDH. GM is particuler on using WDH in your year of Duramax. Now GM and Ford rate WDH and WC (weight carrying the same.

    Hi Mr.Truck, question for you. I have a 2004 lincoln Navigator and it came with air supension, but I recently swapped the air suspension with conventional coilover setup.. the coilovers I bought are a 2 inch drop from factory height. My question is, if its safe to tow with lowered springs? I did not cut them, they were engineered and manufactured to be less coil and they come mated with a ultra high pressured damping strut. do you think it is safe to hook up a trailer or would I bottom out on dips and potholes?

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  9 років тому

      +Geovanni Delgado That would be a question for the aftermarket coil over you're using. You'll know after you tow with it, if it bottoms out. And it's important to keep the Lincoln level with a trailer so it will depend on how much the trailer weighs.

    • @Brownnproud91
      @Brownnproud91 9 років тому

      +MrTruckTV your right, and by trailer I dont mean nothing crazy in size. it would just be occasionally a U-Haul trailer plus its cargo weight and passenger weight. But thank you for your response!

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  5 років тому

      I say yes you need WDH. I wouldn't put an overload spring or Sumo on a Raptor. We use the Gen-Y torsion with it's WDH. It works great for heavy trailers. I think at your trailer weight, the Andersen WDH will do the job. Gen-Y quit selling WDH. Now they have a shank to use with any WDH.

    I looks like trailer is going up and down more on the hitch ball itself than on that receiver , prob. All it helps with is dumping vibration if that receiver even has some kids of rubber bushings in that hitch , otherwise not a big improvement

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +Viktor P From the video of the hitch on the road, you can see that the trailer and truck are moving separately, that's the point to isolate movement.

      But truck and trailer already moving somewhat independently , trailer is not welded to the truck hitch, trailer moves up and down on the ball that's why we have it for the trailer to move up and down left to right ?

      Look at ur video where trailer is connected to the ball on receiver , trailer moves up and down on the ball more than that receiver arms moves , obviously it helps but the way u say it is like the trailer is solid welded to the truck hitch , which is misleading , tortion suspension trailers move independently, trailer hitch slides on ball receiver , this hitch receiver is just a backup where maybe if u go off-roading and ur road is really looks like after ww2

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +Viktor P The ball and coupler like your shoulder socket is fairly tight, that's how they are designed. Just like a gooeneck coupler compared to a mini 5th wheel, big difference in the connection. The min-5th wheel is a loose connection moves dramatically compared to a ball socket.
      On a normal trailer hitch, you feel all the vibration the trailer feels and the horse in the trailer feels what the truck is doing. It does make a difference. With horses you see a difference in how they perform after a long haul.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому +1

      +Viktor P Generally torsion axles only have about 2.5 inches of travel. Which means if the trailer axle moves 2.5 inches, beyond that the suspension is left to the flexing of the tire. Keeping the torsion axle inside if it's wheel travel improves it's ride.
      Geny hitch with a loaded trailer, the hitch drops to the center of the torsion travel so it can move up and down.

    Not a weight distributing hitch, so while it may cushion the ride, your truck is going to be nose-up

      Who said it was a WDH?

    • @TheRVConnection
      @TheRVConnection 3 роки тому

      @@MrTruckTV No one, but you didn't note that either...so someone who purchases it without that knowledge is going to end up with a truck that is nose-up, particularly if the hitch is loaded to near capacity.

    Some of the parts are within 2" of the pavement

    overall, very subjective. I would prefer a clinical trial and result, whereby forces are measured. this is a demo of how the geny works, and not one of objective results achieved.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      Yes, it's made for that. We'll be trying it out in a TFL truck video soon

    I give this video a D- because of the EXTREMELY LOUD advertisement at 0:46. It just about blew out my ears. This kind of add gimmick turns me off. I won't even finish this video. Thumbs down.

      +Roger Pacific Sorry about that, it was past footage I put together and didn't realize the sound was a different level.

      +MrTruckTV Thanks for replying. not the add still has the EXTREMELY LOUD section in it. Could you remove the video, fix it and return it to YOU-TUBE.. I came back because it is a good video and describes the process very well. Would like to see it fixed. Thanks.

    I personally don't see spending that much money on something that puts a bigger load on your rear suspension let alone raising the front of your truck less control on turns and braking this will get someone on the road killed

      +Tyler Harty Wrong, I hit pot holes on the edge of the road so hard, it bent one of the axle spindles on the trailer.

    This will make the trailer sway and track in its own vs the truck. Tongue weight will be amplified as well the future the ball is from tge receiver. Not a good design.

    • @MrTruckTV

      It doesn't make the trailer sway and with the torsion on the truck, I can use WDH
