This tablet brought back the popularity of compact models with screens up to 9 inches, including the beginning of a whole family of cheap ones from Chinese second tier manufacturers (Alldocube iPlay50/60 Mini, Headwolf FPad 5 and others). Thank you for many useful guides based on this tablet!
Thanks so much for the comment! Once of the things I love about this tablet is the video output, you can have a small tablet or convert it into a "PC" connecting it to an external monitor
@LinuxDroidMaster I find it quite useless if it can't be connected to an external display in portrait mode using its PC mode or extended display. Are you able to successfully select portrait mode?
This tablet is awesome. thanks so much for demoing all the features. Can't believe this isn't more popular. That desktop mode is amazing and adds so much functionality.
It is an incredible, powerful, small tablet. I followed your instructions to update it to Android 13 and I like it even more. It feels faster or smoother and the UI is far more polished. Also, there are more up to date security updates. Something from me, I applied an anti-reflexive screen protector to the display and it became great on eyes, almost an ebook reader. I love your videos, not only to watch but also to improve the tablet experience and functionality. Thank you so much.
I have been using a similar setup with a Samsung phone and DEX. I love the ability to connect my phone to basically any PC using a USB. The definite plus is the ability to use the existing keyboard and mouse without a usb-c hub. The DEX mode is not very advanced but in combination with Linux on Android, it becomes a true portable laptop.
Are you able to bring out the portrait mode when using Linux on Android? The portrait mode is available on Dex now but I cannot find it in this lenovo tablet.
Hi, are you familiar with Samsung’s Smart Select tool? You can crop the screen and create a GIF. Can you do this on the Lenovo Legion Y700? I want to buy this tablet but I really need the ability to make GIFs from videos I’m watching on the tablet. Thank you for taking time to upload and respond. ❤
On this tablet you can record the screen but you would need another app to convert it to gif and crop the part you need, there is no functionality that I know of like Samsung's :(
any controllers you can recommend to use this tablet like a handheld? Like the controllers that attach directly to the device on the left and right side
When I resize the terminal is inside my Linux on android environment (control + "+" and control + "-"). In the PC mode it is not possible to resize windows with the keyboard :(
I personally use it for reading and if you activate the reading mode and set the brightness to the minimum for me it doesn't hurt my eyesight but I guess it depends on the person
@LinuxDroidMaster but I checked in the internet, they said 2022 version got cellular function. I'm not sure just checking with you. It must be nice to live in Granada. I dreamt of visiting Alhambra one day. 🙏
And no GPS. One of the greatest disappointment is that the touch screen is not so sensitive. Typing on it is noticeably inferior even to my older Samsung Note 3.
Well I would say first the most reliable way is via cable (ethernet) and after that Wifi but if it is everywhere probably the hotspot is your only option as this tablet doesn't have LTE connectivity
This video is excellent. The variety of use examples you provide are remarkable. If I had one complaint, it's that I wish you had the 2023 model, which appears to be significantly more powerful (would like to know your opinion on that). 😀
Yes I would love to have the 2023 model but when I bought the tablet it cost twice as much as the 2022 so I went for this one hahaha. As far as I know in general the 2023 model is better and it has a global ROM, but I'm not sure about the extended PC mode working on the 2023 model.
@@LinuxDroidMaster That's what I found so impressive about your video. The extended PC mode you were showing was remarkable. I was not aware. Personally, I'm more of an Apple person, and with Apple finally permitting game emulators onto the AppStore, the iPad mini has become a new gaming powerhouse with RetroArch and PPSSPP, but Android remains better in this regard for a device like the Y700 with its use of a significantly more powerful processor (compared to the 2022 Y700) micro-SD cards to supplement storage plus the second USB-C port on the device.
@@srfeger I love the versatility of Android because you can modify almost anything you want and of course the posibility to run my linux on android setups so I have basically a PC hahaha. Also I have programmed a couple of apps and for that Android is easier and cheaper 😅
Well it depends on the task, for media consumption you can see probably 2 movies (~4 hours or so), for intense gaming a bit less (2-3 hours) and for light gaming (maybe some Gameboy emulation) it can last a lot hahaha
I don't know why they do not add these functionalities to the new Razer Edge 5G. I mean why put a futuristic device on market when it does not have cool functionalities.
Depends on the task, for multimedia it is really good, for gaming it depends on how intense the game is but you can play for a few hours or if you play some GBA/NDS game a lot more

Totally agree with the desktop mode hahaha
@LinuxDroidMaster Are you able to add more fonts to the system? It has very limited English fonts when compare to the other brands.
thank you for review ! so good !

Thanks for all your comments! The anti-reflexive screen protector is a good idea! I might look for one :)

Totally, the only thing I miss from a Windows computer is the option to have multiple displays at the same time
I want to know if the latency is good or bad when u plug the usb to monitor connecting your phone.
@@amanmaurya9172 There is no significant latency

I don't have a telescopic controller but one of the most recommended is the GameSir Galileo G8 (it's a bit expensive)
Im using the Galileo g8 and works perfectly.
I love this guys accent :D
hahaha thanks!

the 2023 version is the best, the last gen with micro sd card, the 2022 is the last gen with 3,5 jack
Does it have cellular function ? How much memory can you put into the tablet? Im interested
It doesn't have LTE. You can put a micro SD card up to 2TB I believe but the 2025 model doesn't have SD slot (the 2023 has)
