Shore Tying and Skinny Dipping in New Zealand at D'Urville Island in the Marlborough Sounds

Hello Friends,
On this episode we make way for Greville Harbor on D'Urville Island. We were faced with a very tricky shallow pass that proved stressful but we made it through safely. Once in Millarm Bay we found a tight cove to anchor in and shore tied the stern to keep us safe and sound, tucked in close.
After the boat was set we enjoyed a swim in the warm waters of this protected harbor.

@@SailorJames it has been 7 for me but I have been through 2 divorces, lost custody twice, cancer tongue removed and now I am super healthy haha go figure! The lord works in mysterious ways I saw the video right when it happened and I was inspired by the way you reacted. You sailed and kept moving. Love your videos too! Good stuff.

They are so cute together I am so happy for him. First video I watched of his was when he and his wife parted ways and he was alone on that trip to Hawaii. My heart broke for him but I was also so happy for him for getting through at that voyage. So glad he is doing better since then. This is so inspiring.

Meh.... it's just New Zealand. Everywhere in the country is like that, but the weather can be awful sometimes. You never know what you're going to get as it's definately not in the tropics.

I mean, that was the plan when we all set off on that first voyage (so long ago ffs!) and then you dropped that heart breaking bombshell half way over to Hawaii... and now here we are, no longer solo. So cool. Really warms the cockles of my heart.

We have really enjoyed the more frequent videos since you do them so well. Don't forget that we also like to see some cooking along the way. I'm sure you have lots of lady sailors watching. We are in British Columbia, Canada on the west coast in a location near (4 hrs. what Vancouver called Desolation Sound because there were no areas to grow food but it is absolutely stunningly beautiful with fjords and fabulous anchorages. We sail a black Panda 40 "Warlord". We will be watching all of your videos as we have from your days sailing to Catalina and the Channel Islands. Rhonda is lovely and you both deserve to be happy !

I have said this before in your comments, but it bears repeating….
James, I discovered you when you were hauling the engine out of her in LA, along with some struggles and grief that came with it. Saw you preparing for your life at sea to begin, and the huge work involved in that. You and your brother diving to clean the bottom and what was definitely a loving brotherly bond… all very cool to see.
While I missed the “live”, it wasn’t by much as I wanted to see both of you push off and BEGIN. I believe we ALL could FEEL the pain right through the camera as your trip was suddenly to be a solo one; it doesn’t matter what the reasons or excuses were, it looked like really sh*tty timing and an obvious large blow to you. But James showed us all the real James and against SO many heartaches along with seemingly insurmountable technical and physical problems (not being able to steer in the middle of the Pacific, HUGE…) you KEPT GOING! I can’t tell you how much character you showed to all of us watching, it was all inspirational AF to witness you literally limping into Hawaii. To me, I think THAT moment was really the beginning of what was to become life at sea with James and Triteia!! I have been on and off board ever since and been more and more impressed with your story, your raw content, ALL of your incredible skills as a Captain, engineer, first mate, podcast host, instructor & educator, and very clear growth as a man. In hindsight, losing a “crew member” at the very beginning, became a blessing in disguise for you! At least from the outside, I’m sure the pain may have you thinking differently, but somehow the many smiles you’ve had since tell me otherwise.
I owned a 28’ Tanzer back in my early 20’s and tried to learn sailing because that’s how I wanted to see the world as well. It didn’t work and I sold her at the end of my second season - now in my 50’s, as I never did slow down and try again, I very much regret that I didn’t. Today I battle stage IV colon cancer and against my own insurmountable odds, I AM fighting back and have been for 6 years now, but it doesn’t allow me to make plans to see the places in this world I wanted to. Number one on that list was New Zealand and Australia, Alaska and Antarctica next. You have allowed me to see New Zealand in a way I would never be able to have accomplished myself, especially with this final anchorage spot in this video. I mean that looks like absolute paradise and a perfect place to be, even down to a perfect way to secure SV Triteria (I openly admit to having no clue as to what the advantages are to tie her to shore as you did, but have full trust that your reasons make total sense, and it definitely made the whole thing look incredibly cool)!! It would be very hard to top this and just as I’m thinking that, you announce that Rhonda, your “1 week visitor” lol, will becoming a permanent crew member AND MORE‼️ WOW, just bloody wow! There is NO question that we’re ALL incredibly happy for you both, this really looks like a relationship that was destined to be! Super happy for you James, couldn’t have happened to a better man. Rhonda… you are no doubt, already a valued member of Triteia AND the family of people who make up James supporters!! Welcome aboard.
Thanks for showing me places that I’ll never get to even while I’m still young enough to do so… it’s just not in my cards. So believe me when I say, I’m grateful to be seeing it through your lens!!
