Just listened to her singing In Questa Reggia and was convinced that she’d make a better Liu. This is what I needed to hear. Really so lovely. More than enough voice to bring sublime musicality and grace to it.

emilio spera I noticed that she took a couple of unwanted breaths (where a beginner would) too, but she’s not taking unusual liberties with tempo or phrasing. I just reviewed Monserrat Cabaille’s rendition and boy is that dated and - at least by modern interpretive standards - just flat out bad taste (butcthe crowd goes wild nonetheless 🙄).
