As the founder of a company that focuses on helping early stage companies identify their "seeds" and make sure that it does not become waste as they grow, I completely agree with Andrew. 100% of companies have intangibles and we need to educate more on this topic.
Every single thing this man says is SPOT ON RIGHT. I've used different vocabulary but to compete in today's economy - businesses need to shift from selling products to helping their clients envision whats possible. Its the accountants (because they cannot quantify the contributions of intangible things like helping clients envision a different world) that create the metrics that are killing sales and marketing performance. THIS IS SUCH an important piece of work. We need to help Andrew make this point more clear. This is an amazing piece of work.

The use of an agrarian metaphor is a very interesting way of viewing pent up IP value. Clever and well done. Perhaps this thought process can be taken one step further -- can the monetization be even further enhanced by engaging outsiders (such as entrepreneurs) who may be better suited to successfully commercialize the value?
