You are incrideble, Im a Shoes Pattern Man, and I never seen something like that in my whole life, I have made patterns and shoes since I was 14, nowadays Im 61. Great, congrats form Brazil.
Hello, Mr. Padilla! I am a beginner, who would love to be able to see some of your work; do you have a site or someplace where I could do that, please?
I just ordered your book and I can not wait to get started! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. (These red shoes are "clutch my pearls" beautiful.) I've found companies that make simple shoes but never in my size. Now I can have my beautiful shoes, in my size AND I can have control over design aspects that are important to me!
I wear a women's size 12/13. The last place that sold shoes in store in my size was payless. Thank you so so so much for this tutorial. I hate shopping online for shoes and now i can make shoes that i love! I'm so excited and have already started dreaming of ideas!
Loved it. I remembered back when I was young and did fair contest for 4-H in the craft division. If I had had a mentor like you or done something like this, I know I would have won.
Hi Sharon! Thank you for your patience to put these videos together (I know it's not easy!) and your incredible generosity for sharing your knowledge and experience. I've picked up so many tips just from a couple of your videos. All the best!
I wanted to thank you so much for this video. I have wanted to make my own shoes for a very long time but could not find enough detailed information before this video! My large feel got bigger in recent years and shoes became very hard to find. I was able to make an awesome pair of black Mary Janes after watching this. I had to tweak the pattern a number of times but ended up with one that works. I want to make more pairs but need to find a more dense foam/sole that will give me better support. I am so grateful that you have passed along this wonderful skill!
Very Nice work! I'm a straight guy & normally don't watch such videos, but I watched this because of the great craftswomanship. Now I know why women appreciate shoes so much. Sweet
There is nothing wrong with appreciating craftsmanship in anything, and men obsess over good shoes too such as bespoke Italian dress shoes. In the age of nike and adidas where polymers and cheap plastics and glues are used in virtually every shoe, everyone is looking for quality footwear that is custom made.
Thank you for this video. If there is anything I hate it is shoe shopping. I have wide feet and I end up buying shoes that I hate. Now I can buy my own leather and make my own with a style that I like.
I found a wide shoe store near me a few years ago and the owner is aging and i truly hope the grandson doesn't close it down. I have to travel 45 minutes but its a needed trek. Me and my whole family go there once or twice a year and get new shoes. They're expensive but much worth it. There's a runner in the house and he needs new shoes twice a year. The only running shoe we found that he like are New Balance.
Haven't finished yet, but if you used expanding spray foam on the inside of the duct tape last you could make a last. A little epoxy or wood filler and you've got a hard sculptable last.
Yeah that’s an interesting idea. How would you do it? Spray the foam inside the tape casting and also add wood filler or epoxy into it at the same time you suggest? Or coat it afterwards once the foam cures?
I LOVE your teaching style! Thank you for explaining things in a straightforward manner, without a lot of fluff and nonsense. I appreciate that you value our time and don't waste it with looking for tools you need or talking to your dog as it loudly runs through the room! lol! I learned a lot from watching this. :)
Thanks for posting. My feet have splayed beyond the widths available from commercial sources. Custom shoes from a cobbler are out of my price range. You've given me a great introduction to the techniques involved. Now I just need to adapt them to men's rowboats.
Sharon great idea for making a pattern ,did you ever think of getting a tracing wheel it would help save you an enormous amount of time without taking away from workmanship. Any good leather shop will have them for sale.
Thank you so much for these videos! You've inspired me to actually create shoes.I've been wanting to make shoes for the longest but I haven't had the guts.
Sharon, so glad I stumbled onto your videos. I've been so frustrated trying to find flattering yet comfortable boots, haven't bought a pair in years. hoping this will be the perfect stepping stone toward that. Really motivated because I also ride a motorcycle, but haven't been able to find a decent pair of safety boots in a woman's size. I also have a son and a nephew who can't ever find a large enough size in anything that's decent and comfortable (sizes 14/15/16 wides).
Those turned out absolutely fabulous! This video was good for lowering blood pressure as well. I always had my casual shoes handmade in Laguna Beach California and I love them but everyone kept stealing them so I had to have like five pairs made every year!
Very Beautiful Hand Made Shoes!! High sense of a design colours and textile pairing. (What could she do with professionl machineries..Wow!! ) Lovely shoes!!
this would help me a lot, i was looking a video to help me make a shoes that will fit me so excited!! eehhh i just need to find time to do this !! thank you for sharing this
Mrs/Ms Raymond you have a subscriber.... this video is fyah... with that playdoh you can create a material strongerner then titanium, and more flexible then playdoh Mrs/Ms Ramond.. you will revolutionize the sneaker industry... they think they got it but they dont, Nike an Adidas are battling it out but they still dont got it yet but you do...
Beautiful! And my favorite color is red... I wanted to pass along to you that quite by accident I have found a number of sole materials on line and some even retail through Amazon. I ordered some crepe rubber to put my sewing machine on, but it is intended for soles. Many others though.
I love your work and this tutorial! You have given me the courage to give this a try. I do have a couple of questions. What weight leather are you using and ditto with the thread?
You are extremely kind to show us your shoe making directions. I am going to try and make a pair for myself. I was just wondering how difficult it would be to add a heal to the shoes?
you can add a heel to shoes, i would make it from soling material and stitch it on, information about adding heels is in The Simple Shoemaking Handbook
Hi Sharon! What a great skill to possess and even greater that you are sharing with us. I do have a question for you, though. Why do you make a meane pattern? Why would it matter is both sides aren't the same? Our feet sure aren't symmetrical. Thank you!
Awesome video! One question, at what point did the leather insole get stitched onto the rubber outsole and midsole? The video only shows the outer and mid getting sewn together.
Hi, Sharon. Very nice! Very good instructions and I LOVE your shoes. You are a good teacher. Are all the shoes in your videos in the women's package? I especially like this style!!! (I can't see the individual photos on the website - you might want to fix that.)
This is a very well-made video! I'm going to save if for the future when I am free to make things again! (I'm not in prison, I'm just living abroad.) Thank you!
Hello! First, thank you so much for these wonderful videos! I'm almost ready to go. Made the lasts, made the patterns. Waiting for some supplies to arrive. I'm scared to cut the leather though....lol. I have a question about the red piece of leather inner sole part......did that get glued or sewn on? I don't see that in the video and am not sure how it attaches. Thanks!
Greetings Josie, I'm happy to hear from you--I strongly suggest that you make model shoes using cardboard for the sole and felt for the uppers before cutting into any leather..I don't remember the details of this video so can't answer your question, one of my books would be useful to you, I think - they are available for full price, half price, or free if it is requested in an email to me, in my etsy shop - www.etsy.com/shop/simpleshoemaking - you'll be on your way to becoming a shoemaker!
@@simpleshoemaking Hi Again, Is the correct title: "How to Make Ecological Simple Shoes for Women with your own two hands!" I don't see one titled just simpleshoemaking. Thanks : )
You can also cut the slot for the buckle tongue with two small hole punches at each end, then cutting carefully between then. Use a fresh blade in a craft knife and work from each end, and dye.
