- Since the dawn of Counter-Strike, the game has revolved around two guns: the AK-47 and the M4A4.
But for a few crazy months, that changed.
The AUG meta helped Finnish hopefuls become superstars, and brought down veteran players who failed to adapt. And all it took was one, tiny price cut.
How is it possible that a gun with so much potential had been overlooked for so long?
Simply put, the AUG was a buried treasure, hidden in plain sight.

No matter how long youve played this game you gravitate towards two guns, The P90 on T side and the P90 on CT side.
And that make any difference? The point is to win the game, doesn't matter killing w/ knife, r8 or p90. God, if a teammate can play better with a auto sniper, so be it, i don't give a sh*t
I play on a laptop which barely achieves 35 fps and a office 8 year old wireless mouse. So I use P90 and I end up beating dudes with awp, m4 and Ak

@@CpttCanada Because it's a Bullpup gun lol. AKA the trigger is in front of the action instead of behind it. It makes it so you can make very powerfull guns of higher caliber while still having a reasonably short barrel lenght. The P90 is another Bullpup gun but made using SMG caliber instead of assault rifle caliber.
The FAMAS is another Bullpup Assault Rifle that's in the game.
The barrel itself is not that much shorter tbh. The idea of bullpup is to have a compact assault rifle in closer the size of a traditional smg

@@Plague_Doc22 Almost every pro is starting to use krieg. It's penetration, rate of fire and first shot accuracity is just too good. 3 shots in body from long range in a easy fast burst with scope. While scoping the spray is really small too. Ak needs buff or krieg nerf.

donjenzuss problem with SG553 is that if you want to maximize the purchase, you’d want to be scoping. But T side is primarily peeking, you don’t want to have to scope into peek. Also, the spray pattern is opposite of the AK which will need time to adjust to.
I agree that it’s all-around better than the AK. 1st shot accuracy(even unscoped, more so scoped), dmg, armor penetration, utility... for 50 bucks more, it should be a no-brainer, but nothing is ever really that straightforward

This was the only rifle I religiously used when I played CS:GO years ago, I can't believe it took this long for people to realize that the AUG is usually the best gun in every shooter. Hell, it was the absolute best gun in OG CS.
I used SG since 2016 I know it's spray better than the ak when they reduced the price I knew the gun is going to be OP I didn't mind them putting the gun back to 3k but why did they have to nerf it after increasing the price. It just makes me sad as I have to go back to ak, I had recently bought a stat trak skin for sg and they reduced the fire rate thus making me re learn the spray pattern for the sg basically punishing people even though they learned the sg properly. Now I have to learn ak again not from scratch but still I am not that good with ak like the sg.

@@toshal22 first of all, the price was originally 3300, and nobody used it because its always been seen as a trash rifle, and why would anyone ever bother learning a trash rifle?

I love how for the longest time Pro's elitism held back their teams and their own skill. Just too damn funny.
This happens all the time in competitive e sports. Pros are too focused on perfected the current meta that they simply don't have time to discover new ones. This might have exceptions but this video, and the most prevelant meta in overwatchs lifespan are 2 really good examples of this

What? Valve fails as usual and changes the core of CS by putting a gun that had no business ever being outside of CoD, and you blame it on pro's egos? CS is different from other games because it was based on skill and was in no way noob friendly. This gun changed that, and it shouldn't. @@donaldbaird7849 They're less skillful weapons though. Weapon diversity is good, but only if things are balanced properly. With how Valve nerfed the Aug it seems like they don't know how to balance these weapons. If they don't then I'd rather they go back to the M4/AK meta than have weapons like the Aug and SG that hurt the skill ceiling.

AUG was in the CS world long before you learn how to play the game. It's not broken or overpowered. You're just stupid enough not to realise that buying a better gun is just another part of the game strat. Can't play against it? Use it. Don't want to play against it? Quit the game

it's not even a question, these scoped guns were always the easier alternative to the standard rifles, they're noob friendly, they should never be competitively viable because they'd break the game, the game is meant to be played without scoped rifles, rifles are scoped because they're worse than their non scoped counterparts, it's how it always worked and always should, they didnt bring in a new interesting weapon, they made an easy weapon even easier and much stronger than its non scoped counterpart, it basically breaks CS fundamentals, but i doubt anyone understands that here.

In competitive, there will generally only be one awper on the team, meaning that there will only ever be 20% of the total guns being AWPs. Depending on the eco, it would be 10% or 0% (one team has AWP/nobody has AWP.)
Although, in matchmaking, the whole team will be AWP. 😂😂😂

@@assumingctrl Depends on where you play on certain maps. Train for example the extra accuracy can be nice if holding for example upper. But tbh you might aswell just get an aug instead and have the A4 be an option.

I'm not saying it's superior right now but still a viable option especially since the magazine size increase to 25 rounds. The only chance to get people adapted to it again in pair with the A4 is to slightly buff the accuracy or decrease its price a bit. Seeing it dying in the shadows is really painful for me
there is a reason why they had brought it down to 20 bullets then now back to 25... a 30 bullet a1s will beat a4 anyday.. even the 25 bullet change was enough for many to switch to it.. its just too op
@@CS_Uravity_PRO a1-s is better to spray through smokes, more accurate and easier spray pattern. Only has a little slower fire rate and 5 bullets less. I prefer a1-s and it def as good if not even better.

I still remember around 2015-2016 when I still play CS on regular basis, I used 553 pretty much as my main than AK, no one knows, no one noticed how broken the 100 armor pen on it. Then I moved on to play siege and got the news about AUG and 553 being a rising star

Shit I remember not using much the TEC-9 before it got patched because I thought It was a noob pistol (I used and abused the P250 tho, 1tapping full buy players in eco was fucking hilarious) then a week before the patch got into normal game I started using it and got like 1100 kills with her, thank god it got balanced.
I never used to overlook it like everyone seemed to... it was always OP but people refused to believe it

I've been rocking the AUG before even the drop,and i was DMG at that time(and yes ik how to use the m4,i always had the mindset that the AUG apart form the price was better) ,it was so funny to see the shift from the hating i was getting by using it to see rounds wth 4 AUGs and an AWP consistently and honestly the community just show its way of thinking for the game,no one and nothing can touch the godly AK and M4 because of Pros and parts of the community who dont want to adapt and hate the change.

Most people use the m4a4 because it has more ammo. You can prefire and just shoot more in general.
@@conmanconman7720 Ok but the m4a4 has a larger rate of fire and has like 5 bullets more per mag. The m4a1s is silenced, doesnt have bullet traces and is 200$ cheaper (the price of a flashbang). IMO its debatable which one is better but i prefer the m4a1s cause i can buy utility and you can spam smokes for free without the fear of getting shot back

the thing about the krieg is the risk you take of CT's taking the weapon and then holding angles with a one shot kill 30 bullet automatic scoped rifle.
Krieg is worse than the AUG for a couple reasons, none of which relate to the weapon itself. First, as a T player you're unlikely to be sitting and holding angles for much of the game. Because you're pushing, you need to check a ton of angles and scoping in makes that harder.
Second, as @dregongora said, you will inevitably drop it over to the CT side and give them an incredibly powerful gun which makes your job even harder.
The point is, saying the Ts have a better gun than the AUG so the AUG isn't broken is unfair since you shouldn't be buying the krieg much as a t anyways. The nature of the different sides means CT's value scoped rifles much more.

I always had higher K/D rate playing on casual, with an AUG / SG553.
I know M4A1 / M4A4 / AK47 are the "standard weapons", but be strong, and find the best weapon that suits you, and not anyone else.
I stopped playing CSGO around 2018 but I can't tell how many times I've been insulted by both enemies and teammates for using the AUG as my main weapon.
I've been playing counter strike casually for almost 20 years now and AUG/SG (previously known as Bullpup or 4-4/4-2) was my to go weapon on maps that had long straights but had no money for awp.
I used the "Bullpup" all the damn time in 1.3 - 1.6 :) Miss that old crosshair scope.
I dont get it why you dont mention that when this "Augmeta" was in live every map became CT-sided. And thats what breaks the difference between AUG and SG. CT job is to hold angles and be a "turret" and that why the AUG became so insane. T job is more about focus on to push map pressure, and if you're a T and want to buy a SG then think first " is the risk that i will drop this weapon to a CT worth it if i die"??
imagine complaining about an overpowered gun just to go back to the same 2 weapons after its nerfed. they talk bad about the cod community but at least they want some weapon diversity, they hate having weapons dominate the meta and want every gun to be able to compete, unlike csgo players who have been using the M4 and AK for 15 years straight

That’s because cod is not and never was a skill based game. Anybody can run around or camp and easily do good. Cs on the other hand is a skill intensive tactical shooter where a scope can completely change the way everyone plays the game. Balance in cod is just less noticeable and important when compared to cs
@@azmirjohari609 Are you kidding? They get paid to play the game, of course they're gonna learn and adapt to the best options. The problem with the AUG is that it tips the scales heavily in favor of the CTs, which already is favored in every single comp map besides d2. It's not about "gun diversity," rather that pushing against a scoped weapon with better stats than the m4 is just extremely difficult.
@@tm18. if you think cs is a mechanical game youre silver, if you play anything higher than global mechanics matter less than game knowledge, what does good aim mean if you cant throw proper flashes, smokes and the likes?
I used to play CS 1.5 in Internet Cafes with friends, I was the guy who bought all the off meta guns- the UMP, the AUG, the Five Seven (back than it was kinda useless) the Scout, the TMP... I remember being chastised even in those casual matches for using those weapons regardless weather I won or lost because it was simply accepted as a rule that it's only MP5 if you use SMG early- M4 vs AK at most matches and AWP in lategame.

I used the AUG when it was called Bullpup, because I always have a soft spot for bullpup rifles.
The AUG has always been 1 of my favourite guns after the M1 though

I really want the AUG (and the SG for the matter) back to their original firerate. They just sound so much better that way.

The R8 would have made for such a better video. They're overdramatizing a shitty buff that was ironed out eventually. The R8 and CZ literally were released with gamebreaking properties. Especially the R8 being a pocket AWP.

I think that the AUG is still a great weapon, the scope on it makes it easy for distance battles while still having hip-fire possibilities makes it good for close range, went from silver 1 to silver 3 using nothing but the AUG and AK-47.

omg I remember those days. It was so bad when you could reliably have a decent chance to win all save rounds vs full buys just because of the op pistols such as tec 9, p250, and five seven.

I stopped playing CS:GO around 2016-ish.
If I came back at this time and saw everyone CT side using the AUG I would've been shook.
For so long before that AUG price cut I was using the AUG and arguing with people about it. Felt good to be vindicated.

The problem is not with the guns being buffed / being part of the meta but in general many players are close minded and are not ready to accept the "truth" that they will have to live with
A little bit of humility , acceptance and adapting without crying , the same thing is happening with kreig right now
I been using the aug throughout the entirety of CS:GO. Only when I ran into certain clans in high ranked play would I experience hate and flame. I got more hate for some of the other guns I use and for certain rushes. For example: I use the bizon as CT on train in certain situations like round 2, kill a guy and then spray through the smoke to stop the push. At lower ranks people just hold down the W and it is an easy triple to ace. At higher ranks you can luck out a trip sometimes especially if you are against FaZe.

Technically, in cs: source it revolves around the m4a1-s and the AK and i guess global offensive also counts if you use it like me
I enjoy the weapon cause I like being able to aim down sights. Something that you would think a Counter Terror team would use.
I actually like that they try to make people use other guns more. M4 vs AK is great and has always been an all. But there are still more to be discovered and use in the game. AUG and SG have been there since 1.6 and they finally get the attention.
They probably would be nerfed afterward but at least we see something from them.

i still use the AUG. i play in mid-level. if my economy can support it ill use it like a hybrid Scout/M4. most mid-level players cant shoot accurately enough at distance without an AWP. i also love the Kreig

This feeling is the main reason why I put twice the time in Source than I ever put in GO. Along with a lot of changes that reduced the viability for different styles of play, player-imposed meta's that will literally scream at attempts at creativity kills my enjoyment of any game. Also wasn't thrilled at the idea of putting another hundreds of hours into de_Dust2 seriously dear god why do they do that to themselves.
