Thief STOLE My Filming Equipment At The Carboot Sale!

- My most stressful carboot sale EVER!
This time the booty didn’t go to plan due to a regular buyer stealing our camera equipment, it completely threw me off and ruined the end of our filming!
Overall we had a fairly good bootsale for the first one of the year but I was completely gutted this happened 😩
On a positive note the bootsale community is like no other, I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me find the thief……
The Crystal Palace organisers and security were absolutely amazing during the situation 🙌🏼
Not only did the thief steal our camera equipment, I helped him with providing boxes to fill up with our FREE stock, sadly it’s a complete abuse of trust and kindness!
Luckily 99.9% of people at the bootsale are incredibly grateful for our free stock and bargains so I won’t let this STOP us from doing what we love!

I'm so glad you got your equipment back - There are some real dodgy people out there, the people you can trust are few and far between. It's heart warming to know how many people helped you out at CP and it's a timely reminder for everyone to be on their guard

I’m not an angry or violent person in the slightest but this made my blood boil, just the principle of it, when I finally got it back it was just a feeling of relief to be honest 🙏🏼
Some people will take the shirt off your back if they see an opportunity to, your kindness has been abused by one bad apple. Lots appreciate you and support you. 😊

Awww, Luke, this is going to be a long type. Firstly, the body cam on Kev was awesome 👌 he is a right grafter, and talk about politeness isn't in it. He is an impeccable guy, and his manners are beautiful, and his customers' service skills are amazing 👏 please big up Kev from me. Now, now lol 😂 I have not long been home from work and made a jacket spud with cheese and beans looking forward to the video. Well, omg, when you said about the clothing department and mentioned me, the whole spud cheese and beans went out out of my mouth onto the floor with laughing 😂, I thought it was hilarious, but I did notice we had a bulk buyer from the clothing department haha with his 16 garments for 20 quid, what a bargain he got.
Next, Josh did really well, so big up Josh also from me. Now, this is where my laughter turned to upset 😡 and I genuinely had tears in my eyes to what happened with the camera and equipment it upset me because I could see you were upset, and you're always happy go lucky, it also upset me because in these cost of living times I think your amazing to let folk have the items for free and I see your a person with great emphany and that's why you have that likeable factor and your genuine. And what goes around comes around, and it you do wrong to others, it will come back tenfold onto you, so let the universe work its magic and karma will bite that runt on hiss a*se. I am soooo relieved you got it back in the end because I was going to start a go fund me page if not, haha 😊.
Don't let this incident stop you from being you. Dust yourself down and move on from it. But I tell you something, Luke, Dick Turpin ruined my tea because I couldn't eat it after seeing how distressed you were, so that guy had a lot to answer for, haha, but to be fair most of my tea is still on the floor at the clothing department saga bit haha 😂.

Kev is amazing isn’t he, like you say he’s very calm and polite, such a shame the incident ended up happening but I am so so glad we were able to locate the guy and get our equipment back!
It was actually my phone I was using as my camera, so it wasn’t the monetary value it had all my photos of my kids etc which upset me so much 😔
Still, we got it back and we just have to be extra vigilant from now!
We got some great clearances next week so expect more content soon 😃

@ClearanceGrafters I'm glad you had a good laugh 😃 because I did, too, and my dog thought Christmas had come early he was buzzing his tail off with all the free food all over the floor, then when Dick Turpin wannabee nicked the camera equipment I didn't feel like eating so he got the entire spud cheese and beans in the end haha 😆. Put that incident behind you now and maintain your positive mindset x

I was completely thrown off after the thief incident so didn’t share what I bought but it wasn’t anything to exciting, a piece of midcentury glass, a costume brooch and a stunning tortoise shell necklace with a tortoise pendant which also turned into a mirror 😍
I'm so sorry you had to go through that ordeal Luke, well done to the car boot security & the community you have there, please don't let it dampen your spirit, your a top man, cheers, Pete.👍

It’s sad to think that there’s people out there in such a rut that they feel the need to steal from booty sales.
It really is, this is why I like to give so much away for free as I know many are in need and are genuinely grateful for it 😔

If I’m honest, I was just relieved to get my phone and tripod etc back, I was absolutely fuming at the time but we just need to be more alert next time 🙌🏼

I do car boots and it is tough if you have a car rather than a van. So my tables always go in last so they come out first. That then gives me the framework to protect my boot and stop people going in there. I sometimes do the silly prices thing like another commenter and they soon leave things alone so I can sell to genuine buyers!😊
You have to have everything peeled you really do, some carboots I’ve attended in the past actually let you set up everything before the buyers come in which worked really well 🙏🏼
Car boot selling is not for the faint hearted...I have done a few in the past and in the end to stop all the dealers crowding around grabbing stuff before it gets put out. I pull up and wait about half an hour before I unload just a table full. I do not let people get stuff out of my car and if they bother me too much I just start telling them silly prices until they get the message and go away...once things have calmed down then I start getting a few bits at a time out but that's just MY method - I am not as patient as you guys!
I must say I actually enjoy the crowd at the beginning, yes we have to be incredibly vigilant and patient but they technically unpack for us, 99% of the buyers are incredibly trustworthy and respectful, anyone who isn’t I just give a shout off the back of the van if they’re throwing our stuff on the floor etc.
But equally I completely appreciate why you do it your way 🙌🏼

Luke I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s very hard when you trust and that gets broken. It was an exciting video though and will probably get masses of views meaning you should hopefully get more subscribers which you deserve. There will be a plus side to this somewhere. Glad you’re all okay. 🌻🌻

There's always a chancer and he took a chance. You were lucky to get your stuff back. I think you need more man power at your stall instead of (2) I think, as many have light fingers and will give you a sob story if you catch them. Happened everytime I done a boot sale so be careful.

It’s rare we get over to Hounslow these days, this is just due to the distance but if we get to a stage where we have too much carboot and not enough storage, this is when we’ll be there 🙌🏼
Here's a thought..as you wear glasses - have you seen the new R@@ B@@n glasses with an inbuilt camera? I have hidden the name but I think you can see who I mean as UA-cam will take down my comment it I actually name the make!

Hi luke i can see you are new to online blogging business, i would recommend for you to install your filming gear away from people first some people would not be happy to show their face online videos (privacy etc) second some others when they hear free they wipe it all off without even checking, just me thinkg loud 😂
Hey thanks for the feedback, the tripod is a new thing, we usually wear body cameras and attach to the van etc, we make people very aware we film and most welcome it, a few politely ask not to be in the video and we always cut them out.
I’ve been doing bootsales 6 years now and this is the first incident we’ve ever had, most know us and 99% are completely respectful of how we do things, besides the odd tub going missing but I guess we just have to learn from this incident and keep a closer watch on things 🙏🏼

Hi me again 😊 Some people aren’t as honest as you and I, I’ve been working in your industry now for 25 years 😮 I’m vair .. vair old 😊 I’ve learned loads of new stuff from your content so thanks for that, you’re a real grafter. Just one thing though, please … please .. make sure you’ve got a tracker fitted on that van. I had one stolen in between lockdowns in 2020 and it caused me no end of problems which a tracker might have avoided. If you want the details of the company that fits mine feel free to DM me. Glad you got the camera back , but he might have thought that it was included in the free stuff you were giving away . I am sure many people who go carboot sales don't speak proper English . Give the guy the benefit of the doubt. From the pictures we don't see him steal your camera.
I appreciate what you say but you got to be an absolute idiot to think it was free, it wasn’t just a camera, it was my phone, on a tripod with my microphone equipment hanging out the end, whilst it was recording 🤷♂️ it doesn’t matter where you come from in the world, everyone would clearly know this isn’t free.
Luckily there were 100s of people there who witnessed the incident which is why we retrieved my equipment out of his carboot 🙏🏼

Did you not watch the whole video? He didn’t admit it, he tried walking off when first confronted, then denied it and only when I continued to question it he said it was free! So no, he definitely didn’t admit it. Did he return it? No, myself and the carboot security had to escort him to his car to retrieve it, so it definitely wasn’t returned and this was certainly no misunderstanding 😂
No one mistakenly takes a phone on a tripod with microphone equipment whilst it’s recording then turns the phone off 🤯
