- This week Charlie is joined by half of his sisters Betsy, Maggie, Mary Kate and Bridget, for a special episode of the Cripescast. They start the episode by opening a bottle of wine with a screw and hammer and share stories about growing up with 12 siblings. Highlights include Maggie’s story about Charlie getting picked up by the cops at 17, voting games that pin sibling against sibling, and Charlie getting advice on his upcoming commencement speech.
Find us on all social platforms @cripescast @charlieberens and on Patreon patreon.com/charlieberens
The music behind the advertisements (aside from Maggie's beautiful rendition of "Jingle Bells") is "Double Polka" by Kevin McLeod.
One brother up against 4 sisters….. we’re gonna need more beers for this man. This was my main focus the whole time while I was laughing haha
we got another episode with the rest of the sisters coming soon!
The rest of the…… dude 😳. I have sisters and having them all in a room is both great and terrifying so for you to do this you are a freaking G dude. I salute you 🫡. Looking forward to it 😁.
@@cripescast watching this is like watching the royal rumble…. Four guys trying to eliminate the Big Show, only to start bickering with each other halfway through it
How any of these magnificent women single is crazy to me. All seem like the perfect Midwest woman to bring home to the family
As an older sister, I don't feel sorry for him! 😂My brothers would though!
Charlie directing his sister through Madison by way of knowing the bars was something that KILLED ME 😂😂😂
"Shout out to the Amish."
"They'll never hear this. " haha
Don't be an auschloct, we can watch on our neighbors magic picture box.
Drinking Game:
Take a sip every time someone says “Sorry, Colleen” and a full drink when all 5 are in unison.
Best of luck! 😉
I think we need a mixed siblings podcast in the next year.
I have nine kids, having a big family is a blast! Their all grown the baby is 20 and when we all get together we laugh and talk about the good times and how hilarious it was. We had so much fun and today all my kids are close to their sibs, they call each other to talk and get together when they can. It makes me so very happy that they are all best friends. It's been my privilege and pleasure to raise these kids and embrace their diverse personalities and experience what amazing adults they are today. Kudos to the Berens family for their 12 kids and seeing how much they enjoy one another!
I can't even imagine growing up with that many siblings. Never a dull moment, I bet 😂
Love this family❤😂
Watched the whole thing- It's beautiful! I love listening to adult siblings tell the tales of growing up- so sweet and stuff that's really funny to them. I'm the oldest kid and grandkid- my younger sister and brother (and cousins) can slip right back into telling tales and remembering the good times we had. Thanks for sharing this- looking forward to Part 2!
This should be a weekly thing!! Love it to think that they are all younger than Charlie and he is helpless around them! Hahahaha!
Charlie this feels like I am in the living room with my cousins in Milwaukee. Love this so much.
This reminds me of talking with my siblings 🤣 we’re 5, I can’t imagine being one of 12
Underrated joke in the cast… *cream soda spews after being open*
bird: “First time eh?”
The stories about your dad are hilarious! My dad sounds exactly the same. Did he ever yell, "You ain't got the brains God gave a piss ant?" to drop a truth bomb about your decision making? They don't make dads like they used to.
Lol. Thank you Colleen! Also, I had no idea listening to the description of seats going into and out of a van could make me laugh so hard.....
Beautiful and handsome siblings.
Goes to show you have beautiful parents.
Thanks for the laughs too.
Dads yelling at your child for bad math grades is tradition, as well, yelling at your child while teaching how to drive.
Beautiful sisters - lucky brother!
This is the most midwestern podcast ever🍺
As a Canadian, listening to this episode felt completely normal and I absolutely loved it 😂 I need to take a trip to the Midwest soon, feel right at home away from home
So glad I found it
What an incredibly good looking family.
The Plaza was one of my hangs! Got carded (and kicked out) for the first time the night before the birthday when I turned legal.
"I wasn't on top of anybody!!
-Charlie 😂
** I was checking her for ticks Dad, I swear!**
I really learned something useful today with the screw in the cork. So useful!
Just started listening to all your podcasts! This one has me in stitches 😂 What a great family can’t wait to meet the rest! Lol
Charlie was right about the Bible quote! In the book of Luke, Jesus talking to the religious leaders telling them to quit being so haughty. Nice Berens!
The first will be last, and the last will be first? Or, ...don't take the seat of honor, humble yourself to the seat of the least , and be honored when you're requested to come and sit in the place of honor....? He remembered it😅
Charlie, you have to do another video with your other 4 sisters, then with your brothers! I absolutely loved this video!🇨🇦👏🏻👀👏🏻🇨🇦🥰👍🇨🇦
Her sisters have such beautiful voices … I would listen them all day ❤
This was fun to watch! Thanks for sharing 👍
This is the sweetest thing! Thank you.
I’m one of 7 and I’m dying over the playing survivor
Yes, that was awesome!
What a fun way to meet the fam! Great stories and you all sound so fun!
Love this! Siblings….so open and honest! 😂
Great stuff, Family is forever! Also Charlie I didn’t know you were so old 🤣
There’s nothing better than siblings hashing it up lol
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I'm the oldest of 12, now in my mid-30's, and so grateful for the big family culture I grew up in--twas a crazy adventure. We had a green 15 passenger because my mom refused to drive a "church van"--we called it the Green Bean. 😂 Looking forward to part 2!
Hi Mary Kate ☺️. You guys are all great! I moved to the Midwest a few years ago, my dad is from Madison but lives in Washington State now I'm in Ohio 3k miles from home so this makes me feel like I'm with family for the holidays, so thank you. Also Charlie I saw you at the Agora when you were in town and loved it. I am a bartender there as a second job but took the night off to watch your set and you did not disappoint. Keep it up guys!
Loved this!! Im oldest of 13 & this reminds me of when my siblings & I get together! 🤣
One of the funniest podcast episodes I've ever heard; as one of 3 brothers, funnily enough, it's a very similar dynamic between us and you folks, so it feels just like a family reunion
Coming from a family of thirteen, we know the pain endured dealing with those gosh dark seats!!!
Can't wait to see the other sisters!!
I didn’t know you had this podcast! I always listed to Bellied Up but I found this today and I’ve spent the last 90 minutes dying listening to your sisters roast you 😂 I know your place! I have 3 younger brothers. I get verbally beat up all the time! (Also somebody get this man 7 more beers)
laughed out loud at "pissed off rapunzel" 😂😂
I was quite impressed that Charlie not only knew the months of his sister’s birthdays but even the dates!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good stuff Charlie. Keep it up bud
A family we'd all like to have
You have a wonderful family, bless you 😊
Definitely ganged up on him a little bit... 😁 Great Podcast!
This is so much fun. Makes me wish I lives in their hometown.
My older brother was pretty mean, now he is scared of me! Karma! Gotta love little sisters!
Great podcast with great story’s
I'm also named Bridget and have been called both bitch-it and bird shit! Too funny!!
How could MK be single??!? Mary Kate is beautiful and has a great humor. Get at it the DIY outdoorsman guys!!!!
I love my sister but I couldn’t imagine 2 or more!
Love to see the the brothers.. Bill Drew and John
My lord Mary Kate is beautiful 🫠 I love your content, Charlie! Hope to see you live sometime 🤙
Love this!
Love it! From a big family myself so I relate!
Oh yah gotta make sure everyone is buckled in. Safety first ya know!
I want to exists in Midwest. It's like a thing within itself that just happens everywhere all the time.
So funny, we are a family of six, mostly sisters, so I thoroughly enjoyed this.
So hilarious! I have 2 brothers no sisters. Crazy stories. Always wanted a sister! But plenty of female cousins, are female cousins called cousinettes? spent many hours in those long 15 seat vans, noisy cold. Lived in Minnesota 1 hour east of Fargo Moorehead little town called Fergus Falls at a Norwegian American Lutheran Brethren boarding school called Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. No dancing no movies, no bowling or MTV But we were kept very busy! Amazing academics, basketball, music, to stay out of trouble and stay warm. Great year! 1985 to 1986! Knew many good people from Wisconsin !
Funny, I've opened many wine bottles with a drywall screw and pliers.
The Dick Berens stories are hilarious. Looking forward tp part two. Also, how in da heck is MK single?!
I'm also a Bridget and called "bitch it" and bird shit. Twins! Hah
This so so adorable!!
Hey Charlie! This is fun. Gonna have to do it in a few segments though. Nice visit! Fun to get to meet some of your sisters and hear some stories. Can all Berens tell stories? All good at it?
No, he has superpowers. He has done this his whole life
With that many siblings, I would put them all on my phone calendar because I can’t remember birthdays and I only have about three or four people in my family and extended family.
Good stuff!
I feel you Charlie! I have 4 sisters....you have more than me but I feel your pain! Btw i am moving to Appleton from Southern California the first of April!
I'm amish and I'm listening. Lol seriously
Aye we’ve got the same rug in our house coming from another Wisconsinite
Charlie gets the best brother award ❤
Oh man! I actually really do need a realtor for the Wisconsin area! Maggie, I need your info. :)
"Moms gonna listen to this" Charlie I've watched you stroke another mans plank of lumber 😂
Charlie, proud of you for not editing out the story about you making out lol.
Now I want to know what the disallowed starting question was!
Mary Kate and Bridget are serious dime pieces
Man, thought you'd be a "Chicago Bear" to live with after seeing you on Monday Night Football. Dose guys didn't even say hi to the folks for ya. Jee whill a kers. But, wow, this is bigger! Your sisters still talk to you!
Oh, yeah, Christmas.
Back to rough stuff in the new year, starting with a hangover and dad's out of bitters.
I have a cousin who also had the nickname bird. She got it when she was really young. I dont know exactly how she got it but i believe it was from sounds she made.
Oh man this is a roast fest holidays must be fun 😆
I have only tried a cartwheel with 2 friends assisting me. I have steel rods in my back from scoliosis surgery. I can twirk, but the main back area does not bend. LOL!!
Just found this podcast and it is hilarious. Charlie I hope that you apologized to Betsy because as a brother on sister's too, she was pissed.
I gots one close 7 year older sis. I can't imagine 4 or more. This was cool fun watching and good fun to kinda see yous all bonding n socially building in front of us us.
Man this guy has mega sisters, musta been hell growing up wirh all the guys coming around.
Mary Kate, great composure 😂
Mary-Kate, absolutely gorgeous, funny and also gorgeous.
Hey Charlie, I'm 26 and a physicist (scientist) from MN, you tell your sis Mary I says hi now 🤭
Never heard of the berens but it was interesting to hear some stories from childhood, and then randomly an aussie walks in from brissy....
Y'all need to do a brothers podcast!
Your family looks fun. I wanna come to Christmas
There was one time i was leaving work and backed into someone. I was driving my dads ram 3500 at the time and it had a trailer hitch on it. I just didnt see or hear them when backing out. There wasnt any significant damage at all but we did call the police and report it.
I wanna see you teach them how to gut a deer🤔🤯🤣🤣
How does only Charlie have the Wisconsin accent? 😮
As an only child, this was a strange thing to observe ha
31:44 Nice sneeze Mary Kate. Bless you.
And 44:13, too.
Your sisters have voices identical to your mom! By the way, Charlie, do you know how lucky you are to have four sisters? You are truly blessed!
He has 8 sisters 😉
Having multiple sisters is definitely a blessing, I only have 2 sisters but every time I visit them they humble me while also bringing up embarrassing stories 😂 love them
Any family with a lot of siblings knows about the no-mans land that is the top of the fridge! Lol! Another form of domestic torture that the youngest members of my family had to endure from time to time was being hung up on a coat hook by the straps of our little overalls! My sister and I would CRY and cry.. as we dangled there, kicking and screaming, as my oldest siblings laughed and took photos of us.
I was the youngest, and I remember it not being "as bad" as my next oldest sister described it, and one thanksgiving I brought up that I didn't think it was AS bad, and my oldest sister brought up a really good point! She reminded me that the reason I didn't remember it being that bad was because I was a naughty, hyperactive, little kid with ADHD, and all sorts of other problems, and the only thing I refused to do MORE than potty train, was.. sit still long enough for anyone in my family to actually change my diaper! So until about the age of 6 years old, at any given time, chances were good that undernearh my little OshKosh B'Gosh coveralls, I would have on a thick and hugely-swollen, diaper that was LONG overdue for a change hours ago!
And this actually became part of my "rambunctious-little-boy-armor" and gave me super-powers as a hyperactive little kid who was ALWAYS climbing tall objects and subsequently falling (from various heights), landing on either my butt or crotch, and being able to just get up, brush myself off, and walk away unscathed.. whereas my older sisters would have very mild falls and end up on the ground in tears when they would do things like straddle the little balance beam we had in our basement! Or they'd end up crying in pain, gripping their bony little butts with both hands any time they would fall and land on a hard surface!
So this is why there are plenty of photos of me and my sister hanging by the straps of our coveralls from the coat hooks in our old kitchen, and my sister is in tears.. whereas I usually just have a big grin on my face. And if you look closer, you can tell that it looks like I have a big camel toe.. well thats because the crotch of my coveralls is pressed up against a thick wet diaper! So my little balls are protected and I'm perfectly comfortable hanging there.
After 6 years old, they told me that they had to stop doing it because once I was out of diapers, hanging me by my straps would put me in SO much pain because it would squish my nutsac so much that I would be in tears! Lol.
Dang, I was waiting for you all to break out in a song, like that Cimorelli family.
"Rut beer floats and tears" 😢
The last shall be first, and the first shall be last.
