Still have my LP. Got it for my 22nd birthday in '80 from my Mom, of all people. Turns out she was paying attention when I played Tangerine Dream, Synergy, Klaus Schulze, etc...

YOU'RE ALMOST THE SAME AGE AS MICHEAL GARRISON, YOU WERE BORN ABOUT TWO YEARS APART; P.S. YOU'RE ALSO ABOUT THE SAME AGE AS KYLE MACLOCHLAN AND LUCNDA BASSETT. WHAT A GREAT GENERATION, CLASS OF ABOUT 1976, OR SO.

unfortunately he does'nt live anymore, he was a good Musician in the range of Jean Micheael Jarre, but he has never been that famous, which he deserved.

Yes, alcoholism led to his liver failure, but the cause for his drinking had been lifelong depression. I've read a short biography about his life. Dearly missed

Bought the elpees 30-45 years ago, then the CDs...never knew why they didn't keep coming until 15 years ago. This is so beautiful it hurts, and even more so when you know what happened to him.

There are moments of this album that sound sooo much like the Ashra/Manual Gottsching (R.I.P. other MG) album New Age of Earth, which may be my favorite electronic music album. That doesn't take away from how great this album is and in general I think Michael Garrison has his own unique style and sound.

Wow. I first heard Escape as a track on Neil Norman's anthology album "Music from the 21st Century," but it was much shorter and arranged differently; it was a favourite. I recognised it when we went on a summer trip through the Pacific Northwest, and stopped at OMSI to visit the planetarium. But only now, 40 years later, do I get to hear the piece in its entirety.
And I find out Mr. Garrison is gone. In fact, a lot of the artists who were on that anthology are gone. )-:
Well...thank you for posting the album. Nice to finally hear the song as was originally composed.

I remixed this album in 1985 using a Roland TR-808 drum machine but the music is better without it. There is even an unkown or forgotten track Black hole. Was it on the LP? I don't remember it. My favourite is Theme to Onday. I suspect Garrison recorded it an octave lower at half speed because on other tracks he didn't play as fast. It's his only piece with a long virtuoso solo. I could be wrong of course. I never got the nerve to ask him. As a tribute to Michael Garrison we made a tribute double cd called To the sky and beyond the stars. The track made by Craig Padilla feautures Garrison's instruments that he bought after his early passing way. My track is on ua-cam.com/video/jhB6XkWKeLQ/v-deo.html
