This song is great! My family is from Spansihburg but we moved away when I was seven. It is so strange to see the place I grew up in and remember so well. I love this song!
Nice pictures of the new river
My home town, and it is what dreams are made of.....I think the singer did a great job depicting our lil town!
I find this song resurfacing to the top of my mind every other time i got to drive back and see the folks in north west georgia. Its been goin on for about the last 8 years or so. Thanks for the music
@foxbodystang100: July 2011 Magnet Magazine: "...the former V-Roys frontman wrote the song about Spanishburg, W.V. According to Miller, the town has 'not yet (been) discovered by the land-grabbing retirees of northern Virginia. It’s only a matter time. That is what is happening to the town where I grew up just across the border into Virginia. Soon the people that grew up there won’t be able to afford to live there. It’s the way of the world, I guess. Poor folks build it, rich folks buy it.'”
Great song, thank you!
Awsome video. I was born and raised in spanishburg. The most beautiful place in wv in my opinion.
This video is awesome I grew up there and they had to call me minkus, that's why some of my friends put in on that sign and I use to play in that old church, the memories will never fade
Who wrote that on the sign?
What a great song and cool video.
I went to Spanishburg Elementary in 5th grade. Also, seen Hank Williams III dedicate that bridge. It's a better place to be from than to go back to....
AWESOME!!!!!!!
Wow, random. I went to junior high/high school in Spanishburg. All of the scenery makes me nostalgic.
Love it!
Grew up in Hedgesville, population 275 at the time. The place exploded and now they have a TV series filmed there. WTF happened, it is hard as hell to go back some times.
Looks like an excellent place to be (or be from). Great version of a great song. Love the message. Thanks!

Any news on "...forthcoming solo album, the follow-up to 2009′s 'Crying Out Loud'"?
F*&K Yeah!
What is the chord progression for this song?
can anyone tell me the history of the old church @1:31
Since WNKU was sold, Northern Kentucky lost it's link to a lot of great artists. Losing the original Southgate House didn't help. The death of it's owner, Ross Raleigh, has only served to exacerbate our declining local Americana music scene. The SH was replaced but the audio sucks there despite their efforts. Our live venue situation is still shaking out years later. Some venues have great audio, I.e. 20th Century Theater, but none have the soul of the SH. WNKU has not been replaced. A lot of great music, just like this beautiful, poignant song, goes unheard. What a fucking shame.
At least we still have John and Brenda Madden, dba JBM Promotions. Without them, our local live music options would be dull and limited. They've been bringing artists, like Scott, to town for prolly 40 years or more. Tell them thanks every time you see them! I do.
I bought this CD Sept. 25th at a Patty Griffin / Scott Miller show in Cincinnati. I've been burning it up ever since. Scott said he'd be back early next year. I'll be there!
KMAG YO YO? Did Hayes Carll hear this... ?
At least you know it's supposed to be West By God Virginia!
Great vid & great song as usual!
