One of the greatest country songwriters\musicians alive today and he gets overlooked. Why is he not on the radio? All night while I'm working I hear the same ten guys on three different country stations.
Wow. My cousin in Kentucky passed this along to me. I grew up in Princeton, also in Mercer County West Virginia. Spanishburg is just twenty or so miles from Princeton, but in reality it was in another universe. This song really cuts to the heart. The audio quality is superb, and this performance of the violin player along is worth a listen.
I’m from Spanishburg, WV and surrounding area since 1969 and this sounds nothing like the place where my family is from. I wonder if he’s ever been there.
too bad he never mentions that the place is named after a guy named Spanish Brown, and that Spanish Trace is just a community in Spanishburg. Great song though.
It's amazing when a songwriter makes you laugh and cry in the same three minutes. He's good.
This song is genius in my eyes. I live in Spanishburg. Thank you for making such a beautiful song about our little rural community.
I love that song!

he is on the radio in certain parts of the country.
Brilliant, beautiful, heartbreakingly true song about so many places (and our people) in the United States now.
Been enjoying watching scott play in Nashville lately. Thanks Scott. Me and the lady find it most enchanting.
I truly love this song. It brings me to tears by myself but I share it with others. Thank you🤗
Thank you for bringing good attention to my newly adopted home state of West Virginia.
Such an awesome songwriter!
God bless you Scott Miller, such a beautiful song.

the fiddle is amazing..the town is still there
Someday I hope to grow up to be as cool as Scott Miller...
And I love the sound of violin. It falls somewhere between old time fiddle music and John Cale.
Great song. Great lyrics.
I saw him last night in Asheville with a band. Unbelievably good. I'm a pretty fair songwriter. He humbles me.
Great tune. Love the fiddle.
The kind of rural gentrification he describes in this song is happening all across America
Such a great song!

Sure would be nice for the NPR - Tiny Desk to give him an invite once the world gets back to normal.
