    If you wash your hair with cold water, the products will not rinse out well. Hot-hot is certainly overkill and I agree with you on that, but some warmth to the water is necessary for use with shampoos and conditioners especially. If you don't rinse out the product well enough it can cause build-up on the hair and that is even worse than warm water!

    For as much as we try to help our hair externally, I feel like the biggest factor comes from what we let in... meaning are we malnourished? Do we take vitamins? Do we substitute certain vitamins for the lack of foods we eat like if someone doesn’t like fish/seafood but it’s a good protein for your hair, we can try fish oil instead. There are so many factors that go into what we consume and the health of our hair/scalp that I think you would do a really good job explaining and encouraging that✨(and none of this that I have said is meant to knock down this video you’ve just made because this video is very important too so hopefully it doesn’t come across that way)

    I know this is an old video, but hopefully this will be a helpful tip for future viewers: check your shampoo for silicones if you want to avoid them! Many of the top anti-dandruff shampoos contain silicones (Head and Shoulders, Selsun Blue), and you will also find them in shampoos that are marketed for shine, smoothness, and anti-frizz. 2-in-1 formulations are a likely culprit, too.

    I actually *need* to use sulfates, as I have a scalp issue (oily, SD aka seborrheic dermatitis). I can't go sulfate-free because it just doesn't clean my scalp enough to battle this condition. If I get a bout of it, I need to use Nizoral 2% (ketoconazole) shampoo, but in between bouts keeping the scalp really squeaky clean is *essential* and I can't do that without sulfates or my scalp will react badly. In my case my hair falls out from sulfate-free. You can't just up and generalize that sulfates are "bad" especially if there is no science to support that fact. Also, it's not the same for everyone. :)

      @@OrganicallyAnna, you're welcome. It took me a long time to find out I actually needed the sulfates to keep the scalp as clean as possible, and that that was what was keeping me from having to use the medicated shampoo as often. I can't go sulfate-free for the life of me, even though I wanted to at one point but I get a bout of SD as quickly as I wash with a shampoo like that. I also can't CO-wash (conditioner wash), same issue.

    What is a good dandruff shampoo from the drugstore/not expensive? I recently cut out all sulfates, silicones, and parabens from my hair products; however I’ve noticed all the dandruff shampoos I’ve seen such as Head and Shoulders,etc. have sulfates.
    ALSO, should you use an exfoliating shampoo if you have damaged hair/hair loss? I feel like it would just cause more hair loss

    • @jwoodj8
      @jwoodj8 3 роки тому

      I would recommend the Hask tea tree oil shampoo it’s sulfate free silicone free and pretty much free of all the bad stuff and though it doesn’t “cure” dandruff (because no shampoo can) it is just a good shampoo for oily scalps. As for exfoliating and hair loss in my experience I don’t think it would make it worse it’s really just meant to deep clean the scalp and follicles but if you don’t feel comfortable using a scrub chemical exfoliants are a great option because it’s basically a salicylic acid made for hair and scalp so I don’t think that would make hair loss worse at all.

IS THIS JUST BECAUSE A MONTH WASH OF MY HAIR WITH HARD WATER ? MAM I AM COMPLETELY LESS CONFIDENT AND MORE SAD ABOUT THIS ...IS THIS THING TO MY HAIR IS PERMANENT ? IM JUST 18 YEARS OLD MAM. My part was literally peeling off like scales and bright red, and the hairs were coming out with the peeling skin. It qasnt like thin layers of skin it was like 3-4 Layers. I had to have my hair parted to the side for like 3 months till the hair started to grow back and cover the bald spot 😭

Try using the acv rinse to clear any oil buildup on your scalp, this will also help the transition. You need to wash your scalp everyday if you want healthy hair. I followed the same rule we are told time and time again “don’t over wash”. I did that for the past 5 years and my hair is awful!
    I’ve started washing everyday again and the improvement is unreal.
    Like my trichologist (scalp and hair specialist) says “you wouldn’t not wash your face everyday. The same applies to your scalp”

      Different things work for different people, but over washing the hair and scalp can be extremely drying, causing irritation, dandruff, and leading the scalp to over produce oil. It can also be really drying to the hair, causing breakage, frizz, split ends, and even hair loss if the scalp is really irritated. Again, do what works best for you :)
