There were a lot of factors outside of Grimlords control, but what happened to their company absolutely is their fault. Launching a way underdeveloped game and getting funding just on mini renders was a decision way prior to Covid, Inflation, Brexit etc.. Not communicating with their backers was a decision made over and over again during the campaign nobody forced them into. Not hiring staff and not working on the game full time so that it is taking years to complete was their own decision. They tanked their company themselves. And I think it is tanked for good, Adam Smith is already out there starting projects under a new company name, not wanting anything to do with Grimlord no more claiming to just having been a hired designer despite having been the face of the company! On another note: I kinda dig the poncho, looks cozy!
I bought this game and most of the expansions retail. I really feel for backers on this. The game though - there's plenty of people slating it, but theres a really good and enjoyable game in there. Yes, the rulebook is undercooked and there are unanswered questions - but if the game really appeals answers can be cound and some house rules can be brought in where necessary. Yes, that shouldn't be required etc, but if youve paid for it and you really want to make it work it is doable, and whats more - really enjoyable.
This game looks gorgeous, love the theme and all! Might get me a copy! Sadly the neoprene mat and the neoprene player board are not that usable because they were printed smaller...
I'd almost completely forgotten that I pledged for this until it showed up on my doorstep yesterday. I can see why past me thought it looked awesome, but after punching and organizing it I find that I really don't have any desire to learn and play it. Of note, I didn't pay anything extra to have it delivered.
I received it today (a little bit more than a week after this video being published). But I didn't paid the 44$ shipping extra ... Not sure how it works
Alma/Sub Terra 2/ CryptX/Aquanauts - All Inside The Box games (ITB Games) the one that sent out that update about Peter not paying their employees. Pledge manager shut down his pages because he won't communicate with them. The designer of the game and two of the translation publishers posted a joint post because Peter had not communicated with them. It's a rough situation.
I'm sorry for your loss with that game board because the playmat was sadly not printed properly. You'll find out when you bring it to the table. Love the game though! After a playthrough or two, you might also be interested in the alternate win conditions suggested on BGG as the current win-condition is a bit lackluster for an otherwise fantastic game.
I missed the campaign but got the core game from retail last year. The world-building is great but the gameplay unfortunately didn't live up to the atmosphere. We played it once, had a lot of questions that noone had any answers for and the win-loss condition was a huge letdown. And then I sold it.
@@BoardGameCo I went all in. Pretty excited but not sure when it will be shipped. I'm hopeful it will be as good in person. Played a quite a few sessions on TTS.
Wow, Grimlord Games REALLY fumbled this project and completely ghosted backers on Village Attacks. The worst part is it was a top anticipated game for me.
The Everrain is flawed, no question. It does not lack in atmosphere or world building however. Over all its a cool game and there are a few great resources on BGG that I would recommend you use during gameplay instead of the atrocious rule book... Wish I would have gotten a hold of the Sun dropped version - It looks great!
I only wish someone would hold Grimlord games accountable for the "Village Attack Grim Dynasty" mess... I think a little more critical reporting on the matter would be in order.
Adam Smith of Grimlord Games successfully made Grimlord Games a Failure out of Success. I stopped giving to him after the Endure the Stars Reprint radio silence and delivery fiasco for a reprint. This was 2 years before covid shutdowns disrupted everything. I'm glad you guys are finally getting the nEverrain games! I'm sad that Grimlord Games deserved better leadership.
I'm glad you're finally unboxing The Everrain. Please give it a try. There are way too few reviews/opinions out there. Only the stupid "Neverrain" is in everyone's minds 🙄
I sadly backed Alma. It’s my first backed game that will never fulfill. I wish I would have done more research on the company before backing. Lesson learned.
Thats alot of pretty miniatures. Well...monstrous. But the plastic looks well made. Still feel kinda annoyed and sad that Tainted Grails heroes were so damn badly made. Super crisp and good looking renders. But the model for my hero, Ailei, looked melted. So even tho I havent backed this im happy that this game looks so good. Lets hope it plays well too
I don't think the game is real. Alex just got really really good at CGI
Ha! You said Alex is good at something
@@BoardGameCo Yep and you can either admit the game is fake and you are good at CGI or my record stays clean 😛

That's interesting...
I remember you told me you missed the window to back this.
And now I have to go out in order to find some rum raisin ice cream.
Well that's just reasonable
Ty for this surprise video!
The game looks amazing,
Waiting for a review 🤩

Ouch...that pushes me further into the not sure if I need it camp
Hi Alex similar context, what's your thoughts on Euthia: Torment of Resurrection?
I liked it a lot, while also feeling that the buildup and rules overhead made it so that I wasn't likely to table it that often

That is a looooooong wait..
Very much so
Oh that ripped board...I've been there before 😞
So now is the game good ?

Yeah, the whole situation is definitely unfortunate. I also almost backed the last campaign too.

nice poncho
Thanks!
Those boards look very thin
Please play this one. Thank you
I might, there's a long backlog of campaign games, and not everything is going to make it.
