VERSATILE HOT DISTORTION TEST for Resin Coated Sand

Hot distortion test is one of the very few Qualitative tests to gauge quality of Resin coated sand or Cold Box Sand cores.
The test gives out a Graph of Distortion Vs Time as final result and the Software that acquires the graph provides analytical capabilities to understand,
1. Behavior of Basic Sand on application of heat, Sand grain expansion properties
2. Dilation and sustenance properties of Cores in side a mould
3. Distortion of core to estimate final casting sizes
4. Behavior of Resin and Sand mixture on application of heat
5. Exact behavior difference between two batches of Sands on application of heat.
This test can be effectively used as Criteria for Incoming inspection of resin coated sand and to experiment and finalize Resin grade, Quantity and Basic sand that can be used to get a better casting.
