    It was nice spending 35 minutes with you this morning, Darryl. Loved your joke about timing your road trip to Florida in months! While we're in this anti-EV 'phase' in this country, I'm going to look for a 2023 Bolt EV here in Phoenix after the start of the new year so I can get the $7500 Federal tax credit applied immediately. We'll see if I'm able to find one or if I have to wait for the next generation Bolt using the Ultium platform to come out. Thanks for giving me additional confidence to make the transition to an EV vehicle!

      the Bolt is an incredible car especially with the tax credit. the video is right on saying the only main disadvantage is the DC fast charging speed is slower than other EVs. so if you do a lot of long road trips it may not be the best choice. at a DC fast charger you could add 150-200 miles in an hour, so if you’re fine taking an hour lunch/charging break on a trip after the initial full charge driving 4 hours it can work.
      if you wait to get the 2025? next generation Bolt Ultium battery model, then the DC fast charging speeds will be several times faster like adding 150-200 miles range in 20 minutes.
      I’d get one now if you need a car as it’s already a well-proven car, unless you often do 200+ mile long drives and are in a rush when driving. also consider the Chevy Equinox EV coming in 2024 that already has the Ultium battery and its faster DC fast charging speeds, but it’s bigger and a little more expensive than the Bolt.

      great video Darryl, I also got a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and it’s an amazing car and the real-world range is well above the EPA 259 mile rating, am getting around 300 miles range

    A suggestion on the radio. Just turn the volume down to zero before stopping the car.

    Just got done renting a Bolt EUV for four days and am convinced that in 24 it will be my next vehicle. I managed to go 18 miles and lose not one mile of charge. Even my wife who was against EVs before I rented the Bolt is convinced that I can get a Bolt. She followed me when I was returning the vehicle that I managed to keep 69 miles of range for about six or seven miles without loosing range. The DC fast charging was horrible, but it could be it was 40 degrees or the Chargepoint charger was not working properly. If I do get the Bolt a level 2 charger will be installed at my house. Regen braking is so much fun to use.

      @EV-Darryl  10 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely. I love my Bolt. The level 2 in my garage is perfect. Road-tripping the Bolt in any kind of weather is not good at all, but for 95% of everything I do, it’s perfect, and yes very very efficient.

    • @Damon_Mah
      @Damon_Mah 9 місяців тому +1

      everything you said is right on, and the Bolt EV is the best for most people unless you regularly do long 300+ mile drives
      besides the $7,500 federal tax credit, GM has a great promo offer now when purchasing a Bolt will pay up to $1,000 for a Qmerit electrician to install a 240 volt outlet in your garage. if you don’t have a garage or already have an unused 240 volt outlet in your garage, as the video mentions GM will instead give you a free $500 EVgo charging station prepaid card.

    You can set the volume of the radio to 0 in the menu of the radio. That way you don't hear it

      I saw that. You can also use the back of the steering wheel to turn it down but it just seems weird to me to not be able to turn it off. Maybe it’s just me but….. lol

      I agree. As a ride share vehicle they are perfect. We just drove down from illinois to Florida and every ride share car I saw(8) in Nashville were all Chevy bolts……. Awesome

    To turn the radio "off" set it to be on Sirius channel 0, even without a Sirius subscription. It’s a dead air station so, it’s as close as you can come to “off.”

    Try pressing the Phone button on the steering wheel to turn it Off, and it will remain that way when you restart the car.

    If you fast charge only you may end up paying more then a gas car since some of the dcfc are over 50 cents a kilowatt hour

    • @Damon_Mah
      @Damon_Mah 9 місяців тому

      no reason to DC fast charge only unless on a long, time-constrained road trip
      most people only do this less than 10% of the time

      Will do, hopefully it’s after 300,000 miles or more, I’m sure other things will wear out before the battery.

    I know you said that you charge the car in the garage. Is the charging unit fixed or are you using a portable charging cord? Which brand do you use?

    • @EV-Darryl
      @EV-Darryl  11 місяців тому +2

      Good question. GM provided a Mobil connector and I purchased from them, the nema 14-50 upgrade that plugs into their Mobil unit. I had an electrician install the wiring to plug in my nema 14-50 GM plug. I am going to make a video showing the setup, thanks.

    • @Damon_Mah
      @Damon_Mah 9 місяців тому

      all Bolts come with a portable charging cord in the trunk for standard 110 volt 3-prong outlets, but it’s worth paying $295 for the optional dual level 110/240 volt charging cord (some manufacturers charge a lot more for this), then you can charge in any 110 or 240 volt outlet. additionally when buying a Bolt, GM’s current promotion includes up to $1,000 electrician credit towards installing a 240 volt outlet in your garage if you don’t already have that type of outlet, or need another one. if you don’t have a garage or already have an unused 240 volt outlet, as the video mentions they will instead give you a free $500 EVgo charging station prepaid charging card.
      once you have a 240 volt outlet in your garage, then you can purchase and install a fixed Level 2 wall charging unit for $500-600 if you don’t want to use the portable cord, but it’s not necessary just a little more convenient.

      My 2019 Terrain allows each driver to “pre-set” favorite radio station AND VOLUME. Simply set volume to 1 or 0 (Inside the user settings menus. Must be parked to access these menues.)

    Do you trust this car not to catch fire in your garage ? serious question I'm thinking of getting one and want to be able to sleep at night

    • @EV-Darryl
      @EV-Darryl  Рік тому +1

      That’s a great question. Since GM changed the battery configuration and recalled all bolts to replace the batteries, there has not been one issue. I was concerned but I do charge in my garage. Thanks.

    • @mteifke
      @mteifke Рік тому +4

      Of the over 200,000 Bolts sold only 19 caught fire, a gas car is 3,5 times more likely to catch fire

    There are suddenly a numerous number of BoltEV/EUV UA-camr's Raving about the Bolt and how Cheap it is to Operate. Guess they have FREE Electricity? He drives 3K a month and has only charged a few times according to him. Make sure your address is correct so GM gets you your check on time. Pure BS!

    • @EV-Darryl
      @EV-Darryl  11 місяців тому +4

      Sorry you feel that way. I’ve averaged 4.6 miles per kw since purchase (23,000) miles. That’s 155 mpg so it’s kinda cheap to drive. My electricity is .12 a kw, so $7.80 with a 65kw battery to go 299 miles, second grade math……. My last car , 2010 Prius, went 50 miles per gallon would cost $7.80 to go 100 miles…….. it was the most fuel efficient car in the world… only one third as efficient as my Chevy Bolt., thanks for the comment.

    • @Damon_Mah
      @Damon_Mah 9 місяців тому

      it’s the most efficient electric car, depending on where you live, charging costs are just $1-2/gallon equivalent, and on top of that way more convenient fueling at home if you can do that
